  1. These comments are do dumb. Can't believe in 2022 people still post "if you don't like it, don't purchase it" crap. Someone can enjoy Carnival and still be annoyed, not like, or even hate some features and still enjoy a cruise. These replies are simply dumb. It was the same response I got when I posted on John Healds FB about poor late night dining options. People just need to grow up.
  2. Care to share any cutbacks that RCL, NCL, Disney or Virgin have announced since restart?
  3. And yours is an opinion as well.... ...that I disagree with. You are not seeing people get off in Freeport or Nassua when on the 6000 person RCL "blank of the seas" is in port. I would extend that to a great number of ports with the exception of private islands. A surmise a great number of people may do a port once then when they've "been there, done that", they simply stay on the ship and enjoy all they have to offer nowadays. Maybe in Europe\Med, that could be the case, but for US cruisers, I'd say the ship is the draw, not the ports.
  4. And I will disagree. Carnival announced they are 100% back with all ships returned to the fleet. Splendor was the last one I think. So tell me, why run ships with low staff and cut back on passenger offerings when the could easily take the 1000 or so staff from Splendor, and perhaps even keep Ecstasy in dock. You would then have over 2000 crew members that could be reallocated throughout the fleet. Sure, there may very well be a delay in visa processing, but if that's the case, keep ships offline until there is the staff to adequately man them.
  5. I hear ya. We just had to let our pool guy go because it was just too expensive and I can do the same work for less, albeit with my labor and expenses. But we booked last week for Radiance. I am more worried about the cruise experience. Seems like everything is kinda going backwards.
  6. It's in our nature to love drama. Otherwise BravoTV wouldn't exist.
  7. Sure, I totally get that pov, but...I am on a cruise, it's vacation. People are up, messing around, playing board games, having drinks, maybe just chit chatting with family. Why should I have to go get room service if I am hungry past midnight.
  8. It's a slow Monday at work so i thought I'd fire off a post on John H's FB page and see if he'd reply. My question...Carnival's late night food options are atrocious. Pizza after 10pm is always an hour or more wait. Why can't Carnival get their late night food options worked out? NCL does it right with O'Sheehans. And stop blaming staffing. Well, got a response from JH in a matter of minutes... "First of all I hope to see you very soon having fun with us again and thank you so very much for writing to me. I’ve never ever in all of my time heard it called “atrocious” I think you’ll find the entire cruise industry suffering from a staff shortage thanks to the lack of these is being issued by the United States government. We hope that that will change. I hope we see you very soon and the pizza and all the fun and affordability of a wonderful cruise with us will be waiting for you. Thank you MICHAEL, sending you and your family my very best wishes and hopes again to see you soon. Cheers mate" So I followed up with... Blaming everything on staffing is getting old. If staffing is an issue, why the rush to start the ENTIRE fleet back up? "I don’t want you to think that, I want you to think that we appreciate your comments so very much. But it is an actual fact, that we have hundreds and hundreds of crew members waiting to return to work and they cannot do so until the US state department issues of Visa. We’re working on this as you will see in a video coming very very very soon. Cheers mate at my best wishes to you and your family and hope to see you soon" *Another lady, evidently a TA, agreed with my comment about staffing and starting up the entire fleet, to which he replied to her with... "And the sensible answer is that we have reduced capacity on some of the shorter Cruises and move the stuff to the bigger shapes that have longer Cruises. If you would like to send me the name of your travel agency Pamela I will ask Adolfo to personally speak with you about the situation. Thank you so much and let me know and I will be here to help you" ...Anyways, I know I was being snarky but I think Carnival can do better. I love Carnival, we're booked on Radiance next month. I just think that it's pretty evident that it's a larger problem that JH thinks. Meh, maybe I'm making a mountain out of mole hill, but again, slow Monday. Topic looks still active with JH making another comment... John Heald - Posts | Facebook
  9. That's generally why I want late night eats. But some people eat small during the day, or perhaps have an early dinner. I am a fairly athletic guy with fast metabolism so if I eat at 5-6pm, I am hungry by 9pm, or earlier. If I am up late, I get hungry. Personally, I love NCL for their O'Sheehans pub food. It's great after a night of drinking.
  10. You could very well be right. I just remember reading about getting checked in. Perhaps I am mistaken if you checked in online. I don't have kids so I am the wrong person to ask.
  11. Don't you want to get him enrolled in the kids club first thing?
  12. I picked up some nice rum in Freeport but that was about the best of it. Saw the news about this new CCL port today on the CruiseRadio.net Cruise News vid. Happy for the people of the town to have new jobs and options for employment.
  13. This guy gets it! Couldn't have said it better. Covid is endemic now.
  14. lol, we just got a great fare for Radiance in July. Put it on hold and purchased the next day. Went up $300 the day after that. Carnival in July has me worried. Usually, wife and I always cruise off peak season (no summer)
  15. My kind of review! Brilliant! Great to hear you had a good time! I agree with the comments about crew. In my review of the Miracle a few months ago, I wrote how I overheard a waitress say "We love our jobs and we want to be here". Might be just playing up the customer service angle but I've always felt that way with CCL staff.
  16. Interesting stats but without the ability to compare to 2019 (pre-covid), it's very difficult to make any conclusions about first time cruisers now vs then.
  17. I did not notice any more "blue cards" on our cruise in March than normal. Certain nothing I could quantify. I would say that those who are not experienced with cruising are staying well away from cruises. All one needs to do is look at the news for the latest "outbreak" or listen to Fauci talk about the next strain. I tell people I went on a cruise and I get that pulled back, scrunched up face with the comments "it's safe to cruise", "aren't you afraid of covid"...or the usual..."cruise ships are gross". I think the lines are trying to bring back their core cruisers and it's not there yet. Close, but some ships are still below capacity. I think first time cruisers will come back when testing is done away with, vax mandates dropped, kids clubs fully open are all implemented.
  18. I guess I don't understand Carnivals speed in getting all their ships back up in service? If they can't staff them all 100%, why put them all in service?
  19. Ozium, the only one I will use and trust to eliminate odors.
  20. Interesting post but the problem is, it's not consistent across the brand. As can be said with any bad reviews, the ones who had a bad time write about it. The ones who had a great time, generally don't. I had none of the issues you wrote about on my small old Miracle back in March. I was initially worried, not about testing postive, but about getting results back in time and Kaiser came through like a champ with getting my results in under 24 hours. But yeah, cruises really are "buyer beware"
  21. Meh, I enjoy talking to my wife during dinner. I went to a dinner and theater show here in San Diego and I did not enjoy it at all. *I really like what I am seeing from Virgin and how they've shaken up dining. Really excited to go on a Virgin cruise. Especially like that I can get good, fresh food late at night.
  22. I dunno...on one hand, seems "supply chain issues" are the excuse du jour for anything really. On the other hand, I walk into any Costco and there are pallets of soda, booze, you name it. I know nothing of logistics but I often take was JH says with a stink eye. *Funny story, I was on our last Alaskan cruise (pre-covid) and they were out of a number of alcohols. I had ordered a Guiness and it was out. Bartendar indicated that they had a bunch of Brits on their repositioning cruise that drank so much, the ship ran out. He went on to tell me they needed staff to go to local grocery stores at port to buy booze and such.
  23. This! Going from San Diego to Long Beach can be a crap shoot. You never know what you're going to get. We've made it in 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. But to @cruizergal70some people just want to get all they can out of their vacation (maybe their not retired) and get on board asap. For many, vacation days are precious, kids could be ancy, you might be hungry after long flights etc. I don't fault the folks who want to get on as soon as possible.
  24. I think alot of this should be taken with a grain of salt. From what I understand, all passengers boarding are run through NCIC and anyone with active warrants can be removed from the ship. It depends on the state and if they are willing to front the expense of transportation etc. The latest I saw was three arrested. The death was a young child who had a seizure and sadly passed away. Mom was very upset to the point of it "looking" like an out of control, confrontational woman. There was some raising of voices during debarkation but it was some old ladies. No fisticuffs, lol. Yes, weed was found on board but is that really a surprise. I smelled weed on the Miracle last month. The delay in debarkation was due to the CBP slow to arrive.
  25. The "Shiplife" vlogger did a video on it. Meh, no surprise really. I've seen bad cruisers from the US, Mexico (they often come up from Mexico and board in Long Beach), Brits and Italians. I also seen older folks make more noise then others when problems arise. Roll of the dice I guess. Sadly, he indicated the death was a young child.
