  1. I've looked at that , but they seem to repeat a limited number of ports, going back to Malta once a week or once a fortnight. That is the problem when they have to fill relatively big ships. On P&O you can't have a longer than a 2 week holiday without repeating ports. I would hope with a smaller ship Saga would do something different, go to places others don't. Explore the eastern Med, smaller Adriatic ports of Italy, not just Venice, smaller Greek islands , Turkisk ports ,unfortunately not middle East . Then explore western Europe, but not big ship ports of Barcelona, Marseille , Rome , Florence etc. Have the freedom of not returning to base all the time. I expect many Saga passengers have done the standard Med ports on other cruises and would like something different.
  2. Either I must walk around with eyes shut, or we've been on different ships, this is not something I've noticed.
  3. Check your wording very carefully, and talk to company. If holiday is longer than allowed, you could very well not be covered at all, nevermind first 34 nights.
  4. Given Stugeron only works if you take it beforehand, I check weatheronline.co.uk for wave heights each night so can take tablets in time. Been reliable https://www.weatheronline.co.uk/marine/weather?LEVEL=5&MEER=fatl
  5. Sorry but to even indirectly infer that because what one one person said Saga is full of racist bigots is completely wrong.
  6. See you on it, we'll be slumming it in a midship suite , Sea sickness tablets at the ready. They look stunning suites, and great value for the size per £ compared to other suites, but my wife feels the movement so it's midship or dry land.
  7. Never had this or anything similar said to me at all on Saga as opening comment or as part of a conversation. Most conversations start of with small talk about port or ship or even Saga. I do not recognise Saga as a bastion of old bigots to borrow Gordon Brown's words. Perhaps I've been lucky in my fellow passengers, only been on two cruises with Saga , both quite long 31 days , so actually must have interacted with a large percentage of passengers on each cruise. It is strange but very common how in many threads on cruise critic, you get such different experiences on the same ship.
  8. I'm sure they don't ring up 2000 numbers to check. Not that I'm suggesting it , but doubt if they notice if you put micky mouse
  9. I think you may well be disappointed, certainly on my November cruise guarantees are cheaper than "35%off"
  10. I completely agree, unfortunately no offers or guarantees on On last cruise, just before departure, there were 20 suites 10 deluxe for sale, suddenly all gone, as people up graded, perhaps oversold guarantees. Great for those being upgraded, but annoying if you paid full price. Asked Nigel Blanks if this trigger price promise, no response. The trouble is you train people to wait for guarantees. I would NEVER pay Select cabin price for standard Saga cabin. There are no bad Saga cabins , you can get guarantees for very substantial discounts.
  11. Saga seems to be very good for Solo passengers, in the way the help them get to know each other. You could also try a last minute (3 months) guarantee these can be good bargains compared to standard price. Remember there are NO bad cabins on Saga, no nasty surprises.
  12. I think an inaccurate description of the vast majority of Saga passengers.
  13. Sounds like Saga calling , also they include insurance (with some exceptions)
  14. You will be younger than almost all passengers undoubtedly, youngest 5% , but that would be true of many lines except the family orientated ones. Average age guess mid to late 70s. Yes some quite old but that's because Saga is very good at looking after them . However don't be put off, it's not all zimmer frames. Saga passengers tend to be young for their age. For example , on my first Saga cruise in 2022 the hastily rearranged "not the black sea" , even though less than 500 passengers, 20 plus entered a charity 10k run for Ukraine. The Brittania lounge at night can be lively if the band chooses right music , more Beatles than ballroom. Just avoid included panoramic coach tours.
  15. Not sure if being based in one of big ports same as other cruise lines is best, they should offer something different. The nice thing about Seabourne fly cruise is they are not based in one port repeating same itineraries every two weeks like say Cunard queen Victoria does. The Ships roam the med. Logistically more challenging but more variety, so can offer multiple length holidays And cruises to places you may not have been to.
  16. If they get finances sorted , no news on partnership front. Then a smaller, but nice all balcony ship , consistent with current ships. Not a second hand old ship .Small enough to go to ports the bigger ships can't go to, would be great for a Mediterranean based summer and a Caribbean winter only stoppingin UK during repositioning. We're looking at Seabourne they have great med fly cruises, anything from 1 week to 4 weeks no repeat ports.
  17. Just start another annual on day 9. If you do that with same company, you'll have continuous cover
  18. I got a virgin annual with up to 90 days £450 world wide exc USA, £140 to add cruise, we are in 70s
  19. One other thought, last year same cruise , different islands. Didn't make it to first stop , Azores, supposedly bad weather. On way back didn't stop at Maderia straight from Caribbean to Portsmouth, excuse bad weather. Perhaps having to drop passengers off , will give them more incentive to stick to itinerary.
  20. That why my last sentence clearly said it was price per day Still a healthy price putting Saga towards luxury lines and well above likes of Cunard. We must think its value as have booked again
  21. I'm on this cruise from Portsmouth on 5th Nov to 5th December. So it looks like the first 4 days and final 4 days will not be a full ship. Looks like the guarantee sale for full cruise has not filled ship. I like sea days but more importantly, it would also need a big discount on 30 day price to outweigh complications of flying , and more importantly airport hassle, 3 hours sitting round. Happy to be on a lovely ship . Also don't like flights to Canaries or Maderia, 4 hours in cramped plane , no opportunity for upgrade to decent seating. If I wanted a fly Caribbean cruise , would longhaul to Caribbean, then find a 2 or 3 week cruise. I understand why Saga are not making this much cheaper than the full cruise, as these cabins will be effectively blocked, no one will book a 4 day one way cruise to Maderia, or one way back from Tenerife.
  22. I would also let them know, if it would be acceptable to you , you would compromise at last resort with a change of cabin between sectors, better than no cruise. However this would be a significant negative and expect compensation either money, or a very significant upgrade.
  23. No-one should be expected to retire to stateroom (aka cabin). The question is is there enough seating for the number of passengers. Whilst there will always be a few inconsiderate people , mass seat hogging and sunbed hogging will be primarily caused by lack of seats or sunbeds.
  24. Perhaps may have to accept different cabins on each leg
