  1. Do you feel inflation is under control? If not will RCL be able to increase prices further beyond what they already have to compensate and attract passengers? Do you feel that interest rate increases are over and done with? If not, how will that affect the massive amounts of debt RCL took on during Covid when it's time to roll it over? How do entertainment/leisure stocks fair during a recession? (although I believe the definition of that term is a moving target these days) What are your thoughts on what would happen if a government that is "changing the energy world" were to cast its attention on the cruise industry? I don't have the crystal ball answers on any of this, but I'd be thinking about it when playing with a stock.
  2. Wait, what? How did I miss this news! So is there a Headline show, and what are they doing for it? Musical acts? And will the ships with Broadway shows stop them once the contracts run out?
  3. Few more words @Ourusualbeach ......... No direct messaging on Cruise Critic..... and several times wondered how to make contact with another fellow Canadian about group rates... these two are completely unrelated statements mr/mrs moderator........ honest....... sigh One day perhaps we shall cross paths in a roll call and I'll be able to meet in person 😊
  4. Sadly we're in the same pricing demographic as our fellow Canadians...... which is to say nothing currently booked. Sigh. In fact, anecdotally, I think we are geographically fairly close to yourself.
  5. A) those are some crazy numbers for Icon B) thanks for that explanation!!! most logical and factual post about something I've often wondered when pricing the KSF!
  6. I'm waiting for the next thread to be posted........ "in an elevator with "Oasis snobs"........... so I had them believing I had been sailing Icon for years............"
  7. 1 bottle of wine per person of drinking age (750ml) 12 pack of soda (17oz cans)
  8. Thanks. This Messi thing will do wonders for the Florida derby! Sincerely, Long term TFC supporter currently saddled with a dysfunctional franchise....... again
  9. Would the original poster prefer RCL not advertise at all? That doesn't seem like a good business strategy? Messi's move has garnered interest in watching Miami WORLDWIDE I'm betting whatever they paid was cheap for the exposure they might get. Admittedly I don't know if the logo is a shirt sponsorship or how it's visible.... but on the surface seems like an intelligent move.
  10. Your entire post is 100% spot on. Whilst we don't book as many as 2 or 3 a year we always book a year or more in advance. At current prices we aren't even looking at 2024. So eventually I believe there will be a gap where the current strategy will HAVE to be reconsidered. Minimal long term commitments on the books and nobody paying the short term rates either. Additionally the industry may be setting itself up for a perfect storm. Should the greater economy experience a pullback or significant downturn in the near future they're going to need people committed to the "12 months out" vacation. As in "it's already paid for/ got a huge deposit on it, we'll go anyway but after that we're cutting back." It could get very interesting.
  11. Oh I never assumed it was ever free...... just pointing out they'll put a fee on anything they can.
  12. I suspect that has been noted and filed away on every line that has such things. I'm sure the accountants in charge are giving the side eye to the mini golf, zipline, waterslides, Abyss and any other activity they feel could provide a few extra daily charges. Just a case of what will cause the least pushback.
  13. Michael Bayley has confirmed no pizza charge........... however..... RCL DOES charge for popcorn near the Aquatheatre on the Oasis class... so you'll forgive me if I don't quite believe the "oh, this was just a survey, only a survey, and never anything more than a survey" attitude. It's pretty clear they're looking for ways to increase revenue across the board without adding any cost whatsoever.
  14. Thanks to all for the replies! Looks like we should estimate approx $1000 per person and go from there.
  15. Looking at flying to Europe for first time out of YYZ into Rome. Just asking if anyone has recent experience and where the flight costs fell for you?
  16. We are doing some very preliminary pricing for a flight to Europe and have also found this to 100% be the case.
  17. Insanity. Regardless of if it's decent pizza or not, it's one of few food options available for free after the MDR closes up shop. Pretty soon it'll be a FAQ: Q: Are there any non-pay food options available after the MDR/Windjammer closes. A: No, you must pay for food after 9PM. Each guest is permitted to carry on one box of cookies and 1 small bag of candy per stateroom to enhance their experience.
  18. We LOVE Hollywood Beach area. Usually stay at La Quinta a few big blocks from the location you mentioned. (La Quinta N26th Ave) Pros - short drive from FLL, many of the hotels have airport shuttles, you can city bus to the beach, everything you need within a short distance (groceries, restaurants, last minute items, etc etc), Hollywood Beach broadwalk is magnificent to spend a day strolling around Cons - some of the neighborhoods in the area might not be the safest, not ALL transfer companies will go to POM (however there are many that do)
  19. There are two airports - https://www.niagarafallsairport.com/ - smaller, closer to the Queenston/Lewiston bridge https://www.buffaloairport.com/ - larger, further out toward Fort Erie In our experience Niagara Falls has the cheap cheap don't bring luggage, you may get a seat, discount airlines like Allegient, whilst Buffalo has the larger airlines like Southwest/Jet Blue etc....
  20. Two additional thoughts from someone that lives within viewing distance of the border: 1) if you are coming in from Toronto or further check out the hotels directly across the street from the Airport - many will offer a "stay one night, leave your car for free all week" option (at least they did pre-covid) - and as mentioned, the airport is literally across the street 2) if you are driving in same day google "queenston/lewiston" or "peace bridge" traffic camera's - the bridge commission has live stream set up so you can view the bridges when you are 10/15 mins out and decide to either continue down the 405 and cross in Queenston, or continue down the QEW all the way to Peace Bridge if either has a big wait time we fly BUF all the time, one of the biggest appeals is doing customs at the booth driving over, rather than messing about with that at YYZ Edit - one more item of joy at BUF - all parking is on site if you drive in.... 5 mins max on the shuttle, none of the off site hassle you sometimes get at Pearson Traffic camera link: https://www.niagarafallsbridges.com/index.php/services/traffic-conditions
  21. Lots of Pinnacle's shook hands with Michael Bayley and will now name drop relentlessly on Cruise Critic....... "well when I spoke with Michael Bayley"........... 🤣
  22. Then you REALLY don't want to look up the tablecloth discussions........ 😆
  23. LOL - this place crossed that bridge of no return miles ago. Have you heard the one about the pepper mills?
  24. Mom used to say to me "I hope you have kids just like you......." Ahh thanks Mom........ hey, wait a minute!!!!
