  1. That is so exciting. Our guide said they now have works from all over the world that come to work for the summer season. They have boarding houses to make it affordable. When in College I worked a summer on Lake Michigan on a resort near Muskegon. Loved it.
  2. It was our first visit and was really pleased with the tour. Excellent Guide and Historian.
  3. It was Chocolate on Chocolate with a little round Chocolate with Ponant printed in Gold. Edible and very decadent.
  4. I'm surprised that it is going so well. It may be we only have 180 pax sharing that bandwidth.
  5. Last night was the first Gala Night. Was nice to see every one dressed up for the evening. I am posting the food photographs on the Ponant thread - Link in signature The highlights were the foie Gras and the Filet and Lobster were beyond belief. New England Lobster and steak so tender no knife required
  6. Fantastic dinner. We gave it a 10 in rating. The Foai Gras was beyond delicious. Steak tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. The lobster was New England cold water and very sweet and tender. we skipped the Beet Amuse Bouche many know I hate beets.
  7. Last night was the first Gala Night. We we in our normal Tux Shirt, Bow Tie and dinner jacket. I taxing the internet a bit. The clip is 45 megs. IMG_6793.mov
  8. Mackinac Island is a gem. Took a tour of the Grand an Champagne Tea
  9. It was delicious. Kinda like our go to Scotch Comfort food - Mince and Tatties. I find Ponant serves the perfect portion size for us.
  10. I kinda liked that one. I shot another a couple inches to the right and it just didn't have the same feel.
  11. That's strange. Wonder if they had something going on. They have a permanent ticket desk setup at the front door with two agents selling tickets and handing out brochures.
  12. You sound like you love it. It is a beautiful Island and a very pleasant port. The nice thing is that this is late in the season and it was not over crowded. Trees are just starting to show some color.
  13. I believe that was the classic wasn't that. This is the only wifi on the ship and there are no upgrades. To be honest it seem to be working ok for us. Last night we were able to stream Jeopardy on the Firestick.
  14. It was a bit cold this morning so had lunch at the main dining room. Iain had a chicken salad and I had PARMENTIER - Braised beef with potatoes and cheese The have a self serve area for salads, antipastos, cheese and deserts
  15. Our guide took us for a tour and the history of the Grand. We next met and had a discussion with the Hotels historian. He of course was very entertains and enlightenIng. Next we had a Champagne Tea.
  16. Ok. To dispel the rumors that you can’t go into The Grand without staying there.
  17. We chose to do the tour of The Grand Hotel. It was a nice tour of only 12. We had a nice leisurely walk through town. There are no cars allowed on the island so horse, bike or carriage are your choices.
