  1. if you enjoy it, by all means - dress up.
  2. I was shaking my head this morning when I was dropping my kid off at school in 38F degree weather. Some kids were wearing shorts and t-shirts. Brrrrrrrr! Not mine, though. A puffer jacket and a hat. As for a cruise, I am happy if people wear any pants to MDR. I've seen some ladies wearing gorgeous dresses and even complimented some of them, but I am not going to dress up, sorry. Our family just isn't into it. Didn't we beat this already dead horse to an additional death in this thread? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2978669-realistically-how-many-will-wear-tuxedos-on-a-12-night-panama-canal-princess-cruise/
  3. thanks! I should have mentioned that we only cruise out of Ft Lauderdale. So did I, but when I clicked on all of the ones that work for us in April, June and November (school breaks), none of them had the 3/4th person free. Interestingly enough, none of the cruises had this promo indicated on them, like it does for 40% off and/or $100 deposit.
  4. what do you mean "this late in the game"? I am pricing 2025. I can't yet book 2026 because the school calendar is not out yet. I am pricing it out way farther in advance than this.
  5. as a mom who makes sure the kid is fed first, I've always "enjoyed" cold buffet food.... 😞 So, to me it makes no difference if the food started out nice and hot.
  6. it's definitely real. Looks very sad. speaking of attractions, do you see any ping pong tables, and is pickleball available on the ship? I know there should be ping pong tables, but the last video that I saw had them in the elevator bank foyer. Weird placement.
  7. I love this promotion, however, I cannot find any sailings it applies to. The T&Cs do not specify it either. I tried pricing some April, June and November 2025 cruises, but the 3rd person's fare is even higher than the first 2, so that's definitely a no-go. Help, please? Celebrity is running the same promotion now, and it's very clear when it applies, so I already placed 2 holds on their cruises. Their balcony prices for 3 people on 2 new ships are lower than inside cabin prices on Princess ships during the same time. The only advantage Princess is offering at this time is a fully refundable deposit.
  8. my kid is about to turn 13, and his favorite line by far is Princess. However, he doesn't care for the company of other kids, doesn't do kid's club, and doesn't even want to do everything RCI has to offer.
  9. oh, man, all those toppings! My DH will be so happy. He loves custom made salads with different toppings.
  10. is that gelato or ice cream, and is it free in any case? we have an inside cabin with the sofa AND a pullman bed. When I was booking, Celebrity website offered either a cabin with a sofa or a cabin with a sofa and a pullman bed - I chose the latter. DS loves Pullman beds. Other cruise lines do not give you a choice - you get a cabin for 3, and that's it.
  11. I may have missed it, but which state are you driving from? Edited to add: never mind, somewhere close it appears, since it took you very little time and it has palm trees. 🙂 My husband refuses to drive for more than 7 hours, so we always fly to and from the cruise. It doesn't help that during the pandemic our kid developed severe car sickness and can now barely make it to the airport (about 45-60 minutes away), let alone 10+ hours it would take us to drive from ATL to FLL/MIA. Or even Port Canaveral. So, now I wait for Spirit tickets to go on sale - the price usually drops significantly within 90 days of the cruise, going from $350 each way to $99-125 each way. I've just bought them for $104 pp ATL-FLL for our upcoming Reflection cruise (65 days out). And if you are flying to the cruise on Tue-Th the price drops to $27 (!!!) pp.
  12. the one time we drove from the cruise we found gas stations conveniently positioned in the middle of the highway. Like in the dividing lane, so you don't have to get off the highway, pay the toll, get back on the highway, pay the toll...
  13. but... there is no point, because Celebrity ships don't have any slides. As of right now.
  14. I actually put a cruise on hold for next spring break. This promotion brought the price down to a more reasonable level.
  15. but it's not free, so bringing a 12 pack onboard would save money, right?
  16. you had to pay for the free buffet, loungers, and pool on CocoCay? When? We were there twice in the last 2 years and it was all free.
  17. no. It's sort of worth it for $80 pp. These are available for free on the island - some good food and seating with umbrellas. Some beverages are included (like water, lemonade, iced tea). You don't need to pay for the water park to get any of these. There is a nice buffet and snack shacks, and more. We've always eaten at the Snack Shack - you can click on my reviews in the signature if you see CocoCay in the link. They have funnel cakes! For free! Yum! The island itself is so pretty. Free food on the island includes more than that. why would it be? It's an additional water park. Like an additional zipline and an air balloon ride - available for a fee. still are. Plus free loungers and umbrellas.
  18. my apologies: AquaClass EXCLUSIVE TO DOUBLE OCCUPANCY P.S. Our kid is a month away from being a teen, and he is a size of a small adult, but so far we are ok to travel in one cabin. He'll reach his full height (>6') at around 14-15, so we'll see how comfy the 3 of us will be then. Hubs is also over 6' tall.
  19. when I price a cabin for 3, Retreat is never available (on Reflection) because it says that it's limited to occupancy of 2.
  20. yes, my hubs drinks Heineken as well and we are booked in an inside cabin, but we are not paying $9+grats for it. Forget it. I thought even $7+grats was a lot for a bottle of Heineken.... We can wait till we get home to pay $14-18 for 6 bottles, with only 7% tax added to it.
  21. that's supposed to say deck 8 @sailingjudy and that should say "you MAY be able to safely cancel"
  22. no. My parents (73 and 75) really enjoyed Seascape. But they enjoy any cruising. We are in our late 40s and liked the ship, but not so much the MSC product in general. I feel that after Celebrity you will like MSC only if you are in Yacht Club or at least Aura. That's just my imho. We traveled in steerage class (not Aura), and we feel that in general MSC offers less in steerage class than other cruise lines. But, apparently, their YC shines. yes! this! 100%. In the dailies it would say something like: live music, contortionists, acrobats, Sweet and Sour circus, magician 7-10 pm in Le Cabaret Rouge. You have no way of knowing when to show up to see the circus or the acrobats. We showed up several times just to see something we didn't care for. yes, the price point of Bella or Fantastica is better than the equivalent inside or balcony cabin on a Celebrity ship, but you also get a lot less for it. It's like you get a crowded Walmart for the price instead of Whole Foods. I personally shop at Walmart at home for the price point, but I don't get the Whole Foods experience for it. So, if one is only looking at the price - MSC wins.
  23. you should have booked the rate which included the Easy Plus drink package and wifi. Since you booked fantastica, you can safely cancel it and rebook the fare with the package/wifi included in it (not free, of course) if the difference in price suits you. This is usually a much better value than buying a drink package and wifi package separately. When we booked the Seascape in 2022 for 2023 sailing, the difference in price between a no-frills fare and fare with Easy+ and wifi was $90 pp. Now it is around $300 pp, depending on the sailing. If $300 pp is worth it to you for an alcohol/mocktails/bottled water/fancy coffee package and wifi, go for it. If you click on my Seascape review link in my signature, you can see the current menus and dailies. I have no doubt they will change by Nov 2026. During the day many bars in the middle of the ship are closed - they are empty, provide nice seating and lovely views of the water. Also, Loft Cafe Essiesmom mentioned was quite nice and quiet as well. I found Le Cabaret Rouge to be a rather dark venue, so - for me personally it wasn't a nice spot for reading. We were on deck 10 fowardand under our balconies (deck 😎 there were a lot of loungers and barely any people. You can exit through the Loft Cafe, which also has outside seating (but it was a smoking section). you can see all the package and add-on prices if you log in on msc website to manage your booking. Other than that, please do a search with the word Seascape on this forum and you will see all the threads about Seascape. That should provide you with plethora of information.
