  1. They can make off menu if they have ingredients. They made me a champagne cocktail when I gave recipe When we were on board, we ordered a Rusty Nail in TSL and the bartender responded that he did not have one of the ingredients. We told him that the casino bar did have Drambuie (because we'd ordered a Rusty Nail there) and Hubert was on the phone immediately to the casino bar. We only heard his side of the conversation, but we clearly heard him say that he was in YC and he expected that the Drambuie would make its way to YC as well. I believe he said that if it did not, he "felt sorry" for the person on the other side of the phone. If you know the ingredient you need is elsewhere, speak up! 🙂
  2. We also enjoyed Hubert's Sidecars and Old Fashioneds on Divina. Ashish was the day bartender and never disappointed either. Looking forward to knowing how Seascape's bartenders please as we cruise with @DaKahuna and the week before as well. Enjoy the anticipation -- it'll be sailing time before you know it! 🙂
  3. I find this thread quite ironic to read. A few months back, there were questions of whether "real" tomato juice was served on MSC. I had replied that I was served Clamato on Divina and there were several posters who were quite disappointed. Never can please everyone, I guess.
  4. We've always viewed the daily service charges like resort fees at a land-based property. We separately tip individuals for excellent service at both types of properties in addition to the daily charges/fees.
  5. Oh if only we could rock out like this in TSL! Though later at night, we do enjoy the piano music. We'll see who we get for bartenders since that can really set the mood.
  6. We will do our best to prep them for you! LOL
  7. I grew up with someone whose parents loved "cutting edge" technology. They grew up with only digital clocks and couldn't read an analog clock in the 1980s. I was astounded!
  8. They did in April, but it was a bit inconvenient to scan them each day to post them here on my live thread. I have heard that they are now available online and I'm looking forward to that on our next cruise in September on Seascape.
  9. Here is the entire page -- notice it is the first item listed, even before the safety drill information:
  10. No, you are not allowed. It was clearly stated on the front of the Daily Program for our entire cruise:
  11. We had lunch there the last day. It was a nice peaceful few hours and we could linger over the food longer than in the YC restaurant. We were on Fantasia, which has a nice amount of shade by the bar.
  12. It's like when you first bought a car with power windows or bought a house with a dishwasher -- you can never go back to "regular" again. 😁
  13. You can hang out at the pool as well. Or the YC restaurant. Or any other place you want. 🙂
  14. You'll be able to stay in YC pretty late, depending on when the ship is set to depart from port. We've stayed past lunch, until close to our hotel check in time of 3ish. You still get food and drink, just like any other YC guest. You do need to vacate your room in the morning though. The concierge desk held our carry on luggage until a butler walked us off.
  15. Regardless of the published "close" time of the One Pool bar, once it gets later into the evening they will close if no guests are up there. If you're going to stay on that deck longer, you will have success in getting them to stay open a bit longer if you let them know of your intention to stay up there. And, of course, if you've established a nice relationship with one or more of the bartenders up there, you'll be all set. 😉 It's just like TSL -- where they will close early if everyone has left, but will stay open late if guests are still there.
  16. Definitely not! I do not want to know it. Towels are my friend -- is all I know.
  17. That's what I did -- I used my spouse's image for my check in. They took a new one of me at check, of course. 😉
  18. I have always covered non-leather surfaces. Being a road warrior before retirement, I had lots of hotel rooms that needed extra towels every single night. 😉
  19. Also keep in mind that anything you charge to your room has the potential to earn you some type of points/rewards on your credit card. Double dip into two loyalty programs whenever possible!!
  20. If I choose a GF meal from the MDR menu, then it must come from there and does take longer. I rarely do this. The few times I have, I don't recall any temperature issues. I don't normally like the MDR items so I usually have them alter a YC menu item to eliminate the gluten. I don't even ask to see the MDR menus unless there is nothing on the YC menu that appeals to me, which is pretty rare given the Everyday choices of filet and salmon. YC items arrive on the same timing as my spouse's same course, even when altered. The YC folks are great at changing the preparations of YC items to accommodate GF needs. Reminds me of the line from the old Burger King jingle, "Special orders don't upset us."
  21. This is quite interesting. Is this just Seascape perhaps or Sea-class ships in general? I know that on the Fantasia-class ships, YC has its own kitchen. The chefs have spoken with me often as I navigate the menu items and they alter preparation of dishes to make them GF for me. If I ever ask revert to the MDR menu to choose a GF item that is not on the YC menus, it will take considerably longer for me to be served and they are always very clear up front to expect the delay. This is also why Le Muse "runs out" of ingredients even though they are available elsewhere on the ship -- YC uses a better quality of ingredients pulled from their specific stock vs. the MDR.
  22. This is so true and one of the reasons we prefer to not leave YC. I don't understand how people can act like this. And if it's around the Jungle Pool, then children are seeing this wonderful example of so-called adult behavior.
  23. You want to mention that you are GF at every interaction that involves food just to be extra careful. The toast might be problematic. They are super careful and putting GF bread into a regular toaster may not be something they will do. Even in YC, where the kitchen is much smaller, I have been told 'no' to toast. Sometimes, I've asked them to just put it on the grill and I've had success with that suggestion. They really want to prevent have cross-contamination -- which you and I both know is a great thing! PS: The MDR should be open for breakfast. And on sea days, I've heard that there is now a "brunch" in the MDR that runs to the afternoon. You might have better luck with toast in the MDR.
  24. I am also GF. When I submit the special needs form, I always get a reply (though it is more of a standard reply than a personalized one). I suggest you resubmit it as soon as possible. I believe they request to receive it 60 days in advance of your sail date so better to send it in now vs. waiting. This gives them an idea of how many GF people will be on board and need various GF foods. We always sail in Yacht Club so we've never used room service for breakfast. They do always offer me GF bread at breakfast in our YC restaurant, though I don't know if that would still be available to you for room service. GF pizza crust is available fleet-wide. I've been on sailings where they don't have any available when I've asked. I would think that making sure to submit the special needs form improves the chances that they'll have it. When they didn't have it, I was able to easily remove the toppings from our room service pizza and eat it with absolutely no adverse reactions. We've never used the buffet, so I can't say if that would work there as well. I will tell you that I thought the GF pizza crust was one of the best I've ever had -- so good that I asked them to save the edges of my crust for dinner instead of the GF bread they regularly offer me. Yes, they thought I was nuts. Yes, I was so happy I did not care. 🙂
