I don't think Carnival will be in Norway anymore, but someone can correct me.  They aren't in Norway  in 2024.  Environmental regulations for the Norwegian Fjords changed in 2024 so I don't think Carnival's older ships meet them.

Isn't the requirement to be emission free by Jan 1, 2026 to sail in the Norwegian Fjords?

Degrade the party until people stop showing up for it, then cancel it due to lack of attendance/interest. This sounds vaguely familiar!

    Ah, yes. The Fun Farewell.

Thanks!  Glad you had a wonderful cruise.  Iceland is on our short to do cruise list.

Hey Jimbo! Didn't realize you were also on this Greenland cruise -- have a few other friends onboard too.  I'd definitely recommend Iceland at some point as I'm pretty sure you would really enjoy it. Sorry to hear you aren't making it to Greenland this time.

    Happy sailing!

Make it a $75 or better yet, $100! I thought is was overpriced at $38 so unless it drops to $25 or so they can revenue optimize all they want as long as other suckers are willing to pay. I suspect less people will be inclined to purchase it as the prices continue to climb higher but if the ultimate goal is simply higher prices vs higher sales through volume, it make work for a while before plateauing. Revenue optimization can lead to revenue losses and decline just as easily. Simply demanding higher prices doesn't always equate to demand, whereas lowering prices through increasing volume is usually a surefire bet.

Having the same (or greater) amount of revenue with a reduced throughput is not a bad thing…

I remember the not too long ago when internet ( verrrry slooowwww) was per minute , then a page would take minutes to load and you were just counting the $$ in your head...So I am still thankful for the unlimited even with a hike up in price

We have come a long way. I don't mind paying whatever the cost is to have an unlimited package as I remember what it was like back in the day as well.

I never prepay gratuities, especially if gratuities are going up. The staff deserves every penny of their gratuities.

Curious -- if gratuities are prepaid at the old price structure, is that what the crew receives? Or would they be reimbursed at the new recommended amounts and the cruise line eats the difference in cost? Seems one way could be easier for accounting purposes but obviously not as cost effective.

That link shows $48 for me still. I'm not seeing $65. I wouldn't pay $48 so $65 would be nuts.

It's competitively priced and I wouldn't object to going at the new price point.

Overall, I'm very pleased to see these price adjustments and revenue optimization strategies and look forward to them being expanded to other cruise lines within Carnival Corporation that I sail on.

We pay cash for our cars and several times I've tied doing that, but the dealerships have always told us that they will only allow 5K to be put on a card.  Too bad - I would also love the points.

Really? My dealer lets me charge in full on my Amex. Had to pay a small percentage to cover their merchant fee though

But Carnival still requires a covid test for the Pride sailing in Europe,  yet none of the European countries require a test to enter.

It is a pain in the a** to fly over there and then find and pay for a covid test and then hope that it's negative before you get on the ship.

It discourages people from flying into the UK/Europe early,  a lot of people are getting their free test at Walgreens etc in the US and then flying to the UK/Europe less than 72 hours before cruise

So yes I do hope that Carnival drops the testing requirement, especially for European cruises

Sounds about right -- our cruise leaves from Reykjavik, Iceland on the 19 and we arrive very early in the morning on the 17th after an overnight flight. With a 16 hour tour planned on the 18th, it's a bit inconvenient having to arrange this while in Iceland.

But for $100 per person in a balcony with $200 OBC? It kind of negates those things.. I can book a more ideal sailing later, but I'm certainly not losing anything with the price I'm paying.

I’ve turned down several free Carnival offers. Why waste valuable time for an inexpensive trip knowing I wouldn’t enjoy it? You get what you pay for.

My expectations must be different than yours.

This is definitely helpful. I have read repeatedly that glacier bay is not to be missed, so it may be in our best interest to wait until we can get a better itinerary. As much as I want to go, I know this will probably be a one and done (the Alaskan itinerary) so it may be more worthwhile to wait for an itinerary that will be amazing. Thanks for the advice. We’re not cruising in 2023 but we may push this to 2024 and get a truly exceptional itinerary.

My pleasure! Sometimes you need a more negative outlook to have a more open visual of what you’re looking for.

My advice- check out Princess or Holland America. They have the largest presence in Alaska with the most experience in the area. They secure more permits than the competitors for some glacier viewing experiences and have the connections to bring local experts onboard to really elevate and immerse you into Alaska.

This is one of the few itineraries where cost shouldn’t be a factor and it’s better to reserve exactly what you’re looking for.

It could be better, but for $70 pp, not per day but the base fare of the cruise - I don't think I can complain.  I have seen Glacier Bay, on carnival on my first Alaska cruise.  The one way cruises are the best I hear, but then I also hear you are seriously missing out unless you do a land portion tour too.  I thought it was an amazing deal myself.

    Meh.

Why waste time off with such a disappointing itinerary? I’d still rather pay a higher fare and enjoy my trip. Cost isn’t everything.
