  1. Recently on Serenade they alllowed us to use our's once in Chops on the second night and in Giovanni's on the fourth night. I was told that they were allowing you to use thru out the week, when I went to book once on board. There was a passenger in front of me booking also and he was told the same thing. They gave no specifc reason why.

We paid on the night we were there.

Maybe too many D-plus on board, not sure.

  2. We once did a day trip into France from Barcelona - we rented a car in Barcelona and drove to Carcassonne France. It is a beautiful walled castle and you can stay overnight if you like and drive back to Barcelona to fly home. My Mom wanted to go into France and so that is what we did. It was a long day as we did not stay overnight, but we love car trips and enjoyed the adventure. I am sure Youtube has all kinds of videos of it.

If you decide that you would like to visit Paris (which we did with Mom in October), you can easily get a flight on a local airline (we used Easy Jet), fly into Paris for a few days, and fly home from there.

Whatever you decide, you will have a wonderful time:)

Thank you! My parents had already booked the flights home before we talked about France. So we are probably renting a car and driving ourselves just into France, probably Perpignan. Just to get a taste of France. Next cruise we can go into France.

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

  3. The ship shows 7:00 a.m. docking time in New Orleans. Would it be possible to make a 9:50 a.m. flight?

When we sailed on the 1/25 sailing, as previous posters stated we were delayed coming into port by 3 1/2 hours. We were issued disembark tag 1 with a 7:45 meeting time. We did not get off the ship till 11:30. Luckily we live just outside NOLA.

So the point I am trying to make is, depending on your tag # you may want to rethink an early flight. There is no guarantee you will get off the ship at the designated time stated.

Also, the traffic on I-10 gets backed up due to construction going on right now, so keep this in mind. It could take up to 35-40 minutes to get to the airport. It takes about 25-30 on a good traffic day.

  4. My parents and I are taking the Serende TA in April and will be disembarking in Barcelona. They want to travel into France once we disembark.

Has anyone here done that, if so what city, and what transportation to get there did you use? We are thinking 2 nights somewhere in France and then return to Barcelona and fly home.

I would really appreciate the help, other than cruising we have never done anything like this.

  5. I have more Voyager-class OS questions if anyone is still monitoring this thread.

How much storage do you have in the bathroom? I have used an over-the-door shoe bag in balcony cabins, but I'm guessing that it won't be necessary in a suite. Am I being overly optimistic ? Not needed. tons of storage. 2 behind the mirror shevling, 3 drawer and 2 door cabinets under double sink.

How many electrical outlets are there? 2 on vanity area

Does the room come with refrigerator?

And I read on the website that there is a VCR. Has that been replaced with a DVD player yet?

If these questions have been answered elsewhere, I apologize for asking, but I have not been able to find it.

The OS has tons of storage.

  6. I live just outside of New Orleans and it is pretty cold here. We are having more cold weather this year than we have ever had. Normally our days have highs in the 60's, this Friday we aren't getting out of the 40's. We are having a freeze tonight and Friday night.

I would definitely bring a light sweater for nights on the ship, it will get chilly on deck at night too. You may want to bring something a little heavier if you are staying in NOLA pre-cruise.

Saturday morning getting on ship it will be in the 30's, warming up during the day. It will be chilly on deck as you leave New Orleans.

  7. Having sailed NCL this past September on an Alaskan Cruise, I would not consider sailing with them again other than for the itinerary.

Did not care for the food or freestyle dining. Always a wait for a table and the dining room service was horrible.

However, we had a suite and the butler service was great.

  8. We also check our table location when we board. On Voyager a couple years ago, DH and I were cruising with my Parents, Grandmother, niece and her boyfriend. First night we went to our table located just inside the doors to MDR. Nice round table for 7 people, Perfect. Second night we get to the dining room there is another couple sitting at our table. RCL decided to add 2 more chairs.

What they did was the table was originally for 8 people. I am assuming that the other couple wanted to be moved from their original seating so they squished them into ours. We could not even pull our chairs away
from the table the legs were so close together. If you did sit there was no elbow room.

It all worked out, the Matre'd found them another table.
  9. Airlines and cruiselines should have your address on file since they ask for it when booking. Therefore your name and phone number should be suffucient on your personal luggage id tags.

If the tags from the airlines with flight info or your cruise luggage tags are attached they should be able to contact you.

I just always make sure that our bags, checked or carryon have a tag with our name and phone info.

Hope the OP gets her bag back. Good Luck!

  10. On our family Med cruise, my stepmom asked the room stewart if she could get 2 pair of pants washed but not dried. He said yes. She got them back exactly as requested. She hung them in the shower to dry. These were one of those no wrinkle travel clothing type of fabrics.

When they take your laundry they put little tags on each piece with a number. I figured this out once after returning home, when something in a pair of pants kept sticking me like a pin.

  11. I'm baffled as to why some of you think they would or should do this. When you book a balcony, do the reservation agents tell you to keep the slider closed for the AC, or tell you not to throw anything overboard, or tell you not to leave clothes hanging? Of course not. These are on board policy issues. You'd be on the phone all day and wait times would be hours if agents discussed all policies with you .That's why they have a website.

Aqauhound, I'm baffled that you responded as you did, I was merely saying that the rep saw no reason to mention it even though we were talking about balconies.

    Sorry!

  12. I wonder if we could bring U.S. travel checks and cashed them on the ship and purchase Euro's ? thoughts?

It would be safer to travel with travelers checks.
