If not, then the CDC would have extended the ban by now..

Today is 20th.........  They have till  Sept 30th 11:59 pm to extend the order.......  Last time they extended the order 8 days before the last expiration date.     COVID IS is still a public health emergency in the US..

The CDC notes its order is in effect until either: the expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services' declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency; the CDC director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations; or until September 30.

That’s exactly my thought. There’s a risk/reward balance the CDC is trying to maintain. That’s why I see the order being lifted in November

very unlikely!!!!!!!   The cruiselines have not submitted their recommendations to resume cruising to the CDC YET.  If they have they would have made a big deal out of it.  There is no solid proof of crew getting called, getting ready to go to the ships or anything like that. They said it would 8 to  6 weeks to get the ships ready to sail again.     BTW the cases in Europe are on the rise again..................  https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/17/europe/coronavirus-europe-who-second-wave-intl/index.html

Not to be a big let down, but until a press release or email to you comes out stating it has been cancelled, no Carnival rep will say it has been cancelled.

If you had called Carnival yesterday about cruising on the Paradise in January 2021, you would have been told "of course the cruise is still scheduled".

I feel there will be more cancellations by end of the month.

And since this is a zero sum game, cruising either will or will  not start in November in the USA, we will all see who was right.

I bet @beerman2 will be right........  Also I believe that there will be no cruises in November......... All but 6 ships have no bookable sailings in November........  "Sold out because of Cap" excuse is getting old...   Carnival needs to be upfront

  5. There will be cancellations for November.   If you have noticed all of the cruises for November except 6 ships out of Florida are not bookable.   I'm not buying the excuse that all of other cruises are SOLD OUT due to capacity on every sailing on every ship besides of those 6 ships.   We have seen this before.  They gave us excuse that they are full to the cap.....

The port in Long Beach is open now. It has never closed. Note that the Cruise terminal is not controlled by the Port of Long Beach. The cruise terminal is controlled by Carnival. They have already said they are open in November. They have used the down time to make improvements in the traffic and parking near the Dome to sweeten the experience of embarkation.

Long Beach is in LA County, but they are not controlled by the county health department. The city is one of three in California with their own health department

Nobody said it was closed...................  Carnival doesn't own the port of Long Beach.....  There is more than the cruise ternminal at Queen Mary, there is the  cargo  terminal....

We still have a cruise scheduled from Charleston on the Sunshine leaving on November 9th.  DH called and was told it was not showing availability because it was full due to sailing at half capacity.

yeah right  sold to the cap excuse again.

Well it’s at least 2 a husband and wife bartender and bar manager12 years with the company, 8 on the Magic, rest on the Vista. They stay in touch with many cruise crew and they have not got any marching orders.

I imagine  Carnival will call the crew members who want to go back and have some seniority first to return to the ships..   Most likely "new crew members" are replacing old crew..    If "the rumors"  are true we would be seeing more crew being called........

I thought I had read that somewhere I made a mistake.  I do not believe any Cruises will leave the US before the end of this calendar year.  I hope I am wrong and it ends up being safe enough to cruise.  I don't see how it will just after the peak of a pandemic, but you never know.

I agree.  I believe that the CDC will extend no sail order through mid December or till end of the year.
