Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has announced that it has entered into an agreement with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the cruise company to develop the next phase of Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, N.J. The $55 million project will include the construction of a new, state-of-the-art guest terminal, with 125,000 sq. ft. of check-in, customs and immigration, and luggage processing space, as well as a 900-car parking structure and pier improvements. The new facilities will be erected adjacent to the current terminal used to welcome guests and will accommodate the cruise company’s ships, including the next-generation Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, each to start service at Cape Liberty in November 2014 and 2015, respectively. Ground breaking has already occurred and the new terminal is scheduled to be completed in November 2014.
“The planned state-of-the-art cruise terminal at Cape Liberty will perfectly complement our Quantum-class ships,” said Adam Goldstein, president and COO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “We are glad to work with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to develop world-class facilities for vacationers to embark on the most innovative cruise ships for an experience that can only be found on Royal Caribbean.”
Opened in May 2004, Cape Liberty Cruise Port is located 15 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport and seven miles south of Manhattan. The port is the year-round home of Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas, and seasonally for Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Summit. The port will welcome the highly anticipated Quantum of the Seas for its inaugural season sailing to the Caribbean and Bahamas starting in November 2014. Liberty of the Seas will then homeport at Cape Liberty in summer 2015 and become Royal Caribbean International’s largest and most innovative cruise ship to sail to Bermuda. In winter 2015, Cape Liberty will be the homeport for Quantum of the Seas’ sister-ship Anthem of the Seas, after the ship completes its inaugural season in Europe.
“The City of Bayonne welcomes the expansion of Royal Caribbean’s Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal along with the related construction and permanent jobs, enhanced tourism and commerce that will be created as Royal Caribbean expands their home port at the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor,” said Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith. “Their plans fully complement our plans to develop Harbor Station South as a full service retail, and commercial destination with flagship hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues close to the port.”

If the $ 1,200 isn't an issue, one big advantage is having your sons in the cabin next door, if the balcony divider can be opened that is a plus, the easier use of the bathrooms between the seven people a plus.

Blue is my favorite color. But I guess I can live with green if it is a safer safe.
Just make sure that the green safe was painted with the upgraded green paint. The older paint doesn't have the extra protective coating. :)

I would have your daughter write a statement that she is the sole caretaker of (son) and attest that the birth father is not a part of the boys life and she is granting the boys maternal grandmother permission to travel on a cruise.
Have the form witnessed and notarized. I would guess that if the son was questioned as to the relationship by an agent at the pier, the 15 yr old would tell it like it is.

We did the Panama Canal Cruise on the Jewel it was a Great trip. have you thought about a full suite?

I need Help pure and Simple
My husband and I generally take a cruise for our Anniversary in Oct... With the promo RCI is running right now I can get a JR suite for about $2500 or a Grand Suite for $3200. We have never had a suite before we generally cruise in the aft bc we love the larger balconies, and spend a great deal of time on it. Some of the perks of the GS would be nice like having the expanded menu and access to the C lounge. On the other hand the Jr suite has a much larger balcony (with full loungers) and is $700 dollars less expensive. What should I book?????
Thanks in Advance
Jenn
Its your Anniversary, go for the GS, for $100 a day, I would

This is only a decision for you to make, $1,600, is equal to a week's cruise price for one person on most balcony cabins.
Are the "perks" worth it to you, good luck with your decision.

On a cruise I only go in the casino to play slots or table games for fun, the house has to much of an advantage.

I always worry about the subways at night going to and from CP.
Ever since they added the Police K-9 teams on the trains, the subway thru CP is much safer.

Not trying to argue as we often do private tours as well, but the tour buses come continually all day and not just from the cruise ships. So how does a driver "keep ahead of them"?
Not to further your arguement:
Mainly by getting about a 30 min head start leaving the pier area, it doesn't take long to load 4 people into a van, as opposed to trying to get the 50 passengers on a bus.
And yes, we did run into some tour buses, but we also were able to be one step ahead of the major group of tour buses from the ships.

Yes they scan your seapass card, We always donate stopped taking the shirts several cruise ago.
-
We always keep old hotel room door cards, in our suit case and use them if we run into swipe card type safes.

When we did our Med cruise, our family (4) used Rome in Limo for 4 ports, including Rome. They were outstanding and I highly recommend them. They are a private tour (a Mercedes car) and you pay for the tour, not per person like the ship's tours. It ended up being about the same and a much better tour, I imagine. Check them out as there are all sorts of reviews on CC.
Totally agree with the above post, we also used them for 4 of the ports and had a great time, our driver's were excellent, and it was a pleasure to avoid all the crowds as the drivers kept ahead of the tour busses.

No RCL ship has a self serve laundry. Wow 4 answers at exact same time

Our 12-15-2013, cruise on the Freedom stopped in San Juan, we docked at the pier in Old San Juan.

We had a hump JS on the Jewel, we got up early and got a spot on the heli-pad for the approach to the locks.
When we returned to the cabin while still in the lock it was interesting to see just how close the side of the ship was to the lock wall.
As I recall the guide could be heard over the intercom in the room.

We are currently at the diamond level in the program, and like to sail in a Junior Suite for the added room etc, but when a good deal is available on a full suite we grab it, and enjoy the CL when in the full suite.
We love when the CL Police try the 20 questions approach to find out what our level in the program is or how many cruises we have been on, it becomes part of the entertainment for the evening.
But the vast majority of people we have encountered are just happy to be on a cruise and could care less about any status/level

I would say that since you are so prepared, your going to get a check-in clerk who knows what they are doing and won't ask for the extra proof that you have.
It's Better to have and not need, then to need and not have!

In September of 2000, we were sailing on a Celebrity ship from NY to Bermuda, leaving at the dock next to us was the Big Red boat.
When we returned to NY at the end of the cruise, we were informed that the Big Red Boat was seized by the bank, and the passengers were flown home from Freeport, Bahama.

We used Bernard's in Dec. on the early morning tour, Maho beach was the last stop before returning to the ship, if you wanted to I am sure they would leave you there so you could view more planes, and you can take one of the numerous taxis back to the ship.
-
We recently had our grand children at Coco Cay, (5 & 8) we took them on the glass bottom boat excursion, they had a great time, in Nassau we made it a pool day.
-
The last time we were In St Maarten, we did a trip with Bernard's tours our driver was named Sugar, nice tour of both sides of the island with a stop at Maho beach.
On a previous trip (with a party of 6) we rented a van from Hertz, did a self tour with a 2 hour stop at Maho beach, Island is easy to navigate just leave plenty of time for trip back to pier in case of traffic.
