Some people clearly live very charmed lives where they link to stories about N95's while simultaneously claiming that random pieces of cloth and flimsy blue things with warnings on the box saying they "Does not provide protection against Covid-19" are effective against respiratory illnesses.

    Huh😳?༼ ºل͟º ༽ 😂

Just call them veggie patties, veggie rolls (Sausages should contain meat, no?)

The word sausage originally meant "to season with salt" No mention of meat. In northern eastern Poland there is a traditional sausage which is hog casing stuffed with mash potato. I suppose if you swap the hog casing for something plant based it could be vegan too😂

Vegan sausages are a real puzzle, makes you wonder what is really in them.

I have had vegan sausages filled with chickpeas. The flavour was good but the texture was grainy and it was pretty dry.

I totally disagree with you.  First of all, Florida is very diversified.  Agriculture, international trade, and aerospace are huge industries in Florida.  However, Florida's number 1 industry is tourism, and rightfully so.  It generates over 100 billion dollars annually.  It's a big reason why residents don't have to pay a state income tax and sales tax remains relatively low.  Floridians need tourism, which includes cruising, for their economy to continue thriving it way it does.  There's nothing wrong with that.

There is something wrong if you plan on going to court and suing over it. If it is a death knell to the Florida economy then they are clearly too heavily reliant on one industry. The reality is there are many industries that end for whatever reason especially when they are not necessities and reliant on the trends of people's whims. Every government should be planning for a bust as much as a boom.

Ha Ha  I'm not a food snob.  I love nothing better than eating fresh bread soaked in soup or stew remains.  I'll try it next time I make my own chips, as most chips from fish and chip shops aren't of the standard you mentioned (except a shop at Burleigh Heads and Frankston, Tas).

You could try a crisps butty. That is a sandwich using packet chips. We use to make them at school when we would have a sandwich and one of those small chip packets, you would put the chips inside the sandwich giving you the cruchiest sandwich😁

Please redirect your lecture towards the uber drives, longshoremen, local suppliers, hotels, cruise ship employees, corporate employees, restaurants, island businesses, etc etc. Please educate them how unnecessary their employment is

But that is my point. If everyone is so heavily reliant on the cruise industry for employment than that is the fault of the government for not diversifying their economy. The reality is we can live without cruising so no one is obligated to save an industry we don't need. You could argue the same thing about soft drinks or nigh clubs. They are things we don't need, the world would go on fine without them but if your whole economy is wrapped around one industry that isn't the fault of COVID19 or COVID reduction practices it is the fault of the government assuming the good times will go on forever.

  7. 1 hour ago, Joebucks said:

There are PLENTY of ways to responsibly start cruising. We already see it happened, but that "science" is not approved. 550,000 is not an argument for cruising. The points of the numbers argument is to build on just how often we take things to such monumental scale. This happened to one person, therefore hundreds of millions need to change. No. Just no.

Cruising is superfluous🙄. The world has gone on just fine without it. It is a nice thing to have but at the end of the day it is an unnecessary activity so it is hard to justify risking people's health on unnecessary activities. If a state or country has become overly reliant on one industry for their economy that is their government's fault for not diversifying their economy so it would be more robust in times of crisis. It is not everyone's else's responsibility to make up for their government's complacency.

In Darling Harbour Food Court? Went there with my son a couple of months ago, reasonable prices and good tucker, the nachos were huuuge!

Oh no this is out West😆, though they are a franchise so maybe there is a store in that area. They use to have a self serve bar of garnishes. I use to pile the jalapenos but since Covid you now have to ask for it and they give you a little container😕

I had never heard of them until I went to England when I was about 20.  Could get to like them.

The ex (US) and her sister would put chips in their hamburgers.

And there are those places which sell souvlakis and kebabs with chips in them.

were already overseas long term and have had their circumstances changed recently and now find themselves in trouble.

Those people I do think of as stranded. I remember when I left Japan last March they were saying by July everything would be fine. Some of the people I met on my flight back were saying their co workers whose contracts didn't end till this year chose not to fly back because they were assuming everything would be normal by this year. No one was expecting the borders to be closed for this long and certainly didn't help that you had politicians constantly saying by so and so month things will be open😬. It makes it hard to plan anything.

I posted a new announcement from CDC about their extension of the no sail until November. It's gone and I have no idea why. All I did was link to it.

That happened once to me too. I started a thread on topic about cruising and next day it was gone😳. I started it again and that time no delete😂. It would be nice if they provided a reason when they delete. Some deletes don't seem to make sense.

People could take others land in Australia and not be compensated in anyway?  Does Australia separate ownership rights?  For example mineral, water and land are all considered to be separate property?  I think this is possible in the US and maybe Canada as well.

I don't know enough about USA and Canada to compare and it also depends on state law. Because of the gas grab happens in NSW I know more about that than what happens in other states though I have heard of issues in WA with minerals. In regards to water management that is actually a pretty complicated issue. You would have to deep dive each community and most of my knowledge is only around the Artesian Basin and Snowy Hydro. I've been deleted too many times to put my energy into writing a full run down of the system. If it is something you are interested best to find a forum on the topic🤗

Thanks Julie, I can see how a scallop "pie" could be a problem. How do you get the pie crust baked nicely and not overcook the scallops. I guess you could bake the shell empty and then fill it with a scallop mixture, maybe some bechamel with tarragon and leeks use a potato topping and bake it off quickly.

The scallop pies in Tasmania are cooked with the roe. The one I had was in a curry sauce. The roe becomes nice a mushy and adds to the sauce. Personally I liked it but then I enjoy the funky roe flavour.

It's not that abuses don't happen everywhere, but to think that all governments are the same in regard to respecting private property rights just doesn't ring true to me.

I don't think anyone is saying that but the point I was making at least is that no country as far as I'm aware doesn't have ways to take away the rewards of hard work and the reality is unless someone has closed those loop holes there is really no reason it can't happen again.

It's easy to say "those people should have come home earlier" but many may have been in circumstances where they couldn't just pack up and go and now some of those people are stranded.

When I was flying back from Tokyo I met some passengers who had been working there and they described the process of hastily packing up their things and one girl said she pretty much left everything behind but she was lucky as she had a landlord that was kind enough to mail things back to her and even deal with selling her car, yet despite this she nearly missed her flight because she caught the flu and had to get a Covid test to retain her seat.

I would like to see some real examples of government appropriation of business without compensation in places like the US, Australia and Europe.  I do recognize that  COVID regulations and edicts put a lot of people out of out of business in the name of public health, but this is somewhat different to me than what happens in countries with less robust legal systems and were confiscations of assets happen when someone runs afoul of politicians.

In Australia it is not uncommon to have farms appropriated by gas companies with no compensation, just recently a case was settled in the state of Queensland for 40 years worth of wages that state government "appropriated" from Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. If a government project is going to be built where your house is you get a tiny handout, they certainly don't pay the value of the property. I haven't deep dived all the countries in Europe or USA but I've heard some cases that are similar. Couple of years ago in Poland the government appropriated a horse breeding farm😳, no idea why but apparently it went from a world class breeding place to nothing 😂.

But it doesn't have to be government appropriation. You look at the case of Flint in USA, the government changes the water source it completely devalues property prices. For years while the water remained undrinkable people couldn't sell their houses to move out. In Australia property insurance is withdrawing coverage in many areas due to climate change risk. So people whose houses burn down or get flooded out can't afford to rebuild and their land is unsellable because it is considered red zoned so they essentially lose everything due to a decision that was out of their control and no one is compensating them. To me I regard these things the same as someone directly seizing your assets.

And once covid settles down in uk, if it ever does, these repatriated people will be flying back to their high paid jobs. So those still awaiting a flight may as well stay there.

That is assuming the job still exists. These people are mostly working on contracts so when the job is finished they no longer can work. To be fair I don't think anyone expected it to go this long. I remember last year Scott Morrison saying by August there will be travel bubbles🙄. With advice like that from your country's leader of course you are not going to leave😒

I want to know which countries where that doesn't happen😂
