  1. If you had booked with a private travel agent, you would have been notified in a timely manner by them and would not have had to worry about your junk mail harboring an important message from Seabourn.
  2. OK. That would work! You can bring everything you might even dream of needing.
  3. What is Netjets Air Charter? Enlighten the rest of us. We shipped one bag on Luggage Forward and it worked out fine--but I was even worried about that.
  4. Interesting question and I THINK the answer is no---that there is not tea served on the day of embarkation. If someone knows differently, I would like to know. But, on our recent cruise, we entered the Observation Bar at the time tea would normally be served and it was not happening.
  5. I'm sure we can weather really hot weather better than most people, but we certainly don't seek it out on a vacation. You will NEVER find us reserving a chaise on the pool deck. Not ever.
  6. You make me laugh! But, in a way, you are right! (Do you know me?) I really resented having to plan this way. Is this what the world is coming to? Thank you for helping me put this into perspective. I think I was too paranoid about lost luggage. But then, we met people on our cruise whose luggage never arrived. While they were valiant and put up a good front, in the end, it did sour them on the cruise overall.
  7. I think because we are from Texas, we really hate hot weather and avoid it if at all possible. Maybe we are in a minority?
  8. I was able to pack for 14 days in a carry on. It DID take me two months to figure out how to do that--but I did it. We also shipped a 48 lb bag packed with things for both of us--but this was packing fairly light. Ideal? No! Doable? Yes!
  9. We also prefer warm weather cruising but not hot weather cruising. There is a difference.
  10. I understand what you are saying. But, my real point is of course about the future. If every summer is bringing these extremely hot temperatures in this region, I would think future plans would require some adjustments.
  11. When I mention the veranda--I am talking about the outside area of the Colonnade. This is probably where you will be directed. The Patio Grill around the pool is on deck nine and has weather protected areas.
  12. I totally understand your ability to adapt your plans according to weather. However--others have planned to see Pompeii or another site and would not be happy changing plans.
  13. We enjoy having lunch on the veranda of the Colnnade on embarkation day and usually have a very idyllic experience there. We just go out and find a table and seat ourselves and wait for our server--no need to get into the fray of the inside area of the Colonnade. We order from the menu (which is quite short and not ideal) as we are not buffet people. I do believe you could also dine at the Patio Grill around the pool. Our suite in June was on deck 9 and as we walked over on embarkation day we saw many people enjoying lunch around the pool.
  14. I've been watching news reports and today the city of Rome reached 110 degrees Fahrenheit. I know for a fact that Mr. SLSD and I will not be cruising in the Med or anywhere near there in the summer going forward with these kinds of temperatures. We already live in a very hot climate (Texas) but do not choose to travel to one. Will future cruise itineraries adapt? Will there be too many cruise ships going to the most sought after areas?
  15. Hmm... all of this is new information for me. I always thought direct was nonstop on one aircraft.
  16. I have no idea where you live or where you will be flying from, but I am assuming it is not a direct flight. Our trip back from Copenhagen (tickets purchased through SB) in June was THREE flights. Not a fun experience.
  17. I agree that tipping is out of hand in the US. We go to a Taco place where you pick up your food at the counter--no wait service--and there is a place on the bill for a tip. The real issue is that many people are not paid a living wage in the United States.
  18. And, in the case of women's clothing--so many things cannot be put in a clothes drier. Men's clothing is so much easier to send to the ship's laundry service. We DO utilize the ship's laundry service for all of my husband's clothing and some of my items.
  19. Every passenger on a Seabourn ship now gets internet included--no extra charge UNLESS you want the premium service. For most people, the basic service is probably just fine. On our recent cruise, we upgraded to the premium because I was a total klutz logging on and off my two devices and the premium service worked better for me.
  20. I remember using them years ago. I can't remember the last time. It might have been in the 1990s in France.
  21. You can call Seabourn and find out, but I am willing to bet that the answer is no. I did a little research just now and see that you asked this same question in something like 2012! My online research says that Carnival will cash traveler's checks, but says nothing about Seabourn.
  22. I hate to say it--and I have changed my mind about this--but the idea of a formal night is beginning to seem a bit archaic.
