  1. I agree that may be too many people for that ship. Once you go into lack of towels, salty food, and slamming doors, the level of sympathy you get may decline.
  2. Towards the restart after the pandemic, it appeared as if there were lots of offers to get people sailing again. Today, it seems like a lot of the offers are geared towards gamblers. I tell ya, some gamblers live quite the exciting life They "barely play at all," win big often, and are given discounted cruises and drinks for no reason.
  3. I see where you are going with this. If the goal is to "save" $20 by having someone clean my underwear, I don't know that this is a runaway deal. My suitcase fits my snorkel gear, wine, multiple pairs of shoes, sunscreen, etc. I don't need to rent inferior equipment or pay exorbitant costs for those things. On my last trip, I brought back 2 alcohol bottles that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise do. I've gone on short trips before where we combine suitcases. I'm a very frugal traveler. My luggage scenario varies on the trip. With that said, flying without what I need, isn't high on my list.
  4. For everyone in the same cabin. Not anybody that everyone claims to know.
  5. I agree that the penalty needs to be steep. We are too soft on people, and it leads to the degradation of society. While the "well trained" sounds nice on paper and the internet, it's just a rabbit hole to constantly demonize authority figures. Even the most well-trained PhDs aren't ready for every mental issue out there. This is coming
  6. I always love the two competing ideals, from the same people: - Cruise lines should just pay their employees more - I shouldn't have to pay people I never see They should all be paid from the virtuous charity of high salary
  7. The voyager has the egg, and it is delicious. The brunch burger did not. I told my other half that the names should be swapped. She was not interested in that conversation.
  8. People are naturally going to choose the ones that are harder to get to. It makes each visit special and limits the undesirables. It's tough to pick one. The Caribbean offers so much beauty, depending what chance you give it. What I will tell you is a southern caribbean itinerary is a must.
  9. What do you expect cruising to look like in 10 years? What are the plans to keep the smaller ships relevant? Will ships become more remote workforce friendly? What can you do to please get everyone to stop talking about tips 24/7?
  10. This post nailed it. I have yet to every have housekeeping deny any request. If I say give me extra towels and ice, they will do it. There is no need for them to do it two times per day. I don't know who is destroying their room that many times. Now it's going to be taken out on the housekeeping team (no matter how many times you say you aren't, by reducing your tips, you are) because of a FOMO.
  11. I'm curious as to what is always the big fear about traveling with luggage. People act like they are committing to having it strapped to their back for the entire trip. I don't think I have my (wheeled) suitcase in my possession for more than an hour for the entire trip. I'm not paying $36 to wash a few socks and undies.
  12. The more people play detective for something that doesn't really matter, the more I realize why companies don't publish all of their back-end policies. There is no benefit in letting keyboard warriors decide if they agree with the policy. Clearly, there are workers that this pay system is benefitting.
  13. Maybe not "new," but I'd like to see more "bar crawls." There is one in Cozumel, and I really want to do it. It combines a tour, with going to a bunch of cool bars. Getting your own transportation for a bar crawl is something that is tough to do on your own.
  14. It's not like our media/public perceptions are ever shaped around 1 or 2 incidents vs logic and data.
  15. I haven't sailed either, but close enough with Panorama and Celebration. The Excel class is an improvement in nearly every way.
  16. I was quite shocked how much my ship was sold out a few months before sailing.
  17. Is this really happening that often, or do we love to rehash the news of the actions of 1 person per every 25,000? I've been on double-digit Carnival cruises, and can't say it's definitely worse than anywhere else.
  18. It's amazing the amount of people that won't let go the Andes mints on your pillow. Was this really that ground-breaking of an event, or are you feeling nostalgic? It's also equally amazing that people complain about tablecloths, food, etc, but won't choose a different line that has all of these things. Instead, they stick around and complain. The "little touches" must not be that important if you won't go to them. That's not to say there haven't been any negative changes. I think the elimination of the snacks at night is very silly. A few others as well. It's ingenious to ignore the positives. If we swapped cruising today for cruising 30 years ago, it would not have the following it has today.
  19. While this is the model many of us (say we) want, there is little incentive for the cruise lines to do such a thing. First off, people are absolutely horrible with price perception. Rolling up everything into the fare suddenly has people questioning spending the same amount of money. There's also the tax implications. The gratuities are likely also designed in mind that some people just won't pay. It's built in. Because whatever the "I like it so what do you care" thing it is: mints on a pillow, midnight swan buffet, tablecloths, room service breakfast, twice a day cleaning, all goods and labor cost money. No matter how much the internet thinks everything is free. The majority of cruisers have basically decided that these things aren't important/don't want to pay for them. Good for you that you like these things. Fortunately for you, you can choose to go on a line that offers these. Chances are, you really don't want to pay for it. You want everyone else to, who could care less about it. That's why people might care that you think it's neat to get a room cleaned twice or seventeen times a day. Bonus points, in no other scenario anywhere is your room serviced twice per day. That's why some think it's even more ridiculous.
  20. You might survive if you realize how 1 liter of Jack isn't any cheaper at the bar.
  21. This is the outcome of the constant "everyone is allowed to have their own opinion." Please, do not under any circumstance, touch your auto-gratuities. These people work hard, and there is a system that has already been thought out. Far more than your Google search with whatever idea you got in your head. If you think someone deserves more, then give them more. I'll be honest though, I rarely give more. I sleep quite well at night leaving my gratuities as-is and not being a jerk to them/requiring extra work.
  22. On my Celebration cruise last month, I have never, ever seen such a consistently busy casino.
  23. I could be reaching here. However, I could absolutely see someone have a concern that you are traveling internationally with a young child with paperwork that does not match. I wouldn't wing it based on a few internet people thinking it's ridiculous that check in agents would care if identification matches.
