  1. So I know check-in opens 14 days prior to the cruise to select your port arrival time (16 days for P&D). What info do you need to check in? And when they say 14 (or 16) days, does it start at midnight or when? Just trying to figure out if I'm going to need to set an alarm this weekend.....
  2. I think it's still ready; they just aren't offering "priority" boarding to P&D guests right now.
  3. It's easier. And with my wife having Platinum status, we can stash the bags in the room before enjoying the run of the ship. No lost bags, unpacked before most people are even on the ship. And with just carry-ons, we also carry them off. Sure beats sifting through all the bags before customs.
  4. Minor question, probably, but what coffee options are available on Carnival? Specifically the Ecstasy. My wife loves her Starbucks cold brew with nonfat milk, Stevia, and vanilla flavouring. I know there's no Starbucks, but what about the rest?
  5. Paxlovid is not for prophylaxis. You need to actually test positive for COVID and then start it as soon as possible (within 5 days).
  6. We have been successful on RC getting drink package for 1 guest only (with a doctor's note).
  7. I just checked -- all the Carnival ships are back to orange
  8. Yes. The time difference was no issue -- I think the proctors are in Asia somewhere. It was available 24hours/day. Easy connectivity. Takes about 30 minutes (20 minutes is the wait time for the test to actually run).
  9. Try CityHealth. We used these on our European vacation last month. Proctored and fast results (less than 1 hour).
  10. Haven't cruised since the world shut down. Prior to that, check-in was easy -- here's our boarding passes, here's our passports, thank you very much, move along. Now, we're going to have to present boarding passes, passports, vax cards, and test results. Seems like a lot of pieces of paper. Carnival, in an email, mentioned VeriFly. Does that really make things easier?
  11. Are you at least Platinum? Ship's laundry is a big help!
  12. So a few years ago, the bartenders would "warn" you when got to drinks 13 and 14. You could then decide whether to max out at 15 and go to bed, or start buying drinks before maxing out. The idea was that any alcoholic drink you bought didn't count toward the Cheers! limit. That has changed? (FWIW, I only maxed out my card once, when I was a bit younger than I am now!)
  13. Since we discovered our ability to do this......life-changing! We did 18 days in Europe (including a 10 day Greece cruise), a week in Jamaica, and another 15 day UK trip (no cruise) with just a carry-on and a backpack each. The secret, according to my wife, is packing cubes.
  14. In the past, we never bought travel insurance. Now, with everything going on in the world, it seems like an (almost) reasonable expense.
  15. I believe we have done all of those ports on various cruises. Aruba is gorgeous. Bonaire is a rocky little place that I would not go to again. Curacao is quite nice, too. My $0.02 -- take the Magic cruise.
  16. We've never sailed out of Mobile. What should we expect? We've left out of NOLA too many times to count, and it's always a cluster. Conversely, we've sailed from Tampa twice, and both times were almost perfect. I know in Mobile there will only be one ship, and "only" 2000 or so people trying to get on it, but any tidbits of wisdom would be appreciated!
  17. Has the priority boarding for Platinum/Diamond cruisers returned?
  18. According to the calculator, I would out WAAAYYYY ahead with Cheers!
  19. I did it at the machine. I don't remember the specifics, but you have to insert your S&S card. Some computer magic happens, and it knows what you have available.
  20. What I have done in the past is transfer OBC to a slot machine, played one pull, then cashed out. Took the receipt to the cashier and got cash. YMMV.
  21. Does anyone have a current Carnival drink menu? Going on a 5 day on the Ecstasy in August and trying to decide if Cheers! is worth it. Been out of the cruising business since 2019 because of ....everything... and I just noticed the jacked up the price.
