  1. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Rainy this morning but sunny later in the day with a high of 80. The quote makes sense. The French dip Reuben sandwich is something I'd try. French toast is great. It's Cyber Monday and I'm going to celebrate it by buying a new I Pad. I see the hand surgeon tomorrow and hope he gives me the OK to play golf. The fingertip and nail bed is still a little sore but getting a little bit better every day. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  2. No, just the one week from the 4th to the 11th, hoping you have a great cruise also. Did you happen to read the review by sayvan last week on his NA cruise, everything was great. My only concern is Covid but so far we have managed to beat the bug, this will our 7th cruise since Thanksgiving of last year so hopefully we make it through another cruise without being quarantined.
  3. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Foggy and humid this morning with temps reaching the mid 80s this afternoon. Good quote. I’ve never thrown a pie in someone’s face but there’s always a first time. I'd try the stir fry chicken, not sure about the drink. Michiganders must be ecstatic with the Wolverines trouncing Ohio State yesterday. One week to go for our Caribbean cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  4. I'm a big fan of Daniel Silva, have read all his books. I'll give Pavone a try, thanks for the recommendation, always looking for new authors.
  5. Great photos, Vietnam has progressed and has come a long way since 1968 when I was stationed at Nha Trang Air Force Base.
  6. We've been on 68 cruises and haven't taken a shore excursion since we did a Mediterranean cruise around Italy in 2007. We are 77 and now just cruise in the Caribbean as we live in Florida and drive to Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa or Miami, we don't fly anymore, hate the whole experience. We been to all the Caribbean Islands some as much as 30 times. At this stage in our lives we just enjoy being on a cruise ship, every so often we will get off the ship in places like Havensight in St. Thomas or the mall at the port in St. Maarten or maybe a stroll around Old San Juan.
  7. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Another nice day in Punta Gorda, sunny and a high of 85. Good selection of days. Every once in awhile I'll read a Nicholas Sparks book for a change of pace from the usual mystery and espionage books I read, I'm sure the quote is a line from one of his books. IMHO the French Onion soup on Holland America and Princess Ships is excellent. The US did what they needed to do with a 0-0 tie against England, now they have to beat Iran on Tuesday to advance to the round of 16. The bad news is the American team is having trouble scoring with only 1 goal in 2 games, they'll have to step it up against Iran. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  8. The Mediterranean. The Linguine and clam sauce on Princess, the Beef Wellington on Celebrity. The Dover Sole on Holland America. Country Club Casual. On dressy nights a sport coat for me and a dress for DW.
  9. In Soccer the clock never stops so with all kinds of delays during the game the officials add on time at the end of the half and then again at the end of the game to make up for the delays.
  10. Didn't hear about Salming's passing, couldn't have been that old.
  11. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Another nice day coming up with sunny skies and a high of 85. We stay away from the stores on Black Friday. I like the quote. I'm going on a mini diet today, actually with a cruise coming up in 9 days I'll try to lose a couple of pounds by sail date. The good news is we usually only gain a pound or 2 at the most when we cruise. Some good football and soccer games yesterday. USA needs no worse than a tie against favorite England today. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  12. Yeah but you just gave away your secret. LOL
  13. Thanks for your great review, we sail on the NA on Dec. 4th which along with the Eurodam are our favorite HAL ships. We've always had great cruises with HAL but I was starting to get concerned as some reviews lately have been on the negative side but your review makes me feel a lot better.
  14. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. A little misty right now but becoming sunny with a high of 85. Happy Thanksgiving Day to one and all. A great quote by Anne Frank. I wonder why there is a day for D.B Cooper who hijacked a plane in 1970? on a flight from Portland to Seattle, IIRC the plane landed in Seattle where he released the passengers and received his ransom money, the plane took off and Cooper jumped out of the plane with a parachute around a half hour later somewhere over Washington State and was never seen again. Bottom line, the guy was a hijacker and a thief and does not deserve a day. I love Turkey Dinner not only on Thanksgiving but quite often during the course of the year. We have been to San Juan many times while cruising and are going to visit again on our upcoming cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  15. We are early diners, usually one of the first in line around 5:15 depending on the ships schedule. We never have problems with long lines or long times for the meal itself, usually our meals have taken between 75 and 90 minutes which is a nice pace. We usually have an appetizer, soup, salad, the main course and dessert. We are sailing Dec 4th on the Nieuw Amsterdam and actually have fixed early sitting on that cruise. I'm reading some posts that some are having long dinner times of over 2 hours, we've been on 68 cruises and 6 in the last year and never had a dinner that took more than 90 minutes.
  16. Dutch Cafe is only on Pinnacle Class ships.
  17. Unfortunately Covid changed everything.
  18. The Maasdam, Ryndam, Veendam and Statendam were all what HAL named Statendam class ships. They were classic beautiful vessels. They all had a great library as part of the Exploration Cafe IIRC on deck 4 and the beautiful Ocean Bar lounge which always had a small band with dance music before and during the dinner hours. The Explorers lounge was also beautiful and classy as were the dining rooms and of course they all had the traditional Promenade deck. IIRC we sailed on Statendam class ships at least 12 times. When the Vista and Signature class ships were introduced they have become our favorite HAL ships especially the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam but the Statendam class ships will always have a soft spot in our hearts.
