  1. Your Guest Statement will tell you exactly what date your final payment is due. The final payment due date that others have been assigned - 1 week, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years - is irrelevent.
  2. I would love to have that cabin! Not only is it a PS2 but it is on a no traffic hallway and right next to the secret door to the Explorers Lounge. If you are an early riser you can even pop out of your cabin in your robe to grab a cup of coffee from the set up on the bar and no one would notice you.
  3. I don't think there is enough room for both the coffee service and a tea kettle. We had the coffee items removed and got the tea kettle. I like the fresh made coffee in the Living Room and that is my first AM stop. We both like tea and tend to drink it in the evening before bed while watching something on the TV. Don't want to be disturbed by room service once we retire to the room. Loved how the kettle heated almost instantly.
  4. We were on the Sea December 2021. One arm of the sofa in our PV room needed some reupholstering and we noticed that the cream colored cushions for the aft outdoor furniture on deck 8 has some stains but that is IT. The crew was constantly working on something - painting forward areas of the promenade deck, revarnishing wooden railings, painting deck 8 railing sections - never ending work.
  5. For anyone who has entered their booking number into My Viking Journey, you can get your Guest Statement any time you want without calling Viking or your travel agent. Log in to your MVJ. At the very top right click on the person picture. Then click on Account. Here you have a choice to click on Profile or Request Invoice. Click on Request Invoice and it will be sent to your email address on file. You will receive a standard letter with several attachments. One will be your 5 or 6 page Guest Invoice which contains all the current details about your cruise. I suggest studying every page of this document thoroughly to be sure it is correct. The Guest Information form will be another attachment to review to be sure it is correct and complete. Other documents are the Passenger Ticket Contract, TripMate information and a list of "extras" like On Board Credit you have been given or Optional Excursions you have reserved. Many people ignore these documents and then complain about Viking not telling them something when all they had to do is read.
  6. You can probably make a case for that. A connection for you and one for Harvey your invisible roommate.
  7. Can't plug anything into the TV's that I know of. Can only use the ship's WiFi for one device at a time per person. All the TV's are the same. You may be limited to the programming on the TV which is a lot or whatever you can watch on your IPad. There are USB ports and electrical outlets on both sides of the bed and most likely some near to the seating area. We usually bring a really long cable to use our tablets while charging them.
  8. And don't forget about wine tastings (also scotch, armagnac, whiskey tastings), Baggo (sometimes passengers vs crew vs officers), indulge in spa treatment, walk the promenade deck for exercise, explore with the Viking Art Guide.
  9. And a good reminder to check your Guest Invoice to be sure you get what you thought you booked or as a perk - SSP, stateroom #, OBC, port stops, port times, dock vs tender etc. - and to periodically check it. We have had Port changes, port time changes, dock vs tender changes, a hotel change in a pre cruise extension and they appeared on our Guest Invoice before we heard about it.
  10. My recent passport renewal time was 7 weeks. I did not do expedited. Sent it in after our last cruise knowing I would need it again for next one. Booking Viking Air was not possible without a passport valid for 6 months after departure.
  11. I have Air Plus and although the recording says they are only dealing with travelers within 60 days of their cruise, I hold for an agent, tell them i have Air Plus and they talk to me.
  12. LOL. I was thinking if we are 40 or 50 years old they are trekking poles. If we are 65+ they are walking aids.
  13. On recent cruises with ships not filled to capacity, we were able to get numerous Manfredi's and Chefs Table reservations at a desirable time. On earlier full boat cruises not the case unless we wanted to eat at 8:30 or later. Manfredi's is always the same menu other then a daily pasta and fish special. The Chefs Table Menu changes every 2-3 days. The Restaurant's menu left side is available daily while the right side changes daily.
  14. On FB there are several Groups who discuss Viking River and Ocean Cruises.
  15. That's a good question. Roll Calls seem to have a life of their own. All the cruises I have taken had very active Roll Calls. The first two had a 50-60 people at the Meet & Mingle back when those were allowed. They were also fairly new and popular itineraries. Midnight Sun in it's third year running. SA & Around Cape Horn in it's first year. Both very active a year in advance. A newer itinerary may make joining a RC more popular. Perhaps. Summer of 2021 the Iceland Roll Calls we're crazy active. Again brand new itinerary and one of the first Welcome Back cruises. Our TA from Barcelona to SJ was popular well over a year out. It was one of the most multi page Roll Calls other then World Cruises. But then many people rescheduled the same cruise that was cancelled the year before and everyone was raring to go. Our Roll Call for the Amazon in February is pretty quiet. Don't know why. It's a newer Viking cruise that had one season's sailing I believe then Covid cancelled. Hoping that more people find it as we get closer. But if the RC is quiet because it's a half full ship that's fine with me. You could join some of the Viking FB groups and put out a message for people on your cruise. That might work to find people to share excursions.
  16. Through the ships WiFi we send and receive emails, use the Internet, use Google Maps, What'sApp or Messenger for communication at home or with friends on board the ship. We never do video calls as we find them annoying. We do not watch videos or download books when on board in respect of Vikings request to limit our bandwidth use so other passengers can get on line. We have a $10 per day plan with our cellular carrier IF we need to get on line, text or make a phone call when on shore if there is no WiFi available. We have never used it.
  17. You don't really need the insurance until the 120 days before the cruise. If for some reason you need to cancel before the 120 days, you will get a 100% refund anyways from Viking minus the $100 pp cancellation fee. Once you pay for the insurance there is no refund of the cost of that insurance. The cancel for any reason is nice but you will get a voucher for a future cruise not a refund. I haven't been able to think of how the pre- existing conditions coverage works. If I have high blood pressure or high cholesterol now, it still covers me if a have a heart attack on the ship. Can't figure out what medical issue would require pre-existing condition coverage. Anyone?
  18. LOL. That shows how observant I've been! I always checked to be sure we had the correct excursions but don't recall names or cabin numbers.
  19. Another possibility is to book optional excursions for your DD & SIL on your MVJ account and pay for them with your vouchers. The excursions must be different from yours and not overlap with any of your excursion times. That might be tough. The excursion tickets that are issued and will be in your stateroom do not have names or room numbers on them. Just give those to your family.
  20. Has to be used before boarding so spa treatments and shopping on board does not work.
  21. I agree. I think Viking will sell to capacity minus the 10 or 11 (?) Veranda cabins they hold for quarantine on deck 3 portside.
  22. The current Health & Safety policy states there is no daily testing but a person can request it if they feel sick or the crew can ask that you be tested if you are exhibiting symptoms. Some recent Ocean cruises have reported people being quarantined and one cruise had so many quarantined that all the Q cabins were used and additional people stayed in their own cabin. I don't know how long you get quarantined however. Perhaps someone with that experience will respond.
  23. Although our cruise is not for 7 months, the Caribbean & Amazon cruise is still going. That would be French Guiana and Brazil.
