  1. Quesion: got what seems to have been a great deal on my next cruise for various reasons. Say I'm paying £1200 for a Veranda 1B and current cost 60 days out is £1600.

However, I could do with 17 more points. The price of concierge is £1700. If I upgrade do I pay the difference between what I paid and now, ie £500 or the price diffeence now £100?

  2. We sailed first 2 times in insides and enjoyed it. We've had balconies since and do prefer but wouldn't hesitate to go back to insides if economics demanded.

what we find importand is to look at the packages. The drinks package is importnat to us and if it's not included with insides we  factor in.

    You'll love it!

  3. We are late 50s and it does depend where the cruise is for age range. Sept Med cruises from the UK we were in youngest 5% but Asia cruise was much younger.

We went on our first M Class in Feb, Milennium which had been "revolutionised", the music around the ships in the various bars from  2 solo guitatists, a classical duo and a swing bar was so good we missed most of the Main Theatre shows. Add to that the Martini Bar which was always rocking and late night in the Cosmos Lounge with the house band dancing and games. We reallly enjoyed and hope to get as good on the Equinox in Sept

Thanks for giving us the correct info! So sorry my "rememberer" got it backwards.

and now it doesn't matter as all cups can take the hot water! Does taste different though if milk is in first it's a but creamier as the hot water emulsifies the milk so it's water then milk, if I have it, for me :)

IIRC, it originally depended on the quality of the tea cup. If it was a fine or more fragile china cup, milk first. Then when the hot tea was poured in, chances are it would not damage the cup. If a more sturdy china cup, it was okay for the hot tea to go in first then the milk. Since the posh folks usually had the finer china, they went milk first.

Nowadays, I assume it boils down to the tea serving ritual you were raised with and who was "Mother".

This is right but wrong way around. The fine china could take the hot water so it was "posh" to pour water first. The "lower" classes used clay cups etc so put milk in first to cool the brew

I think the only worse thing is when someone asks you what you do or did for a job.   Too often it is to size one up.   I personally like to get to know a person for who they are and get to know them.

I’ve on more than one occasion said I was an adult entertainer.  The look on their face was worth a million dollars.

My favourite answer to this is gynaecologist stops that convo dead! lol

I'm also not thrilled about the cutbacks.

As far as entertainment - you are correct there is a difference in definition.

To us it's a choice of things to do in the evening . Live music to listen to. Singers in different venues around the ship.  Maybe a comedian in Celebrity Central. Etc., etc.

I've found the energy on the ship seems to be directly related to who the CD is.

Some schedule the performers often and in multiple venues and some just don't.

I don't think "quiet refinement"  has to mean absolute quiet after 10 or 11 pm.

The Live music thing happened on the Millennium which could have been down to CD who's name I don't remember. Effectively there was live music for 45 mins an hour from about 2pm until 10:45pm moving around various bars including Cafe al Bacio. At 11 everyone was suposed to head for Cosmos lounge

  8. First Equinox in September and really looking forward to it. Entertainment wise we carefully pick our Main Theatre visits and generally avoid production shows but what was great on our Feb cruise on Millennium were the bar entertainers. They were beyond fab. we planned out evenings around which bars had live music on and hope EQ offerings are as good!

  9. We did Mixologu 101 last summer on the Silhouette. We were the only couple there so had the barman all to ourselves. He showed us four different cocktail techniques using top end spirits and we made 4 drinks which we then drank, 3 testers and a full one at the end. It was very enjoyable and that bartender looked after us for the rest of the cruise

  10. Am really enjoying your review. Having recently done my first live review in February I am well aware with the terror of being compared with luminaries like Jim_Iain and ChicagoPaul! I was lucky the Milie was nly a week out of dry lock so there were lots of questions!

I did smile at your Ireland comment and it did make me remember when you mentioned Eddie Jenkins that I was the only one in the theatre to shout out when he said Wales!

Keep up the good work please

  11. The confusion with X dress codes can have unfortunate consequences. On a Silhoutte cruise a year chic night i was in Tux DW long dress we were put on a table with another Brit couple who were in shirt and trousers and cocktail dress. No problem at all. We were then joined by 3 Brit gentlemen in full tux. The other couple were immediately uncomfortable, spent the whole meal apologising, the wife could be heard to say several times "I told you" and they rushed off at the earliest opportunity.

For various reasons the 3 guys were some of the best table mates we have ever had and we talked late into the evening. We all tried to engage the other couple but they just couldn't relax. We saw them in the Martini Bar after and they were still apologising and were aware it was one of those rare very good tables but hadn't been able to join in fully.

    Does anyone

After reading your positive review on Tuscan Grille, we're interested in trying it again after a not so enjoyable experience. Does anyone have a photo of the new menu to peruse prior to our upcoming cruise? Thanks!

I have these from my post revolution trip on the Millennium assume there isn’t much difference. We really enjoyed Tuscan and Qsine.

  13. I like wearing a tux, maybe because i wear a suit and tie for work so it's dressier. Cruises from UK seem to have heavier tux wear and I didn't take on our recent cruise from Hong Kong.

A year or so ago I noticed the increase in Hawaiian shirts on Celeb and commented on here which caused a bit of a rumpus as people thought I was criticising, in fact quite the opposite i am now the proud owner of about a dozen Tommy Bahama shirts, a couple non patterned all of will be coming with me to the Caribbean in September on the Equinox.

As many have said wear what you won't you won't be the only ones in tux and ballgown and you won't be the only ones in chino's and polo shirts!

I think it’s quite possible they didn’t finish up a few things, yet the ship had to sail, so off she went and you have cabins with missing bedside lamps, missing coffee tables, chairs that won’t slide under the desk, etc. I think it’s possible a lot of this stuff will be worked out and maybe bigger couches are on the way, for example. The way things are right now are not necessarily how they will stay forever.

On   the Millennium second sailing after the revolution they worked on our room 4 days running including fitting shelves and lips to shelves, fitting the Back drop to the bed and a vent for the air con. They made it quite clear that it would take a while to do all the "little" bits
