  1. We have also been to Nassau many times, and now we often just stay on the ship unless we are looking for something in particular, the last time we were in Nassau we had the grand kids with us and walked around the tourist area without any issues.

As with any other city/country you travel to be aware of your surroundings, don't flash valuables/cash and you will be fine.

  2. Once again Royal manages to shoot themselves in the foot, first they announce they are going to enhance the suite benefits this spring, then they announce that the announcement won't be until the fall, but wait the actual program won't begin until sometime in 2016.

i wonder how many people went and reserved a suite, because of the initial announcements ?? Thankfully we didn't .

  3. Interesting article with information, from Vicki Freed, about the "new" Suite program.

    http://www.travelpulse.com/news/cruise/royal-caribbean-spotlights-new-ads-new-initiatives-at-conference.html

Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales, said at a press conference at cruise3sixty, the conference sponsored by Cruise Lines International Association for travel agents.

Freed also said the line was working on a new inclusive amenity program for guests who book suites, expanding beyond the exclusive restaurant, Coastal Kitchen, offered on several ships.

"We really want to make it a wow," Freed said. "The announcement should come this fall to roll out in 2016."

"It will include private areas just for suite guests and a more inclusive vacation experience," she said, declining to reveal more at this time.

So The CEO, writes that the new program will be announced in the spring,

And Vicki Freed, writes that the announcement will be in the fall! Do these

    Two talk??

  4. First of all, I agree it shouldn't have happened. But that said, you got an equivalent cabin, so why is it such a big deal? Was there some particular reason you needed to be right next door to your friends/family? Again, it shouldn't have happened, I'm just trying to figure out why it is so crucial to be right next door.

    A. It is what they planned.

    B. It is a big deal, or they would have planned differently.

    C. Because they wanted to be next door to each other.

  5.

My husband and I did almost all Coastal Kitchen and Specialties last November on the Oasis and loved the experience. The only "meh" dining experience we had was on the one night we went to the MDR. If I had it to do over again, the only thing I'd do differently would be to eliminate the MDR night.

Don't overlook the Solarium Bistro...we thought it was a hidden gem!:)

We did the same thing during our December Oasis cruise, our only complaint was the one MDR night, and we totally agree the Solarium Bistro was very good

  6. I agree 100%, mostly because I know how the OP feels.

Tell it like it is and call out those who are responsible. If others can't handle it, too bad.

I totally agree, being "politically correct" should never force another to compromise the safety or health of the OP and her family, during the unsafe situations they encountered on this cruise.

  7. Other then the name CL versus DL, what is the difference, if Royal decides that the "former" CL will now be the Suite Lounge, it is a decision made to please the persons who have purchased the most expensive cabins on the ship.

It will not matter to us if we enjoy happy hour in the "D" lounge, or in one of the bars using the 3 drink coupons per day.

All of the other D+ coupons/benefits are still in place, the only real change will be the location that you will have a free drink.

  8. I understand that the number of D+s puts pressure on RC to exclude them from the CL.

That said, shouldn't this be a policy change that comes from corporate, and not at the whim of an individual CL (as might be the case with EN)? Additionally, policy changes of this type should have a start date, and that date should be outside of the final payment deadline, to allow for any cancellations that the change might precipitate.

I would seriously doubt that there would be many cancellations due to not

being granted access to the CL.

I remember when we as diamond members were no longer allowed in the CL, it didn't make any difference in our cruising plans.

  9. I'm confused. Is a passport card acceptable for travel in the Caribbean? Before we depart on the western route-Labadee,Caymans, Jamaica, Cozumel, we need to acquire passports for a 19 yo,15 yo and 13 yo. A passport card is definitely cheaper and I can't imagine they will be traveling outside of The U.S, Canada, Caribbean in the future. I last cruised the western rt in 2010 & only remember using my passport to get back into US. I do remember bringing my drivers license when I would get off the ship in ports? Has anyone had experience using the passport cards with kids?

If you have the time to apply I would get the book for the 19 yr old, and the card for the two younger teens as the passport experation dates are different only 5 years for the 15 and 13 yr olds. 10 for all others.

  10. When Chops was $20. Per person, the service and atmosphere were exactly like an upscale land based steak house, over the years the service and quality has reduced while the price has increased.

We have stopped going to Chops, mainly because of the quality that just hasn't been there for several years, prices increase all the time for most things we enjoy, Chops just forgot to continue the quality and service, while increasing the price to double what we Originally paid when first going to the restaurant.

  11. Flying in Saturday for a Sunday cruise.

Does any one know if there is an Orlando hotel that provides a shuttle to PC ?

    TIA

When we went on the Freedom, flew into Orlando, rented a car from Budget, cost for car was $40, and stayed at the Radisson.

In the morning I drove the car to budget which is only about two blocks from the hotel, and walked back to the hotel, then took the shuttle to the port, cost was

    $8 per person.
