  1. This entire menu (and maybe even Guy's) should have been available for room service for the service fee. IMO, that would have been a more acceptable outcome than what actually happened.
  2. I don't think Carnival has yet etched in stone to advertise "free dining options." However, they appear to have continued to do it without an end date. Probably some sort of test to see how they can handle Excel dining flow, ticket price, value perception, etc. I love to see it. Solves a lot of complaints about dinner menus getting stale. I heard that you have to do anytime dining to be able to get your preferred time at these venues (or more specifically, early). Is that the case? I'm torn what to do. I'd like to try some of these, but in all honesty, we really enjoy early dining in the MDR.
  3. In your opinion, what's the best cruise itinerary to Philly?
  4. On my last few trips to the deli, I have noticed that they were "pre-assembled". Which means they assemble the ingredients together to balance labor during slow times and rushes. I even watched another worker make them. I think many people equate this to a prepackaged gas station sandwich. While equating "fresh" with hand-carved meats and freshly baked bread out of the oven. The difference is you are just watching them do the same thing they may have done a half hour ago. If you don't like an ingredient (like disgusting horseradish), they can make you one without.
  5. Nooooo, not the pastrami. I'll miss that. However, I am still glad to see the buffalo chicken, meatball, and cuban. Steak and cheese sounds great (minus that vile horseradish). I'll have to get a BLT since it's all the rage.
  6. In general, when we inquire "why is or isn't something this way" in business, it is often due to money. Sure there can always be other factors like regulation in the way. If the size of the prize is good enough, corporations and even entire industries may lobby. In this case, as cheng pointed out, it doesn't seem feasible.
  7. I'd also be careful with this. I don't believe you will be fully reimbursed for a trip because you lost your ID. Many have "qualifying events," and CFAR insurance isn't getting your full amount returned. Let's say even if insurance covers you, do you really want to miss out on your vacation?
  8. Thanks for the clarification. Jamaica, Honduras, Belize, St Vincent, St Kitts, Tobago, and the Bahamas are still all cruise destinations with higher murder rates than Mexico in 2022.
  9. I think the lesson here is to have two forms of ID. When you travel without an ID, the consequences can be catastrophic. I always have two forms of ID when I travel, and I don't keep them in the same place in case one gets lost.
  10. For some, it's not that big of a hassle to avoid paying 10x the cost. I put mine in my suitcase.
  11. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/murder-rate-by-country Murder rate by country per 100k people Top 10 Countries with the Highest Murder Rates (per 100k people) in 2017:* El Salvador (61.7) Honduras (41.0) Venezuela (49.9) United States Virgin Islands (49.3 [2012 data]) Jamaica (56.4) Lesotho (43.6 [[2016 data]] per 100k people) Belize (37.8) Saint Vincent And The Grenadines (36.5 [2016 data]) Saint Kitts And Nevis (36.1 [2012 data]) South Africa (35.7) Mexico doesn't even crack the top 10. Larger countries have larger numbers of murders. News at 11. I've cruised to Jamaica and that place is far worse. Honduras is a terrible place, but a cruising destination. It is far different going to the private port and in the poor city. Just doing the lord's work.
  12. You have completely missed the point of the Baltimore comparison. In 2021, Cancun had as many murders as Baltimore. Throwing out travel advisories while "I avoid the bad parts of Baltimore and don't vacation there" is some sort of special, different, circumstance. The point remains that crime is all over. If you aren't messing around with drugs or dangerous neighborhoods, you'll likely be just fine. A resort strip near the beach is generally a safe spot. There is also much context to "scary place bad" or "American dead" that we don't get. While we should still exercise caution, it is worth looking objectively vs fear. I did the Panorama cruise last year. I would absolutely do it again.
  13. I'm convinced the reason I don't gain a bunch of wait on cruises is because of all of the walking I do on the ship, in port, and stairs. Sometimes it's a struggle, but it's a good thing. My biggest gripe about Carnival is not scaling common areas to the size of the ship. Not only does Mardi Gras have more people, but more floors. So people immediately blame what is new "how the new elevators operate" instead of the real problem. It's not any better when lazy people use it to travel 1-2 floors, who probably should be on the stairs.
  14. Kind of strange they would do it at 6-7pm. For the whole "staffing issue" explanation, I don't believe that makes sense. Having deck parties would be more difficult with low staff. Showing a movie requires little to no staff to entertain people.
