Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda. Another unusually cool day and week coming up here in the Sunshine State. Not sure about the quote. I would try the vegetable lasagna. Greed has the NFL with a 17 game schedule which gives us playoff games in January with temperatures around zero and blizzards, not fair to the fans or players, had to vent on this, football is a game meant to be played in the fall months. Have a great day and stay well.- 81 replies

Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda. So far this has been the lousiest winter in our 30 years in Florida, haven’t worn shorts on the golf course in 3 weeks, of course things could be worse as my hometown of Chicago is buried in snow with temps below zero for the next 3 days. Good quote and I like black bean soup. One of my favorite cocktails is a CC with Ginger Ale Highball. Have a great day and stay well.- 80 replies

We alternate between Celebrity, Princess and Holland America. Right now we have scratched HAL off the list as we had 2 cruises that were not the HAL that we have sailed 25 times with. We’re not happy with all the extra charges on Celebrity but they still have a good product and we will for the time being alternate between X and Princess.

@StLouisCruisers Enjoyed your photos, Nha Trang has certainly changed a lot since 1967. I would love to go back but it’s just too far away and as I mentioned numerous times we will don’t care for air travel.- 117 replies

This is unacceptable, how does stuff like this happen on a mainstream cruise line. That being said we have been on 5 Celebrity cruises since the startup in late 2021, we sailed on the Equinox 3 times, the Reflection and the Infinity one time each and all 5 cruises the ships were very clean and despite their age, in very good shape. The only thing that we saw that needed attention were the condition of the verandas.
-
Yep, those were great days, some meals included caviar and champagne. The cruise lines were there to give you a memorable time and not fleece you at every chance they could get.
-
We are old time cruisers and refuse to eat in specialty restaurants or order the up- charge meals in the MDR.

Another thing is who will buy these behemoths when it’s time to sell them, most lines that buy mainstream cruise line ships are smaller European lines. -

Some vacation with 7,000 others, most of them kids. -
We’ve been on 72 cruises with 5 on MSC and never experienced a cabin steward leaving an envelope on the last day.
-
Another thing to remember is waitstaff either on land or sea are getting built in raises everytime the price of the meal goes up. We always tip 20% but that’s it. One other peeve, when you are in the MDR and you order an up charge item like lobster, a 20% gratuity is added, I wonder why as the server is already being compensated by the daily gratuity added to your shipboard account, something stinks in Denmark and who is really getting that 20 percent.
-
Holland America except for the new ships always had the best promenade decks on the high seas, they are complete wrap arounds and by far the best place to read a good book while watching the ocean pass by. IMHO the decision to add lanai cabins on some of the ships was pure greed and a terrible idea.
-
Pretty substantial line, nor everyone, just those that signed up for early walk off. Some people want to stay on the ship as long as possible.
-
We were on the Enchanted Princess on the December 2 sailing and we had the earliest walk off we’ve ever had, dis-embarked at 6:30 AM, sort of unbelievable. We’ve sailed on the Equinox 5 times since 2019 and walk off has been between 7:20 and 7:30, same with cruises on the Reflection and Infinity. All these cruises were round trip from Port Everglades.
-
Hopefully that will work as the main showroom is a complete joke with lack of entertainment.

Current Celebrity (Edge Class) vs. Princess Food?
MISTER 67 replied to roxannex's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We sail mainly with Celebrity and Princess, we don’t do specialty restaurants so IMHO Celebrity has a slight edge in both the MDR and the buffets but not that much of a difference that it will keep us away from Princess, everything else from service to entertainment is equal except X still gives us the mints on the pillows but X charges more for the same cruises. -
Nieuw Amsterdam is our favorite ship, so where is BB Kings now?

I’ve been buying Citizen Eco-Drive watches for years, IMHO Citizen is the best watch for the money with Seiko almost as good. Invicta watches are OK if you are looking for a decent low priced everyday time piece but some as was mentioned are too darn heavy.
