  1. Any discount that is offered by RCL, requires proof that you are entitled to that discount, otherwise your cruise fare will be adjusted to reflect the current rate at time of check in at the pier.

Your, Police/Fire ID card, or proof of Military service, (DD214/ID card) will be sufficent.

  2. Our first visit to chops was in 2005, on the Enchantment of the Seas, the service, astmosphere, selection, was just what you would expect at a fine steakhouse, the charge at that time was $20 per person.

In the past few years the whole experience has changed, it doesn't feel like you are in an upscale steakhouse any more.

  3. I know that the points awarded and changes in the levels in the program occur after the completed cruise,

I wonder what would be the cost for C&A to adjust your status on the day you reach the new level? I would guess the actual cost would be minimal if anything, its not like you would be getting an additional discount on the cruise price, it's well past final payment.

I think it would be more of a feel good perk for the cruiser, as opposed to any actual significant cost to the cruise line.

  4. Is anyone else still having issues with the website? I want to purchase the alcohol packages but its just not loading at all.

Just tried to make specialty dining reservations, for the December cruise, the dining page won't load.

I was able to view other portions of the planner but dining just won't load.

  5. My first cruise is coming up in a few weeks and we will be in Nassau from 7am-midnight. Our plan for the morning is to check out the rum distillery and some of the other sites in that area and then spend the late afternoon and evening on the beach. My question is, how easy is it to get back on the ship to change, drop off purchases, and possibly have lunch? How long does it take to get on and off in the middle of the day and what does that process entail?

    Thank you!

You will need your seapass and a picture ID, drivers license will be sufficent, the lines will vary depending on when other ships in port may be leaving. Worst case getting back on ship during the middle of the day would be 30 minutes, getting back off only a few minutes.

  6. To add to the confusion:

Navigator 7 night July 6th, look at the price of a JS, as opposed to the W Gty. No other suite is showing available, so the assumption is you may get better then a JS?

Not me I will pick my cabin.... won't trust any gty. offered

  7. I have many times found the best pricing to be well after dates have opened up.

Just to clarify it really depends on your destination, for instance

Phila. (PHL) to Ft.Myers (RSW) the price never comes down after the initial pricing comes out, once the lowest price seats are gone, I have never found a better price then the initial offering.

But you are also correct, I have found better deals after the opening date.

  8. Another tip for southwest, pay attention to when they open up the next booking segment, The schedule is now open until January 4th, 2015, when they open up for travel dates beyond Jan 4th, the best deals will be available at that time.

  9. I don't know if this helps or not but here are the T&C with regards to GTY bookings from the UK site....

What concerns me is the 'at our discretion' bit.

In the above it does state that " in any event, you are "guaranteed" the minimum catagory of stateroom we agree to offer at the time of booking", it describes a W cat as deluxe stateroom.

My understanding of the W catagory has always been a JS or higher.

  10. Philadelphia Police Officers work 261 days? That means they get 104 days off..divided by 7 =14.85 weeks off, which is 3.7 months...not too bad either!

Sorry but even Police Officers, are allowed two days off a week, just like many other jobs.

When you put the original statement into context, the Phila. teachers work a total of 188 days a year,

for much more salary as opposed to the 261 days a year a Phila Police Officer works

As a comparison a 10 year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, makes $65,567 per year, with or without a masters degree, they work 261 days a year, nights/weekends no snow days, no spring break etc: and no two month vacation each summer. Again all public records easy to check.

  11. Actually 11 weeks off for us....and guess what I have done on my vacation so far..... Nothing because there is no rush since I have 73 days off until I go back. And next Friday I leave on my week long cruise. Then I coach golf....which I get paid for as well.

People can hate on my professional all they want.....there is a shortage of us you know....go get your degree and experience it for yourself.

    BTW.....The Pension is awesome.

Thank you, for helping me make my point, I have no intention of getting any degree, my next job begins in 6 months it's called full time retired. After 43 years.

  12. You obviously have absolutely no idea what teachers do or the hours of preparation required. Teachers don't just show up for class and start teaching they prepare for the classes extensively. Most teachers who care about the way they do their job start work well before students arrive and finish well after students leave. They also go to the school weeks in advance of the start of the school year to prepare their classroom usually at their own expense so that children have a bright and cheery and mentally stimulating place to go to learn. You really think it is good pay to gross $46,694 per year after earning a masters degree? And yes they do have the choice to go into a different profession. Thank God they don't all do so!
