  1. You should be able to message within the app as well (without purchasing Wi-Fi), except it won't provide push notifications. A person would need to be check their messages to see who has reached out.
  2. Following for the same answer....and track!
  3. Yep. I've done it on most every cruise. Often multiple times before I sail.
  4. Thanks. I live in US. I, too, recently refared an Alaska cruise for this summer at significant savings. That process seems to have become a bit more difficult than previous times, but I'm persistent. We think we're going to pull the trigger on it during this timeframe. Likely gonna choose our 80% solution on Majestic vice 100% solution on Sun. Sun had a better itinerary and newer ship, but cost differential was just too great at the moment. Not a fan of Majestic, personally, as there isn't a track for us runners to use.
  5. Does anyone have any experience or insight as to what promotion to expect after the current 29 Feb expiration? Looking at some Med cruise options next Spring (2025). Curious if I'm risking too much by not being decisive enough right now.
  6. Yes. After going into Airplane mode and turning Wi-Fi back on to connect to Medallion system, turn on Wi-Fi calling. This allows you to use your phone (calls / texts) as if you're connected to a cellular network. Android.
  7. Interesting. While Princess would collect the same fare revenue with a single paying for two, they'd lose out on extra potential on board spending? Perhaps their profit models have established a "single capacity" to limit that potential? Weird.
  8. We will ONLY sail Royal Class ships. MUCH prefer the food setups on Lido as well as the enhanced fitness facilities.
  9. I frequently am in / out of my room from 5AM to 7AM for workouts. Sometimes our door closes forcefully to ensure the locking mechanism is fully engaged and recognized by the Medallion system. That being said, the time of day is irrelevant. I get annoyed at noisy neighbors walking halls cackling after 8PM or 9PM as we wake early. We all have to understand that our normal is not necessarily others' normal.
  10. Any discussion of Wi-Fi pricing will be moot in a matter of years IMO. Hotels and even airlines offer for free in many cases these days because it's just become expected. Much like phone carriers used to charge for phone minutes, text messages, or data limits. The market will force cruise lines to offer this for free, especially if Princess wants folks to use the full functionality of the Medallion (although I know one doesn't need external internet to use Medallion features).
  11. To be clear to your actual question from an avid runner...I frequently run over 1 hour on the treadmills. I've not seen a sign on Princess ships limiting like I have at hotels / gyms. Others' posts are correct about hours being different based on type of ship. The Grand Class ships (Ruby, Emerald, Crown, Caribbean in my personal experience) don't allow people to run on the mills too early because of what people describe above as limiting noise for rooms directly below. Royal Class ships all have their gyms over top of Horizon Court / World Fresh Marketplace and are open 24/7 (although an attendant starts ~7AM). All Royal Class ships also have a track up top that is advertised as 7 laps / mile....although GPS measurement in port puts it closer to 6 than 7. I used track for easy effort runs due to tighter turns (I've done 3 marathons on board before), but I've found it useful to be clear of track no later than 730 or 8 due to volume of walkers clogging the running lane a bit. It empties out later in the day when it has been hotter on our preferred itineraries. I use treadmills for intervals / speedier sessions of up to 10ish miles in the past.
  12. Looking for a "nice" Marriott in ATL, I'd recommend the JW Marriott in Buckhead or The Whitley (former Ritz) right nearby.
  13. Only indoor "pool" is part of their spa. Plenty of outside hot tubs in various locations. Yes, they have pink sugar subsitiute packages.
  14. Inside cabins that are oriented sideways are our favorite. While it might not be actually bigger, there is a much better flow and definitely more storage when the closet / bathroom location where it is.
  15. It is definitely available before 7. We frequently start workouts before 6. The fitness staff just arrives at 7 for classes, etc. It very well could be close 2-4 for something like cleaning, but for all intents and purposes it will be open when you want it.
  16. We've also seen Rekorderlig on board even in the Caribbean, but the ship had just come from the Baltic. That being said, such a think could be available on your itinerary especially. We've also really enjoyed a drink that used to be on the menu (made with Strongbow) that is still available (just not listed). It's called a Granny Smith. It can be a nice way to switch up a Strongbow. It's essentially, apple schnapps - lemon juice - and a Strongbow made as a cocktail.
  17. I believe we spoke on FB earlier, but for others that may be following....same email to me for same ship / deck / room type (diff date). I chatted with Princess online and was able to get "downgraded" to original room. 🙂
  18. Personal preference. While I personally never choose to wear such things, it is up to the individual. It shouldn't matter that you are female. If you are proud of your service and accomplishments associated with your medals, wear 'em! It could be good for more folks to remember that women serve(d) just as proudly for the cause as their male counterparts. As a federal civilian working within DoD, I see many fantastic service members of all types performing admirably for our great Nation.
  19. I had same concern and swapped on board for the sustainable version. The device actually screws apart into two halves for Medallion to be placed. It cannot come out. We are really happy with our choice.
  20. One can go up the outdoor ladder (stairs) to the putting green or sport court. My wife and I have used these spaces in the past to have outdoor fitness when not running on track. We've never taken mats / weights out with us though. We just use pool towels on synthetic grass for yoga, etc. The aft room described above has lots of fun toys like kettle bells, sand bags, BOSU that are rarely used. I'm sure one could take those outside if they were so bold. Unfortunately the outdoor space immediately behind the gym is the smoking area. The outdoor space directly in front of the gym could be usable as well, although the floors are hard pool decking (rarely busy in that space).
  21. Princess, Can you please dispense with this character? The loud gimmick brings zero value to my crusing experience.
