  1. Sad that your place was destroyed holding a lot of fond memories. I used to go every year down to Fort Meyers to cover the Kansas City Royals in spring training before they moved to Orlando. I loved Fort Meyers and every year we would go to the Bubble Room. I loved the decor and oh those desserts were to die for.
  2. Cruising with cocktails tonight. Going Tiki with Below Deck Sailing as Parsifal 3 is falling apart. First up, Sea Dog’s Magic Dragon, a creation I came up with after tasting another cocktail with Dragon Fruit. Very tasty! Sea Dog’s Magic Dragon Ingredients 1 oz Light Rum Plantation 3 Star 1oz Aged or overproof rum 1 oz elderflower liqueur 1 oz dragon fruit puree 1 oz lemon juice fresh squeezed .5 oz simple syrup .5oz coconut water .5oz Falernum Dash of Orange bitters Next up a Rum Barrel created by Don the Beachcomber, one of the original Tiki cocktail pioneers. Lots of ingredients in this one and pretty potent.
  3. Especially now that Lenny has passed away. I have several of his signed memorabilia but I’ll never sell them, too personal.
  4. I love this! I will have have the honor of doing a speech inducting Lenny into our new KMBC-TV Hall of Fame ceremony for our 75th anniversary celebration this August. I miss him. He was an incredible human being and a pretty good football player as well.
  5. We’ve always gotten our cats at a shelter. For our Cavaliers we always get purebreds. Less health issues.
  6. Welcome to the family Lola! Excited to see some pictures of her. Enjoy and thank you for getting a rescue dog.
  7. It came back on its own 30 minutes before the tech showed up. He tested everything and said the router is fine. I asked why it took more than 24 hours for it to come back on? He replied he doesn’t know. He suggested next time to unplug router and let it set for 30 minutes before turning back on so if it happens again I guess we will try that. I’m just glad we finally have the internet and tv back.
  8. Google Fiber will come out tomorrow afternoon. I guess Linda and I will actually have to talk with each other tonight. 😉
  9. I’ve experienced that a number of years ago when our hot water tank crapped out. It’s no fun. Our house relies on having the Internet with our Ring doorbell and security cameras, Alexa for our daily alarms and of course our ability to watch tv. I do have a over the air antenna but because we live in an area surrounded by hills I can only get one channel. Looks like we will be on our phones a lot tonight and through tomorrow.
  10. Frustration today in that my internet went out. On the phone with Google Fiber for over an hour trying to reset the router. No good so they will send out a tech tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime can’t watch our YouTube TV or use our computers for the internet. I can only connect via cellular on my phone. So I may absent for awhile until we get this fixed. Ughhhh!
  11. Yes I agree. I was brought up by my parents with the mindset if you can’t say something nice don’t say it at all.
  12. That's really sad. They should realize by doing those types of things will not help their cause just bad publicity.
  13. Linda and I had a very fun afternoon at the Tiki Huna. It's set in a bunch of container bars and shops in an area called the Iron District in North Kansas City. Our spot was the Tiki Huna. My favorite was the Starry Dynamo And the Saturn. Our host was Darrell Brogdon He has a syndicated radio show called the "Retro Cocktail Hour." They play all kinds of Exotica, Tiki, Space Aged Pop music. You should check them out out: https://www.retrococktail.org/ Great guy and was so interesting to talk to about his knowledge of music and Tiki. The place was packed and was so much fun. Needless to say the cocktails were amazing.
  14. Two completely different types. I think Kraken is a column stilled rum. The main difference is taste. With Tiki cocktails they use a wide variety of rums each with their own unique flavor and taste.
