  1. Nickel penny, have you looked into Synvisc Gel injections, I’ve been bone on bone for 10 years and I get the injections every 6-7 months, they don’t work for everybody but they do for me, I can’t run a Marathon but I’m not in agony and able to play Golf 3 times a week and ride my bike twice a week
  2. ottahand, at 18 years old I didn’t really look at it as my first big job, someone was needed to do it until they found an older Produce Manager, I started taking night classes that fall at Loyola of Chicago and the next big job I had was 4 years in the Air Force starting in 1965, LOL.
  3. Spot on also what’s wrong with 2 days at sea, 2 full days in Bermuda and 2 days again at sea, we love sea days and that would be a perfect cruise.
  4. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. A pleasant 70 right now with a high of 83, IMHO April and May along with October and November are the best months in Florida. Good selection of days, who doesn’t like PB&J, I was actually a produce manager at a Kroger store in Chicago in 1964 for about 5 weeks the summer after I graduated high school, it was on an emergency basis as the regular produce manager quit, I did a decent job as I had worked in the produce department for 2 years in an after school job and on Saturdays, biggest problem I had was I had no clue on ordering. The quote makes sense, everything I tried to do in my life I gave it my best except a few classes in high school mainly because of a dislike of some of my teachers. The French Toast casserole sounds good. I had the worst round of Golf in a while yesterday as I wasn’t feeling all that well with an upset stomach and a headache, back to 100% today. Have a great day and stay well.
  5. Beautiful ship when Costs was a very good line as it was family owned before Carnival bought them.
  6. As Florida residents we would love to see round trips to Bermuda from any port in Florida.
  7. December 4, 1982…..Sitmar Cruises on the TSS Fairwind to San Juan, St. Thomas and Nassau. When cruises were cruises with amazing Midnight Buffets, Champagne and Caviar on Formal Nights, unbelievable service, nice prizes for contest winners with no nickel and diming. Sitmar had the best potato chips which were made on board and in all the cocktail lounges. Drinks were cheap and less than what you would pay at a bar on land, now it’s the opposite.
  8. Next year it’s the same day, like I said don’t ask why except for the Julian calendar.
  9. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 62 right now with another great day coming up with a high of 82 and sunny skies. Happy Easter to most of the Christian world. I’m Greek Orthodox and this year our Easter isn’t until May 5th as the Orthodox Church still uses the Julian calendar, I can’t answer why. Strange selection of days, I guess the quote makes sense. I’d try the meal of the day. Illinois is out of the NCAA tournament as UCONN destroyed them. For you Golf fans like me, my bet is on Scottie Scheffler winning his 3rd tournament in a row, he is in a 3 way tie going into the final round, he actually acknowledged the fans yesterday on a few occasions. Have a great day, a beautiful Easter and stay well.
  10. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. It’s 60 right now going up to 81 with sunny skies. Good selection of days. Can’t argue with the quote, Capote had a way with words. I’m not sure what a Sub salad is. Greenland was never on my bucket list. Illinois wins and is in the elite 8. Great to have baseball back even though my teams lost their openers. Have a really early tee time this AM as we have a Men’s Day shotgun start tournament with lunch included followed by an election of our Men’s Golf Assn. officers. Have a great day and stay well.
  11. You are spot on about the entertainment on HAL ships and because of that and some other issues we have had we have stopped sailing with HAL until we hear things have improved.
  12. We sailed on Statendam class ships 7 times and on the little larger Volendam 3 times, at the time they were classy wonderful ships and we always had great cruises. As things evolved the Eurodam is now our favorite ship as she is a classy ship with a bit more room and amenities and has the classic wrap-around promenade decks which is something we are not seeing anymore on the new ships.
  13. I remember back in the day when you went out for breakfast and the coffee was free and they kept filling the cup up, now it’s 3 dollars and you’re lucky if you see the waitress again, lucky for us we have a great waitress at our favorite breakfast diner and she is always there for you.
  14. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Mid 70s right now but not getting much warmer with a high of 79, we had some rain during the early morning hours. Good selection of days. Never met a salad I didn’t like. Audrey Hepburn was a great actress and her quote is spot on. We have been to Croatia but to Dubrovnik and not Zadar. I’m ready for the Baseball season to start but I’m also still excited with the hockey season as the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin in mid April. Being from Chicago I still follow the White Sox and Blackhawks but with over 30 years in Florida I’ve become a huge fan of the Rays and Lightning. Have a great day and stay well.
  15. I miss Rodney Dangerfield.
  16. I remember driving over the double span Skyway bridge in 1983 on the remaining span as we drove from Clearwater to Sarasota to see a spring training baseball game and seeing what was left of the other span, very eerie to see part of the span still in tact unlike today’s accident that brought down just about the whole bridge.
  17. I didn’t hear that but that makes sense and relieves my fears of terrorism.
  18. Unbelievable, this just doesn’t happen with clear and calm conditions with the Captain and 2 Pilots on the bridge, I won’t be surprised that terrorism might be in play as individuals could have taken command of the bridge. One of the commentators on Fox news also said that this might very well be a crime scene. A similar incident happened in Tampa Bay in the early 80s but dense fog was the main reason a container ship brought down that bridge with the Pilot also miscalculating the clearance between the support columns, IIRC 35 persons lost their lives that night including some aboard a Greyhound bus.
  19. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 62 right now with a high of 82 and sunny skies I’m of Greek ancestry so hooray for Greek Independence Day as Greeks suffered for hundreds of years under the Ottoman Empire. I’m not sure I agree with the quote. I am in on today’s meal. Only been to Ireland once and for only a few hours as we had to make a medical stop in Shannon on a flight from Athens to NYC. Off to the golf course soon, we have early tee times on Mondays. Have a great day and stay well.
  20. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 62 heading up to a pleasant sunny 81 this afternoon. Good selection of days as is the quote. I love shrimp and enjoy tacos but I’ve never had a shrimp taco. I’m not a big basketball fan and don’t watch the NCAA tournament, even though I left Chicago 31 years ago I am happy that Illinois has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, Northwestern will probably lose to UCONN today, from what I’ve read Illinois has a good shot of making the Final Four. Have a great day and stay well.
  21. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Terrible news this AM with a steam pipe explosion on the Nieuw Amsterdam killing 2 crew members, prayers for their souls. 67 right now and after a rainy Friday it’s going to be sunny with a high of 77 today. No comment on one of the days but the other 2 are good especially with all our cat lovers here. Thought provoking quote by Eleanor Roosevelt. I’ll try the meal as there aren’t many chicken concoctions that I would turn down. Never been to Madagascar or anywhere else in Africa but I’d love to visit Egypt and the Pyramids along with the Valley of the Kings but it’s not going to happen. Saturday morning means it breakfast at our favorite diner. Have a great day and stay well.
  22. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 67 this morning, raining right now with showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day, high of only 72, unfortunately no golf today. Meh on the days but the quote is fine. We’ve been to Falmouth and Jamaica many times but can’t remember the last time we actually stepped ashore. Climbing Dunn’s River Falls back in 1991 is still one the most fun things we ever experienced while in a cruise port, also enjoyed rafting on the Martha Brae river. Pass on the meal. Since we now have 2 official pieces of mail with our new address we can now get our new driver licenses and auto registration, good day to get this out of the way what with the all day rain. Have a great day and stay well.
