I sailed on Nordic Prince during a July 4th Caribbean cruise.  I remember the Captain reminding the guests during his welcome aboard message over the PA that shooting off fireworks was a major "no-no" and not to do so.  Do you recall hearing any such warning?

I don't remember that specifically.   But I do still have the 4th of July menu somewhere in a box. 😂
And one of the entertainers that week was a ventriloquest named Mark Merchant.  I still have a pic of us somewhere too......he and I went out after his show a couple of the nights we were docked in downtown Hamilton.   Do you remember him?  Young guy with dark hair.

Then all you paranoid people are afraid of being around someone who has not been vaccinated.  Maybe I got Covid from you.
And then we get the CDC says you should do this or that and yet the CDC has no clue most of the time what to do because they change their mind from one minute to the next.
And the wonderful Dr. Fauci has now been proven to have lied about Covid.  And yet we are suppose to be lemmings and just follow along.
If you don't want to sail with un-vaccinated people then cancel your cruise.
I am hoping with the current regulations when we go in November there will be people cancelling because there might be people un-vaccinated on board.  More bumper car and iFly time for us.

This gets my post-of-the-day award!!!!!!  👍    One of the best replies ever!!!!!!!!!    💜💚   Totally agree

Well we are not vaccinated nor will we get vaccinated and if cruises are allowing those in the unvaccinated community I say great!  I don’t understand people who are vaccinated why they are so upset?  Your safe right, your vaccinated.  I don’t mind being tested during my cruise.  But I’ve been out and about and everything is fine.  Except for the mask 😷

    👍  ditto!

We stayed in this cabin about 5 years ago. I don't remember hearing chair noise, but I do remember that at night we could hear the very loud music playing in the centrum and vibrations from the outdoor movie screen.  Our comments to the hotel director were blown off, saying "they" wanted it that loud. I don't remember who "they" were, but maybe they've changed their policy since then.

Do you remember what time they stop the movies at night?

Has anyone here stayed in this cabin?  Is there noise from the above pool deck, like scraping/moving chairs?  Or can you hear the sound from the movie screen by the pool?
    Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks!  I am concerned about the noise level from the above pool deck.   My husband likes to take an afternoon nap everyday and I know the moving of chairs on the above pool deck would be bothersome.  I was also wondering about the sound from the movie screen late at night.  We generally get a cabin on a lower deck so we are not right under a public area for the noise issue.
We actually booked a balcony cabin on Deck 7, but got an email for an upgrade to a jr suite yesterday.
Not really sure we should bid on it.

  6. Thanks to all for the memories, I was a waiter on the SOA for most of 88 I also worked on the SV and NP. More than one has mentioned RCL as the Cadillac of cursing, I can tell you that the staff were every proud of our ships, we regarded ourselves and the best at what we did. The passengers we served were polite and many became friends, working the 14 day cruises on the SV you felt a sense of loss each time the passenger left the ship in Miami. With over 600 cruises under my belt I have often been asked why I have never sailed since and to be honest it is for the same reason, I want to remember as it was.

I know the passengers were quite different back then. You never saw the passengers back then do the things I've seen on a ship for the past 3-4 years. Some passengers are so rude these days! I don't know how the crew puts up with their rudeness.

Too bad things have changed like they have and now RCCL is only one of the many mass-market lines. What a shame.

  7. Remember theme nights? Western, tropical, 50's/60's. We'd find out ahead what type of theme nights there would be and pack accordingly.

Yes, I remember. And I remember the dining room was decorated for the theme nights, too. the waitstaff would have on different outfits for each theme night. It was so much fun!

  8. The cabins are exactly the same as any other cabin, but the balcony is generally deeper than the ones on the side. But, There's very little wind back there, so in hot climates, it can be uncomfortable during the day.

We like something midships--easy to get to stairs and elevators without a long, long walk!

I agree. I think it's a personal preference. I know the aft cabins are very popular with a lot of cruisers.

But, I prefer a mid-ship cabin.......I wouldn't want to only be able to see where I've been. Plus, I like to watch us sail into port each day and the mid-ship cabins are great for that! :)

  9. Our first cruise was on SOA in October 1987 - Western Caribbean - truly loved it.

Nordic Prince was regular visitor to Bermuda in 1980's and used to leave on Sunday afternoons. We used to follow the ship out of harbour in our boat (20' open launch motor boat), riding on its waves, waving to passengers. Several other boats did the same. Those old days!

I sailed on the Nordic Prince to Bermuda back in 85. It was so much fun! I met one of the waiters (from Paris), and we had a shipboard romance for 5 days! :D We kept in touch after the cruise and I flew over to Paris to visit him on his next vacation, and then he visited me a few months later!!!!! Ooh, la-la!

  10. I loved the aft lounge. Was it called the South Pacific lounge?

I have also been a pax who attended every event to earn Ship Shape dollars.

I wouldn' relish being in one of those tiny cabins again. Remember the half decks, and going up and down steps on the Promenade deck?

    Good times!

I do remember those steps on the Promenade Deck. And I believe that lounge was the South Pacific. My mother was always up early & ate b'fast in the dining room and then raced to the Ship Shape Dollar morning stretch out on the sports deck. She would always have enough for a t-shirt and still has a few of those bright yellow Ship-Shape T-shirts.
