  1. it was only bad on the second night - it was a formal one. And considering that we always sail during spring break and it's full to the brim - it's not bad. However, we do not play it by ear and make reservations for around the same time every day - when we like to eat. If you like your waiting team and the time on the first night, you can then reserve the same table for the rest of the nights. Or you can do you and play it by ears. I think I mentioned that we missed some musical performances because they interfered with dinner, but family dinners on a cruise are special to us. 🙂 The menus and the food were good by RCI standards. We were quite happy with the MDR food. thank you!!!!!
  2. Rick meant a straight up upgrade, not a bid upgrade.
  3. cool. We are on Enchanted in June, also in an inside cabin.
  4. we've stayed in a cabin on Emerald Deck above Crooners as well, but it's not a restaurant or a buffet, with the service corridor and a kitchen connected to it.
  5. I have never seen an inside-to-inside bid offers. Unless it's a different category of inside, like regular inside to Ultra Deluxe Spacious Family sized inside. But mostly it's inside to oceanview or balcony and above. which ship, which deck and where (forward, middle, aft) is your inside cabin at? We sailed many times in the inside cabin before we finally ponied up the cash for a balcony. Most of the time the price difference was significant. If it's less than $400 total for the 3 of us, we go for the balcony. It doesn't happen every time. With the bidding process you never know where your new cabin is going to end up being, so if you like the location of your current cabin, keep it. Always remember not to stay under the pool deck, above the theater, below the buffet, main dining rooms or other restaurants, or white spaces on the deck plan.
  6. yay, that's my photo!!!! Nov 2022 Enchanted Princess. 🙂
  7. we are the new ones coming aboard next month. I hope we like it because I just booked 2 more for next year, cruise unsailed (like sight unseen). But then - we don't order room service.
  8. does that turn the AC back on? they look frosted to me.
  9. because you can close the balcony door behind you, and your family members inside the cabin can still enjoy the AC, while I enjoy reading on the balcony. Same with when they are still sleeping in the morning. I slip out the balcony door, close it behind me and enjoy the alone time, while the regular curtain is still closed and the AC is still on so that DH and DS can continue sleeping in peace.
  10. I booked the deluxe porthole balcony cabin on Beyond and Ascent. I like traditional balconies and put them to good use, but we also like newer ships. This is a very good compromise for us.
  11. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2985922-bringing-soda-onboard/ it's a very frequent question on this board. Only on embarkation apparently. yes, of course.
  12. and by a brand new poster. With an interesting name for a supposedly mature adult.
  13. oh, yes, I forgot about the Solarium. Probably because we travel with a kid who is not allowed in there. Also a very lovely place with great ocean views.
  14. discussed 3 days ago.... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2989291-edge-class-balcony/

  16. X is currently running a free category upgrade promotion on short cruises, so the Veranda cabin is the same price as Oceanview. Why don't you opt for the balcony instead? It will definitely have more space. Total for a partially obstructed balcony for 3 ppl is $1,589.69 USD
  17. aaahh, the good old times....
  18. it depends on the carrier. We flew back in Nov and checked our luggage in at 11 am for a 6:30 pm Spirit flight.
  19. it would make more sense to stop by the store in Orlando and get a box much cheaper than that. when we brought the car seat onboard, we stored it in a closet. That said, our child only needed a no back booster for the taxis, which is not what your kids will need. What kind of excursions are you doing? Through the cruise? Most likely a bus. Or take a taxi somewhere to the beach? Will need a taxi. Keep in mind that many ports of call taxis may not have functioning seat belts or latch anchors. What travel seats does your family have? I highly recommend Cosco Scenera NEXT for the younger ones and something like Evenflo Chase/Maestro for the 3 yo. If the taxi seat belts do not lock, a parent should have a locking clip to use to lock the seat belts. Read the car seat manual prior to traveling and learn to use the clip prior to travel as well, so you are not fumbling with the installation. They are a couple of bucks on amazon. It's best to use the car seats on the plane to ensure their safety. Some of your questions are very Epic specific, so I hope you ask them on the NCL board. do you mean the airline check-in? If you mean a cruise check-in, you are not limited to 2 items. Just make sure to put the luggage label on the box.
  20. ah, yes, Oasis class ships aren't very well known for their ocean views due to their peculiar design. But we found the Central Park to be a wonderful spot. I also found these nice tiny "coves" outside the bbq place with the view of the ocean. Port side, aft. When the place is not open for lunch, or when it is open, but doesn't have live music, it's quiet. People do walk back and forth all the time, but when I am reading, I don't care. If I am not reading, I people and ocean watch. I found a photo of that spot online: You can see my Oasis review in my signature - it's a year old, but we had a great time.
  21. it's still very much hurricane season in the Caribbean....
  22. Central park - I found that to be a wonderful and serene location. We stay on deck 8 on Oasis class so we can cross from forward to aft through it and for easy access to the park. I usually read books there. In the evening there is usually a musician of some kind for a couple of hours, but other than that it's lovely and quiet. Even with a musician or other music playing, it's still a lovely spot. During lunch it may be difficult to find a place to sit down because a lot of people go the Park Cafe for a quick bite/lunch and sit outside as well. There is a library right off of Central park, but on that one sailing I found many teens going in and out all the time, which is distracting. They weren't there for reading - they socialized.
