  1. This is the best answer. You can walk through unescorted that afternoon.
  2. So, cost of cruise went up by $365 and OBC went down by $200. You did not say how the $365 price difference was resolved. Did Princess admit your original price should be honored? You were short $200 in OBC and the $100 stockholder credit that was now applied still makes you short $100 OBC. Has that been resolved?
  3. It ios rare (and mostly on laska itineraries) to find wild salmon on a cruise ship. With the quantities that cruise ships order, only contracts for farmed salmon can have the assurance the supply needed will be available.
  4. They may have less sugar, but they are still loaded with calories and should not be considered a healthy choice for that reason.
  5. It is now listed as a banana split and is smaller than the volcano was.
  6. So if people are getting "free" food at the International Cafe, they are not entitled to sit at the tables near the IC because they are not being charged for a product? But if you buy a beverage at the bar next to the IC, it is OK to sit at those tables.
  7. One source of confusion is when you have booked an independent excursion. If the vendor says it will start at 9:30 AM, you wonder is that 9:30 AM ship time or port time. In other words, does the vendor know what ship time will be or not? Best that local time and ship time be the same for port calls. And even if you know that ship time is an hour different from port time, you must be sure if it is an hour earlier or an hour later.
  8. Ship time may not (and usually does not) change as you enter a new time zone. Any automated updating can have your timepiece with a time different than the ship has.
  9. We booked a package that started and ended in Rio. It included airfare round trip airfare from Rio, accommodations right near the falls on the Brazil side, and the guide who provided transportation from airport to hotel, tour of Brazil side, tour of Argentina side and transportation from hotel to airport. Company we used to book this was in Florida and no longer exists.
  10. Pre-cruise you cannot use OBC for anything other than to pay for shore excursions.
  11. We have taken three cruisetours with Princess in three different parts of the world (Africa, Alaska and South America) and felt we had fair pricing for what was an excellent experience on all three. Excellent accommodations and travel arrangements along with knowledgeable and helpful tour guides contributed to having experiences that would have been very difficult to arrange on our own. This is not to say that we do not arrange our own equivalents of what Princess offers for the tour part of a cruisetour. For example, we arranged with three others a private 5 day pre-cruise tour to Machu Picchu for a cost that was far less than a larger group Princess tour would have cost. Our tour included two visits to the site, one afternoon and then again the next morning. We also did a three day tour by ourselves with a private local guide to Iguassu Falls (both Brazil and Argentina sides) that we arranged on our own before a Princess cruise from Rio.
  12. No, as that was not a loophole. It was OBC to use anyway you want, but under the guise of a sales promotion that said shore excursions to entice people to book a cruise.
  13. There is no obvious reason that Princess could not have made the appropriate refund by now for both people that have posted having this problem. o Princess knows what the portion of the Princess cruisetour price was for cruise and what part was for tour. o Princess knows the customer did not cancel the tour, Princess (via their contractor) cancelled it. There might be issues concerning other costs the customer had due to the cancellation: o When the post-cruise tour was cancelled, what expenses, if any, did the customer have with regards to any need to change flights for returning home? What about lodging and meals until the customer could fly home? o With regards to the pre-cruise tour that was cancelled once the customer had already arrived for the tour, what about lodging and meals for the days until the cruise started as well as travel costs to the port if the arrival city was different? Maybe those issues are holding up everything, but if that is the case then Princess, either directly or though travel agents, should let the customers know what is happening.
  14. That is what the Princess web site has said for many years. But the way Princess onboard computer systems have worked for many years is not to differentiate the source of a charge when OBC is applied to pay for a charge.
  15. Paying for a cruisetour is just like paying for a cruise that does not include a pre- or post-cruise Princess sponsored tour. Although the problem here is with cruisetouirs that involve Machu Picchu, the whole process is just the same as if purchasing an Alaska cruisetour
  16. The key, as you indicate, is knowing today what the option you did not purchase cost at the time the cruisetour was booked. I have seen with a booked cruisetour that when the cabin category for the cruse only option was decreased, the cruisetour price did not change. So even looking at future cruisetour offerings, the pricing difference between cruise only and cruisetour may be quite different than in the past when the OP make their booking.
  17. Two possible reasons: o Want to get to Sanctuary as fast as possible to book time there. o Want to eat embarkation lunch in the dining room before it closes to new entry at 1:30 PM.
  18. The correct answer is that beverages up to $15 are included at no extra cost. The problem is that, apparently, some ships are not doing this correctly.
  19. To be certain: This was a cruisetour with the Machu Picchu visit being after the cruise itself ended. Correct? Was yours also a cruisetour with the visit to Machu Picchu being before the cruise starts or after it ends? Or was this a mid-cruise visit during which you leave the ship for 2-3 days to visit Machu Picchu and then resume the cruise? If a mid-cruise tour, it is essentially a shore excursion and should have been refunded while on the cruise. Likely as refundable OBC to the onboard account with a check to be mailed to you after the cruise if the OBC had not been used up. If a pre-cruise or post-cruise tour, the cost of the cancelled in your original booking might be hard for you to figure out since it was bundled into the overall fare. I would continue to pester Princess to find out when a refund check would be coming to you and for what amount. It has been long enough since the cruise tyhat Princess should have the answers already.
  20. The way it has been working is that if you add money to the casino account from your shipboard account, the shipboard account system is what will first apply any charges (which the casino $$$) would be to non-refundable OBC if any exists and then to refundable OBC. So it seems to me the changes would need to be made to the software that processes the main on board accounts, not to software associated with a casino system.
  21. I assume your brother-in-law never uses a cell phone on land since that is tracked more than he would ever be tracked on a cruise ship.
  22. No, it will not be on either of these. The only information on both of these is an ID number which is linked by reading devices to the ship's computers which have the photo and all of the other passenger information on it.
  23. But when a ship has to stop at a Mexican port on the way there or back, the San Francisco ship has to travel more distance than the L.A. ship.
