I really don't care what it costs as long as it is not a nasal swab. We won't get that. If they will allow a cheek swab or a saliva test, we're good. No way we're doing a nasal swab though.

Same for us! No way we are getting a "brain biopsy". So many things could go wrong when an untrained person is shoving a foreign object up your nose.
We are friends with several ER docs and every single one of them said if your "up-the-nose" swab didn't hurt like the devil, then you didn't get a good test. And certainly not if they give you the swab to "do it yourself".- 1

I've never had a drink package and never had any problems. Just like poocher says......they scan you card and you get a drink.
Charges go to your account. Easy peasy!

Well, it will be interesting to say the least on how this is to play out. But I still think that the CDC requiring masks for cruise ships is going to hurt the passenger count be they vaccinated or non-vaccinated. People will wait until the CDC changes the rules.
Protocals every where you go. Not my kind of cruise. I'll wait it out.
Ditto for us

While it looks like cumbersome, Royal is giving people fair warning and fair options:
Show vax proof? Cool. Welcome aboard.
No proof? Fine, too, but you need to pay extra/pax for testing and face limits on board
Unhappy with those two? Fine, too. We'll give you a full refund.
Passengers who don’t want to pay for the additional testing or follow the newly announced protocols for the ship can cancel their trips for a full refund, Royal Caribbean said.
At least they are upfront about what to expect. I doubt there will be any significant # of unvaxx passengers that want to wear a mask or incur extra expenses.

How is that Apparent? That was a leap not supported by any comment I or anyone else made.
well, you said you would be unhappy if there was an outbreak by an unvaxx passenger. ( " I will be an unhappy cruiser if there is an outbreak among the unvaccinated")
But no mention if it turned out to be a passenger that had been vaxx. That was what my comment was about . I would think there would be unhappiness no matter if the cruisers were vaxx or unvaxx.- 1

My friend, did you chose of your own free will to take the vaccine?
No, my friend, I did not.

You mention the recent "outbreak". I am aware of 2 cases on one ship and an outbreak in the crew (who were only partially vaccinated)
Also the 8 (at last count) of crew on RCCL that was vaxx but showed up as +

At least vaxxed passengers who contract Covid 19 will survive and not end up hospitalized. Their family and friends will not have to worry about their loved one dying (especially with the Delta variant), or about the potential financial impact of medical care. Being vaccinated is a win-win for the individual and the local and global community.
So in your opinion, anyone that gets covid that is unvaxx will end up either hospitialized or dead?

Silly question. One can be unhappy over any outbreak, but with unvaccinated people, the risk is higher.
Not silly at all. Apparently there will only be unhappiness if an outbreak is caused by an unvaxx person, but won't be any uproar if more vaxx people keep showing up positive. Got it!

The only way to not find covid on cruise ships is to stop testing. Vaccinated or not, there will be cases found when testing is done no matter where.
If you aren't scared, but aren't vaccinated, then just go about your business. It is your decision to make, not the government's. The vaccinations are effective, but also is acquired immunity. Those who are vaccinated and still panicked, .. get over it.. your chance of getting a bad case is tiny.
Time to move on from covid panic, and start talking about your next cruise.
Hear, hear!!!!!!!!!!!! Very well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💯 👍

BUT, I will be an unhappy cruiser if there is an outbreak among the unvaccinated and the cruise is cut short or denied a port visit.
Will you also be unhappy if there is an outbreak among the vaxx passengers (like over the last several days)?

I've been thru the HNL airport several times on trips to Australia and the South Pacific, but only visited Honolulu one time for 3 days. Have zero wish to go back. A friend of mine moved over there 30+ years ago and can't stand it there now. He was living the dream of surfing and hanging out, but now he wants to get back to Florida. Apparently, it's pretty corrupt on the Big Island and so expensive. Plus, his political outlook has changed over the decades and the whole state is pretty liberal from all the horror stories he tells me about stuff going on over there.

This new information still says vaccines are recommended.
Vaccines are expected to have full FDA approval within a few weeks.
Get it or don't.
I stand by my statement that it is ironic to be waiting for herd immunity while not be willing to do what it takes to get there.
I
The jab might finally get FDA approval in upcoming weeks, but the fact is they have NOT been approved up to this point......only for "emergency use".
And I stand by my statement that not all people can take the jab, or needs to. Like it, or not.
Happy sailing! -

A You Tube of Princess Grill and Princess Restaurant as we remember it so well.
We had a wonderful table that I remember well Table Number 110...
How wonderful! Yes, that's the row of seats I was referring to on that far wall on the right. If you stop at :26 we were seated at that big round table in the near screen on our first crossing. I don't remember the table #.

I do the same. To take medicines not in an original bottle is just asking for potential problems from some "Official" at some point during one's travels.
exactly. And it lays flat and takes up very little room.

So don't get it. We won't miss you on our cruises. Won't even give you a thought. Meow........
Dang, now you've gone ahead and ruined my night. I was SO looking for your approval. 😂

I put all my meds (in their original pill bottles) in a large zip-lock baggie. It goes in my carry-on. I've never had any problems doing it this way.

From links above:
This article is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed . It reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice.
While the study found that unvaccinated survivors of the coronavirus show lasting immunity against the virus, the Cleveland Clinic still recommends that anyone who can get the vaccine, should, telling FOX 8, “We don’t know how long the immune system will protect against reinfection or protect against variants.”
Yes, it shows NEW results! You know, the kind the pro-maskers & pro-vaxxers talk about all the time. "Science changes", that's what I've heard ever since Fauci said last year that masks should not be worn.
It should be left up to the individual about getting the jab if they have had covid, especially after these promising new results. I know I will not be getting the "FDA approved for emergency use" jab at the present time, or foreseeable future, especially not just to go on holiday. -

Britannia Restaurant. Princess had like a Pink or Reddish color decor and Britannia was in Blue. To enter the Britannia Restaurant you had to go down the winding stairs on the starboard side. I remember it since it was the last sailing we took on her.
From a old brochure of the QE2
"You may select the Princess Grill for more modern styling or the Britannia Grill for a more traditional look in dining surroundings. The menus are the same. The newer Britannia is subtly elegant."
If remember the Old Columbia Restaurant was redone under the name of Caronia and had a circular bar outside of it.
Princess
Britianna
Great pic! I have got to go find my old pictures. In the Princess Grille, there was a long banquette-type seating on an upper level. I don't know if both dining rooms had that seating, or not.

Do you remember the name of the 2 Princess Grille dining rooms? One was the Princess Grille, I think that was the port side??). The other Princess Grille on the Starboard side, I cannot remember the name of. It had a different color scheme, if I remember correctly.

At some point we will have herd immunity and hopefully mandatory vaccines won't be a condition for cruising anymore. We won't get the vaccine or wear mandatory masks or be limited to specific shore excursions. That puts us out of the cruising game for a while but that's our choice.
Ditto for my family!

Yes, but they didn’t give us that option as an answer. 😉 PS. Are those of us who have had covid not immune?
