But, on the other hand, since the majority of Azamara's guests currency is not USD, it may not be a good thing. If the US currency is worth more against other currencies at the time of payment when compared to the rate of exchange at the time of booking, most passengers will be paying more. Or, of course, the converse could be true if USD weakens.

The use of this word as a verb is new to me, and I cannot find a definition that enlightens me as to what you mean in this context. I'd be very grateful if you could explain.

Please see post #1763 in this topic (and a few subsequent posts) where this is discussed.

Not unique. I am in a similar situation.

    Possibly. Unfortunately, I don't recall.

On the basis of what I wrote in post #1764, unless the bookings were made when the rate was the same, it is possible that OBC quoted in Canadian Dollars will have a different USD value. But as I said, I may be completely, utterly, hopelessly wrong. Plus, for some bizarre reason, I feel that the 'fixed' rate applies to other purchases. On our most recent cruise, because the Indulgence Package was very good value (IMHO) for a 21-day cruise, I was pleasantly surprised at how (comparatively) inexpensive it was when I paid in GBP. As I recall, the rate that was applied was much, much better than the mid-market rate on the day on which I purchased the package. As an UK ex-pat, exchange rates are important to me. I am painfully aware of fluctuations.

I may be completely wrong about this (please don't shout at me if I am, I'm only trying to help), but I believe that the rate of exchange used for your booking is the rate at the time of the booking. Whether that is the date of confirmation, or the date on which you paid, I would not know. That rate is applied for the conversion from your currency to USD dollars. So - assuming I am correct - say the exchange rate at the time of booking in your currency (say, Slabovian Dinars i.e. SLD) was 1SLD equals 2USD, for the purchase of goods or services (when using your OBC) quoted in SLD, you will get 2USD for every 1SLD. Whether this fixed rate also applies to purchases not using OBC, I am unsure. Furthermore, if I'm correct, I do not know what rate (mid-market, that used by their Credit Card processor, etc.) they might be using.

If you don't need the strawberries & champagne, I'll gladly accept them on your behalf! It's the very least I can do to help.
  9. I am not sure that your assumption is correct. 80% full could refer to numbers (in fact the cruise to which you refer was just under 82% full) rather than cabins occupied. For some officers, the number of guests is, I would argue, more important than the number of cabins available. But, I suppose, either interpretation is equally valid. On our latest cruise (an expensive 21-day repositioning), the ship (numbers and cabins) was nearly full. On our previous cruise, there were far more solo travellers. Now, if the cabins were all occupied, it could be said that the ship was full. But, as one moved around the ship, went to restaurants, events, etc. it was obvious that the ship was not full.
  10. But that is what a TA does. They can check availability! I suggest that you define your criteria and let a TA find solutions!

I'd be interested to learn why you say this. Have you liaised with land-based staff direct? My view is that staff (irrespective of their location) have access to the same 'clean' system with a database-driven interface, but the problems lie with the integration of the web interface.
  12. Good point! Oops!
  13. I agree with you. Many years ago I worked in a managerial role for a hotel in a (then) small hotel chain. Our threshold for profitability was an average 70% occupancy. I also wonder why one would track prices after the full amount had been paid?
  14. Not an Azamara employee.
  15. Sorry. Too late, but thanks for the 'This is good'. Once posted, the questions/responses in the poll cannot be changed. I started posting a draft, but it was taking a long time, and the feedback was likely to trickle in, and, perhaps make the whole thing too cumbersome. So, I just 'went for it'. I did think about the Azamara/Seaware, but at the time I found that I wasn't able to structure a question that was 'simple' enough.
  16. With apologies I regret that my first attempt at a poll on this topic failed due to my lack of understanding of how the poll works. I have re-worked the poll in an effort to ensure that all questions can be answered. If you have already responded, please be so kind as to give this one a try, as the first version will be deleted!!
  17. I can only report what I was told on Journey in March. Of course, the staff on other ships may be less co-operative.

Wow! Another photo of a calm sea. I can see the Adriatic from where I live, and yes it's a millpond at present.

I'd never have thought of taking a photo of a flat sea! Who, or what, is 'GR', please? Of course, if you are not cruising for a while and you want to use the OBC (which you cannot see) for excursions etc. it may be too late (or not advisable) to wait until you are on board to get this corrected!
  20. Whilst on board in March I asked exactly this question of both of the cruise sales personnel, separately. I was told (by both sales agents) that, since I would be on the 'qualifying' cruise and would accumulate sufficient additional points during the cruise to pass the threshold, I would be able to book a future cruise during the 'qualifying' cruise and benefit from all the benefits (extra discount, free nights plus the benefits applicable for booking on-board). I was told that it would not be necessary to wait until I had disembarked the qualifying cruise.

Ms Cabezas posted the following in an email on (or about) 05 June: "We have made great progress in ensuring errors that occurred as we transferred bookings to the new system are eliminated. We expect any remaining stragglers to be fixed within the next 10 business days." As a matter of interest I wonder how many of you can see all your cruises; your loyalty points, OBC, and excursions. Are they 100% correct? Host Jazzbeau: is it possible to create a 'Poll' or similar withing the framework of CC? A poll might give us all a clearer idea of the 'progress' or lack thereof.
