  1. Not really. There is nothing convenient to Logan. There is a large CVS in the Seaport about a mile from the cruiseport.
  2. Here's the menu from Christmas on Enchantment last year - I did a live review of it as well. I think this was the Christmas Eve formal night.
  3. The rates right now are really quite good for the Christmas cruise. I just booked a cabin - I had been looking at it before it was cancelled, and so was pretty excited that it appears to now be back on.
  4. We found that out with the seemingly deafening 6:00 announcement on departure morning. The captain's voice startled us fully awake (note - I'm not complaining). I am sure it was to help make sure we were all up and out in an orderly and timely fashion.
  5. We saw bald eagles and harbor seals on a tour boat excursion in Bar Harbor. I saw a sunfish (mola mola) and my partner saw a whale from the ship leaving Bar Harbor.
  6. I completely agree when traveling solo. On my next Vision cruise, it isn't even $10 a day more than the internet. It's more like $6 or $7.
  7. It was Dutch in Bar Harbor on my Zuiderdam cruise. Here's some pictures of the treats:
  8. A couple of weeks ago on Holland, we all had to fill out paper Canadian customs forms and drop them off at Guest Services before our first Canadian port call. So the app doesn't seem to be an option. I will say, it is great when you are flying into Canada. It probably saved us 30 or 40 minutes at YUL.
  9. We did the opposite last week - Quebec to YUL. It took about 2:45 on a Saturday morning with no traffic. It was very easy. For the outgoing shuttles, there was information in the cruise planner online about the earliest possible flights for the shuttles to the airport. I assume there may be something similar for incoming flights.
  10. I flew on Air Canada out of Montreal to the US last week. I saw nothing that looked like an automatic sizer, nor did I see anyone get questioned about their carry luggage. And we were on a full flight on a small plane. Also, you should consider downloading the Mobile Passport app - it can really speed up things at preclearance in Montreal if it's crowded.
  11. There was shower with scents in the room with the heated loungers. The view is lovely.
  12. So you can download that day's menu in the navigator app by clicking on dining and then main dining, and then dinner menu. If you ship is on the same itinerary this week as your week, the menus should be the same. I just got back from a Boston to Quebec cruise on Zuiderdam and posted all the menus. They are very similar to these menus.
  13. I love the blueberry muffins from the Maker's Gallery - it's just down the street from the dock and is much less crowded than Holy Donut or Standard Bakery. The lines at Standard have always been too much for me.
  14. On Zuiderdam, the walls weren't magnetic enough for my hooks, but the doors to both the bathroom and the corridor were.
  15. The only thing I can think of is that galley on Zaandam might be significantly smaller, with less prep space for gluten free cooking.
  16. There are multiple shuttle times - you'll get information onboard about it. There are plenty of cabs as well. They meet you right at the terminal door. Also, several people mention that the check in counters for Delta and United didn't open until two hours before flight time. Air Canada was reportedly open earlier than that.
  17. Honestly - not at all. I saw zero tuxedos/gowns, and almost no suits. Some blazers, but not that many.
  18. It's only a 40 minute flight from YUL to BOS, and without traffic, we are 25 minutes from the airport. It helped that I booked a car service. It's about 2.5 times the cost of an Uber, but it is such a nice way to end a trip with loads of baggage.
  19. We made it home around 7:00 pm. Laundry has been started, and I just got back from the grocery store. I will say, the HAL bus to Montreal Airport is a very good way to get out of Quebec City, if there are no direct flights from Quebec.
  20. Well, thanks for coming along, and I hope you enjoyed it. Happy to answer any questions anyone has. And I'm sure I'll be back with live threads for both my holiday solo cruise (on Royal) and our Zuiderdam trip next year. Otherwise, as my room steward said to us this morning - See you when we see you again.
  21. The staff does a very good job. I think they were stretched thinner than normal in some places. I wasn't at all bothered by it, but you could kind of tell. I think they onboarded a bunch of new people at the start of our cruise, and there was a surprise Canadian health inspection in Halifax that seemed to cause some chaos, so it's completely understandable. To be clear, I would never complain at all about it to Holland, because it didn't impact our experience.
  22. In terms of the ports, Charlottetown was definitely our favorite, followed closely by Quebec. Which is not to say the others weren't lovely as well. We loved the Crow's Nest, from the layout to the bar to the staff to the games and puzzles - it was terrific. The arts and crafts activities were great - I wish I had done more of them. And the space is also very nice. I loved the 7 am stretching class - I went twice and wished I had gone a few more times, or gone to one of the 4:30 ones. And those are included in the fare. We can't decide if we think the thermal pass is worth it. We have a ton of OBC for our next cruise, so if any are available on embarkation day we might try to use some of it then.
  23. A few wrap up posts as we sit in the Air Canada lounge, drinking tea and waiting for our flight. First, we both had a terrific time. My partner really enjoyed the cruise, although she says she prefers port days to sea days. Of course, it didn't help that on the sea day we were basically confined to the inside because of the wind. Second, I totally see what people love Holland, and I would (am) absolutely do it again, but I also see why people like taking different lines. I am both looking forward to my Christmas cruise on Royal and our cruise next fall on Holland. I'm not sure whether I'd want to cruise on Holland solo, as I feel like the slower pace might get a bit lonely.
  24. We got to the airport WAY early for our 4:45 pm flight. I had worried we wouldn't make the 1:30, so we are spending a lot of time at YUL. We have business class tickets because they were about the same price as economy plus a checked bag. We were able to check when we arrived (which was great), but we can't access the lounge under 1:45. So we are getting lunch and just hanging out.
  25. The bus to Montreal was super easy and took just under three hours. Here are some pictures from the bus: Crossing the St. Lawrence near Quebec: Not sure exactly what this is: The Richelieu - my partner can trace her family history back to the early 1600s to a French settlement along the Richelieu. And the St. Lawrence again near Montreal:
