Hey Below Fans, two things. Did anyone watch that “Project Runway” with the Below Deck cast from all the franchises? The designers had to make new uniforms for them. A couple of them looked pretty good the others were stupid including Mzi’s, Captain Sandy, and Captain Jason. Also I was watching Below Deck Down Under and find that deck hand Harry makes some of the weirdest faces. Several times I thought he reminds me of someone. Then it hit me he looks like the Muppet character “Beaker.”

I bought a bottle of Barrel I think it was batch 91. At first I wasn’t blown away but after some time I grew to like it. It’s basically blended MGP bourbon. You will love the EH Taylor. The single barrel is one of my all time favorite bourbons. I just wish you could get it. I have two and half bottles left. I drink it sparingly because it’s so good I don’t want to run out.

I heard that my syrups should last about a month. Need to taste beginning and then after a month and compare. I’ll research it but I think the AI version could be pretty close. Need to check this out for our April sailing. That looks pretty accurate from other cocktail ms I’ve made. Good score never seen Dad’s Hat before. I like the Barrel series but it’s pretty pricey.

Those are some great recipes. I’m a big fan of Appleton Estate. I have experimented with several recipes. I really like this one. Ultimate Mai Tai Recipe ½ oz Appleton Estate Rare Casks Aged 12 Years ½ oz Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum ½ oz Plantation OFTD ½ oz Plantation Xaymaca 1 oz Lime Juice ½ oz Orgeat (Latitude 29) ½ oz Orange Curacao (Ferrand Dry Curacao) ¼ oz Demerara Syrup (BG Reynolds) Garnish with mint sprig and spent lime shell The Smith and Cross is a really great funky Jamaican rum. It really changes the complexity of the cocktail. Let me know what you think? Proud of you for making your own syrups. I need to make a Demerara. So far I’ve been using BG Reynolds’s.

As much as talk about cocktails and spirits here on CC I actually only drink on Friday and Saturday nights. On a cruise I too want to have a good time and enjoy the drink package. After I get home from a cruise I’ll detox by not drinking for a couple of weeks at least. I’m a firm believer in moderation if I didn’t my health would be in jeopardy.
