At any rate Captain Srecko is well liked by the guests.
Thank you Twangster for another awesome review. Anthem is our favourite ship!
We were on the same cruise in 2018 to Miami you referenced earlier. As you were aware, Captain Srecko was also on that cruise and he was just fantastic. We spoke with him a couple of times around the ship and he was great with my kids who remember seeing him as Captain on Quantum during the Mighty Ships episode.

When we were on Anthem, our cabin attendant made up the sofa bed with separate sheets almost like two separate beds. The sofa bed, when made up was same level across, not like Ken’s photo above. If they can do it like that, that would be even better. Just speak with your cabin attendant.

So Oasis does offer the WOW bands??
Yes, since being AMP'd.

My point is that the current videos and pictures from the live blogs are not indicative of the actual experience we will get when we are actually in the solarium.
I personally will never know as I can't get there early enough to compete with all the blue towels that enjoy sunning themselves without a human to block the sun.😉

Looks like @ about 6 pm central time she left the dry dock and started sea trials.
That is a great sign for all those sailing Nov. 24.

How did that resolve for you, if you don’t mind sharing with me? We have/had connecting cabins until today when my cabin was recategorized. Now I’m on deck 6 and the rest of my family is on deck 12. That’s not going to work for me but since it’s a TA booking they want to deal with her. And of course, it’s Friday night. I was just curious how they resolved it with you.
I am curious what cabins your originally had booked and how many in each? We have connecting cabins on deck 9 in March, 2 in each room. When they change the category of a cabin, are they changing the maximum number of people in the room? Are they going from 4 down to 2 or 2 up to 3or4 if that makes sense that someone can clarify for me?

Given that she has not yet left Cadiz, I don't see how the first scheduled sailing is to take place.
It says she is scheduled to leave Cadiz Nov. 9. 1st 7 nighter is Nov. 24. Time will tell.
I would think that if drydock completion is delayed, there will be some announcement within next couple of days. With Ken seeing 1st 3 cruises closed, that says something that might not be good news?

FWIW...
Not sure how accurate this is, but if you look in the Royal app, it shows Oasis leaving Cadiz on Nov. 9. She stops at Grand Bahama on 18th, then on to PE on the 19th for what it says is Coast Guard Inspection. Nov. 21-23 is 2 day shakedown cruise to Nassau. Then 23rd -24th is listed as Deadhead Repo (to Miami).

Right now, I'm scheduled to go home mid-March. So there's a chance we can meet!
We are on the March 8 sailing, so might get to say hi before you leave. Best of luck for the transfer over to Oasis!

Thank you very much Sea Dog for the awesome review. We are doing very 1st Oasis class in March, so this was great to follow.
I am not the bourbon connoisseur that you are unless you count drinking Wild Turkey in my younger, cheaper days, but I enjoyed all your thoughts on the subject.

Its practically close enough to walk to Terminal 1.
We did exactly that when we stopped there on Anthem and rented a car to go to WDW...about an 8 min. walk.

Photo quoted for illustration purposes...
@twangster Looks like 4 full life boats aft on port side, so confirms your logic for the extra davits, no outdoor space. I don't believe I saw any mention of Jamie's either. I could have missed it though.

The section we are seeing is mid ship, where the hump is immediately aft of the Esplanade and features such as the bionic bar and shore excursions. Do I have that correct?
If so, is there an extra set of lifeboat davits where normally the outdoor seating for Jamie's would be located?
Or am I looking at this all wrong?
I believe you are correct sir!
Less broom closets = more cabins = more passengers = more life boats.

I really hope they create a documentary on the refurbishment as I love seeing the whole process and what they accomplish in a relatively short amount of time.
I am curious as to what the backup plan is IF something ever malfunctions with stacks where they can’t be lowered while on the way back to NJ and they can’t enter the harbour under the bridge? I am sure this has been discussed internally.

I didn't know Enchantment was in Baltimore before. When was that?

Good if Enchantment is replacing her. EN was our very 1st cruise 20 years ago. Always wanted sail on her again. Now she will be within driving distance..yay!

Sad day. I love that ship. Anyone know a more specific date? I want to try to get on the last sailing. Heck I may have it booked for all I know.
Last sailing is March 26, 2021 I heard.

To be honest, I think they are looking at a graving dock, they just need to get the environmental permits.
A graving dock would be a better investment over a floating dock correct? Especially over the long term (cost efficiencies) with the addition of so many larger ships to RCCL's fleet and even Carnival will get bigger and bigger.
Are there extra special environmental issues with a graving dock over a floating dock? I would think a graving dock would be better for the environment than a floating dock...IMHO.

How are they able to add so many new cabins with regards to life boat occupancy?

YOLO! But I did love Anthem.
Maybe there will be a few tweaks that make it more "warm friendly"? The indoor pool does have a retractable roof design, just never used. Maybe the solarium gets a tweak in the roof system. Other than the SeaPlex, there is still a lot of outdoor space...Flowrider, iFly, possibly 2 open air pools.
Not alot of good reviews about Anthem on the web

We love Anthem. I do not understand why Quantum class gets such a bad rap? People complain about the layout...it is a ship...long and narrow? Maybe I am good with direction, but I did not find it any harder to navigate than any other ship I have been on.
We have been on in January during the Jewish holiday and I personally did not find it to be any different than other cruises I have been on, but I am a pretty laid back person. When we were on in January, I think we were lucky with the weather, it was great. My kids were on the flowrider until late in the day on the last day heading back to Bayonne. There is so much to do inside as well. My kids were 13 & 10 as well and they lived in the Seaplex and on the Flowrider. We only went in the indoor pool once and that was the 1st night of the cruise.
Go enjoy your cruise and form your own opinion of the ship. It's what you make of it, but I think you will enjoy it.
