  1. It allows Princess to make such claims as "over $950 value on a 7-day cruise when you buy Princess Plus" when booking a cruise. Of couse that "value" also incluces Internet and gratuities.
  2. Although ship personnel have the ability to make the Medallions, I doubt they make the ones that are picked up at check-in on embarkation day except maybe those for last minute bookings. I think all the ones ordered over the Internet, both standard and customized, are made elsewhere (probably China ?). The ones that are not shipped to homes are shipped to the appropriate ports. After you customize your options on the Internet, it asks if you want to pick it up at the port or shipped to your home. Thus the custom options are available for the ones picked up at the port.
  3. No time for a tour when the train leaves at 9:15 AM.
  4. That's one difference between Princess and Carnival. On Carnival, most on the pool deck do look good without a shirt on.
  5. My impression was she wanted to purchase one, but was unwilling to wait on that line long enough to get it.
  6. But it will not be in your cabin when you arive. There will be a note acknowledging the order with instruction to call room service to get it delivered. That way Princess is sure it is being delivered to an adult.
  7. Doesn't matter. At that time most people are either at dinner, preparing for dinner, or at a scheduled event.
  8. You will probably receive a form to fill out during the cruise. USe this form to request self-disembarkation. If you are not assigned the first scheduled self-disembarkation time, go to the Passengers Services Desk to request what you need.
  9. If offered for your cruise, yes. Yes, except for information about the cost of the cruise itself and payments for it.
  10. As long as Princess provides at no charge Bluetooth enabled earbuds or headphones to passengers who not have such devices.
  11. $17.63 would be $14.95 + 18% gratuity.
  12. First, thanks for your thorough report of your experiences on this cruise. If you HOHO tour was not as advertised, I hope you reported that to the shore excursion desk and ask for at least a partial refund. Picking a tour vendor at/near the pier is always hit-or-miss as far as getting the great experience you had. Can you post the name of your guide so others can look for that person? I would have asked the cabin steward to clean that glass or arrange for having it done. Very few people have had any trouble with using the Medallion. Many people have had a problem using the Medallion App on a smart phone. The Medallion works very well for signing onto/off of the ship, charging items in shops and at bars, and for unlocking your cabin door. None of these involve using the app.
  13. Check the pricing for your flights with Princess EZAir. Usually excellent pricing on international flights.
  14. I like where she essentially said "Two a day? One in a lifetime is more than enough."
  15. You can also call Princess and select the options to get to someone who will take your order for the Medallion over the phone without needing to use the app. You should order the Medallion via phone or app to be "ocean ready."
  16. You are not alone with this. There have been other posts saying the same thing.
  17. Not a complicated thing for the basic usage you always had in the past with a cruise card: o Scanned when you leave or return to the ship o Used to make purchases in ship;s boutiques, bars, photo dept, etc. o Used to unlock you cabin door (usually from several feet away as you approach your cabin) What can be complicated is using the Princess App for the Medallion, but there is no requirement that you need to use the app either pre-cruise or while on the cruise. If you choose to use it, you may find several of its capabilities useful.
  18. No cash. Just use the Medallion to purchase.
  19. Instead of having three dining rooms which are about the same size, the two center dining rooms on other ships have been divided into four dining rooms on this ship. Thus the aft dining room is the only "full size" one and can handle a larger number of passengers for those two meals.
  20. Usually being able to pick a check-in time is about 30 days before the cruise. Might be earlier or later. However except for a few ports outside the USA, nobody asks what time you had scheduled and you can check in anytime once check-in has started. The Medallions usually are received one to two weeks before embarkation.
  21. There have not been any laundry deals for a while.
  22. I assume it is still available on the Royal class ships.
  23. You can still get ice cream at dinner, but only chocolate and vanilla flavors. Of course lunch in the MDR is only on sea days and embarkation day, so usually for less than half of a cruise can you get flavors other than chocolate and vanilla. By the way, the Ruby Princess, which had gelato available for purchase pre-pandemic at the International Cafe, no longer has that. Do the Crown and Emerald still have gelato at the IC?
  24. Maybe the person who wrote the following that you see when you go to that link needs to view the video. "MedallionNet® lets you stay connected at sea like never before. Take a look at how this technology works and what you can expect on your upcoming cruise. MedallionNet delivers wi-fi wherever you are. We offer the fastest wifi on the high seas making it easier for you to stream movies, stay connected on social media and even text with friends and family on board with you! Our internet is fast and affordable and can be pre-purchased before you even step on board!" Actually, the video says Internet service is available everywhere Princess sails and connectivity is there unless in some latitudes nearer the poles physical land features block the signal to/from the Satellites. And yes, it says speed may be lower closer to the poles. But that is not reality as many posters have said Internet was often poor and often non-existant in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and Trans-Atlantic areas far from the poles.
