  1. If you are returning to Vancouver having been out of the country (cruising to USA then back to Canada counts), you will need to complete the ArriveCan. If your trip went from home in Canada directly to Vancouver, then on to Alaska where you disembarked, you would not need the ArriveCAN for the cruise. You WOULD need to be tested for CoVid before boarding the cruise ship, where ever it went (this is a Canadian regulation- your cruiseline probably requires this too). . When you took your trip home to Canada, then you would need ArriveCan since you were coming to Canada from outside.
  2. We found that it was much closer to sail date before the app was populated with cruse information, especially meals. Excursions are available on the website very early although there are changes and specials that appear as the time approaches.
  3. And a third confirmation. The day you sail isn't included leaving you with the 29 and 30 plus sail day.
  4. If this is still being debated- we had several non related adults on our ArriveCAN. As long as you are all vaccinated, and following the same trip plan, this is fine. Up to 8 of you in a group. Also chatted with an airline employee who has done this dozens of times.
  5. All my MoveUp buds were rejected. Received emails telling me this at just under 48 hours before sail away. But- We were among the first to board. First in line at customer relations. Was put on waitlist and late in afternoon offered a balcony upgrade from OV for no additional cost. I noticed that a number of others also were upgraded. The ship was about 3/4 full so would guess that there were a fair number of cabins available.
  6. Mine says that is I try to use Tapatalk. I access CC through the internet on my phone. No idea why that works but it does.

  8. So exactly at 48 hours before setting sail, I received rejection emails on all my bids. Very disappointed but at least we know. Will ask if it is possible at check in. Or would asking at guest services once onboard be better?
  9. My credit card sends me a text within seconds of a new charge so it is likely that this is how I would learn of an acceptance, too. It can be strange- I order coffee and have the charge before the drink.
  10. I was asked for insurance information when I got the “free” vaccinations and booster shots so this seemed fairly routine to me. No indication that my insurance was ever charged.
  11. We completed the OnPoint this morning. We had a set of forms to complete last night before the testing this morning, which was a bit of a surprise as nobody had mentioned this, but they were not terribly difficult. They did include our insurance, among other things. The only odd thing about the actual testing is that we could not see the tester- although he could see us. There were two of us and we did it simultaneously. Both of us were negative (YEA!!!) and it took about 20 minutes in total. We had to show him our unopened test boxes, then opened them and did the actual test in front of the computer. After completing the tests, we waited for a bit before he checked them and declared us negative. We got two emails- the first one did not include the printable test results. The second one had two attachments, one for each of us, which could be printed out.

  13. Is there a 48 hour shut down of accepting information? Pretty sure I have read this someplace. But as jhagen suggests, just bring hard copies of everything and you should be fine. This is a good idea even if the website accepted everything- computers have been known to have problems and they ALWAYS do so at the very worst moment. Enjoy your trip! By now you have passed the last difficult hurdle- you have a negative CoVid test to show. We do that in a couple of hours and I am very anxious about it. No reason since we have been very careful but I will be really relieved once we have those negative results in hand!

  15. We sail Friday and still nothing on our bids. As of yesterday there were still many cabins in veranda and Concierge and some in Aqua available. All our bids are still pending. What is the latest we might hear and do they notify us if all of them have been rejected? I had hoped to hear before now, especially after our bids went expired except one several weeks ago, only to have them all revert to pending days later. Is it possible that something has gone wrong?
  16. Just keep in mind that the cruise lines are also bound by the regulations of other countries that the ship may visit. Case in point- Canada. Whether the cruise line requires testing or not- Canada currently does prior to boarding if the ship goes to or leaves from any Canadian port. I’m not up on the regulations in other countries but I imagine that Canada is not alone.

Direct Quote on ArriveCAN application: "People traveling together with the same purpose of travel and who plan to be at the same location for the full duration of their quarantine period can be listed below (up to 8 travellers) and can enter Canada together using the same ArriveCAN E-receipt. Exemptions will be confirmed at the time of entry. " Also as a heads up- you are allowed to complete the ArriveCAN 72 hours in advance of travel but you need to wait until 72 hours before your actual time of arrival. I just completed it (figuring that it let me so it was okay) but then realized that it was actually timed on my receipt. So it is times for 4:30 when I don't arrive until 15:00. Will have to go back and redo it later today but that should take about 2 minutes.
  18. Living in the tropics there were two things that we seriously missed- potato chips and crusty bread. The humidity would soften both up in minutes. We could get Pringles and if we ate them quickly they would be fine. If we delayed even a short time we had limp chips. Small single bags of chips worked sort of.
  19. We are reading this differently. My reading of this is that if the vaccination status is not the same, the niece would need to meet the criteria you list. But if the group has the same status and will be traveling together, they can use a single ArriveCAN. We will find out on Thursday since I am including my sister in law on my application. She does not live with us but we are both vaccinated and will be traveling together the entire time. We will have time to complete a second ArriveCAN if needed.
  20. Fouremco- This appears to say that if you are traveling with others with the same vaccination status and traveling entirely together that you can include others. If the vaccination status is not the same, or if you will not be together for the entire trip, that you cannot be on the same ArriveCAN. https://www.canada.ca/en/border-services-agency/services/arrivecan.html#travel-with-others The website you quote says: Fully vaccinated travellers, families and groups Find out if you qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption If you're travelling with others, you can include multiple travellers in your ArriveCAN submission. However, if you do not travel together, update your travel submission with this change.
  21. Glad to hear this as we are set up to do the same. Purplsmurf- where is the information you posted from? I worried when I saw it and did a serious search and all I could find was the information I posted from the Canadian government website for ArriveCAN for cruising.
  22. According to the Canadian website- groups do not need to use more than one ArriveCAN. " c) Select travellers for this trip If you’re travelling to Canada in a group and intend to stay together for the duration of your quarantine period, you do NOT need to create separate ArriveCAN accounts for each member. You can add up to eight travellers to your trip for the purpose of your ArriveCAN receipt. In order to do so, you need to share travel document information and COVID-19 proof of vaccination for each traveller within your account. "
  23. Can your credit card company help? Were the initial flight charges done separately? Worth giving it a try. Sounds awful and hard to imagine what happened and why they canceled your flights.
  24. Canada DOES require a test to board a cruise ship. NOT to enter the country.
  25. Wow indeed! Wonder how close the smaller excursion boat got? I would guess that the closer you can get, the less likely the calving since it is the presence of icebergs that, to a large degree, determine how close the ships can get. The more calving, the more icebergs. Your picture is great and does show very little ice in the water. Take care of the ship please- we board as you are leaving!
