  1. These days on most cruise lines, shirts with collars (even polo shirts), tucked in or not, and non-ripped pants will find you in the majority, even on formal or chic nights. It is true that generally, shorts are mildly discouraged at night for dinner, especially on formal nights, but it is unlikely that you would not be allowed and probably nothing would be said. Ignore those lovely pictures of beautiful people all dressed up, also all skinny and elegant, as those are the cruise lines fantasy of what they imagine it will be like.
  2. Do check the timing- I think that Canada requires a negative test within two days prior to boarding- not three. And the day of sailing doesn't count, So, for example, we are sailing on a Friday out of Vancouver so we can test Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Timing doesn't matter- just days.
  3. Back to Wildest Kitchen- I would be interested in any reviews from people who have done it. We are whale watching in the afternoon and wondering if we should sign up for the kitchen. The Hoonan excursion does not get great reviews, and that is about our only other choice. The gondola looks interesting but wouldn't reserve it til we were there and knew what the weather was- a cold foggy rainy trip up the mountain doesn't sound like fun. We will take the other gondola from the ship into the excursion centre.
  4. Don't give up hope yet. About a week ago all Aqua and Concierge cabins were showing as booked, although there were a number of the standard balconies available. Then suddenly a couple of days ago, both A and C opened up with a lot of open cabins. I simply don't believe that that many people booked and then canceled this close to sailing and in such a short period of time so I am blaming it on web issues. But I do agree as the trip get closer- now 7 days- hope is waning. And thanks- looking forward to Alaska- I have been numerous times in the past but it will be a first cruise and first trip to Alaska for my sister in law. It will also be my first step away from home since March 13 2020 when we were shut in with CoVid so I am very excited to be traveling again.
  5. The website that I can access has reverted to what had been normal not long ago, although reversed- I have to click on a bid to get to the page which shows the pending or expired bids. And FlorenceItaly- I am feeling the same way although as I look at availability, there are still a lot of cabins open.
  6. I don't think I wanted to hear that Jim😒. I think that my brain simply blurs out all posting of positive results, although I have friends who woke up sick the day they were leaving.
  7. Seems like most people are testing negative. Has anyone tested positive? I am finding it hard to believe that I will really be sailing next week until I get that final test result.
  8. Did do some research after posting and apparently I should not have been surprised. I haven't bought king crab perhaps ever so had no idea it was so pricey. Significantly more than lobster.
  9. $200.00? As in, $67 a pound? Am I the only one shocked?
  10. Thanks- that seems to be what I see, too. Pity they changed it- I did like seeing if bids had expired or not. Oh well- they have to make a decision pretty soon as we sail in 8 days.
  11. Also at the hotel. Until then I have our hotel name and address in case the luggage goes a lost on the way to port.
  12. We have appointments with them for testing next week so glad to hear that some have been successful with them. Curious how they handle two people being tested- I realize that they will walk us through it but do they test us at the same time?
  13. Is it just on my computer or has the web page for move up bids changed? I went to check and see what the current status was and all I can see is that bids have been received. No pending or expired. The old page (if indeed it has been changed) provided a lot more information. Is there another way to access MU to see the old page?
  14. Although I love aft balconies, the advantage to a forward cabin is that the naturalist onboard, assuming that you have one, will be pointing out things looking towards the front of the ship. So not just for glaciers but for whatever else they are seeing- whales, eagles, special scenery. Agree if you are going to be sailing on the west side of Vancouver Island you may hit rough seas in the open ocean which can be an issue. So- sorry but it does appear that you will simply need two cabins!😉
  15. Would there be something wrong with a male therapist?
  16. The Canadian government website finally clarified this- and 3g is correct. If you are not returning to Canada you do not need another ArriveCAN. Although even now you have to read the entire ArriveCAN section on their website before they make it clear.
  17. What is incorrect about this? Other than the fact that there is an "inside passage" north of Vancouver Island so I suppose that would count. But having taken the Seattle round trip claiming to sail the inside passage, I was very disappointed. It is the section from Vancouver to the end of the island which has the amazing scenery.
  18. Thanks- and you too. I also thought that surely by now.....but no. Looks like it will be quite some time still.
  19. On reading this I had a momentary panic- we sail on a Friday and just scheduled our tests for Wednesday. And despite having spent hours sorting out the ArriveCAN and testing requirements, I suddenly had no idea of when we had to take the test. So had to look it up to respond here and quiet my rapidly beating heart. I'm not sure I can get fully in cruise mode until the testing is complete and I have a piece of paper saying negative on it- we have had to cancel several times already because of CoVid (not because we were sick- just cause) and a part of me is certain that having gone for more than 2 1/2 years it will chose just this exact moment to turn up positive. It happened to a friend of mine the morning they were flying out for 2 cruises and extended time in Europe. Her husband woke up feel poorly and sure enough- positive. Can't believe how easy things were in the Before Times.
  20. According to the website, within 2 days. Day of sailing does not count so if you sail on the 7th, you can get your test on the 5th or 6th. Pre-Cruise Testing Out of an abundance of caution, Celebrity Cruises requires all guests two years of age and older to present a digital or printed copy of a supervised, negative COVID-19 test result in order to board any sailing. All vaccinated guests are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result at the time of embarkation. This test may be taken as either as an Antigen or PCR test, conducted within two days of boarding the ship.
  21. Have done a mock up booking to see what is available for a July 22 cruise- thinking about what might be available for Move-Up. On the Celebrity website, suddenly over the past few days, all Aqua and Concierge cabins are gone, although there are a lot of regular balconies available, This was a surprise since a week ago there were still many many of both- especially the Concierge cabins. And when I did a similar mock booking on another website there are still a lot of both Aqua and Concierge available. Is this just another example of the Celebrity website having problems? Or am I missing something? Are they assigning them to Move Up bidders? I know that some online booking agents will reserve an inventory of cabins, but by now, 12 days out, they would have been released. In the end it doesn't really matter since we have bid and will get what we get but it is confusing.
  22. You don’t need to test to enter the US. BUT- if you test and are positive it would be quite unethical to board a plane or a bus. So- unless you are feeling poorly- what are the ethics of not testing just to avoid a silent positive. Hm… don’t know.
  23. So it seems like having a concierge doesn’t amount to a whole lot. What are the benefits of Concierge Class, given that the cabins are significantly more expensive than a standard veranda.
  24. So nice to read this- we will be taking this excursion with them in a few short weeks. Sounds like you have good weather too. Finally beginning to get excited about our trip although I will not allow myself to get fully excited until we get the CoVid test over with. Not that we have any reason to worry but still- we worry.
