  1. We purchased this insurance also with an annual policy. It is called Geo Blue.
  2. I bring granola bars (good to have when in port and you need a quick bite), nuts, and small chocolate bars. My husband is diabetic. We recently sailed on Princess and asked for nuts with our drinks at a bar while listening to a singer. We were told they no longer have them avaailable since covid. I also bring a few Crystal light lemonade packets that I use to mix with water in my water bottle.
  3. We sailed on the NS right before covid shut all the cruises down. We really liked the ship, the food, the service and especially the live entertainment. There was an awesome Rock Room band we listened to every night.. We had a inside cabin and felt it was sufficient for our needs. And, we had a large glassed in shower! We ate in the dining room, Dive in Burgers and the Deli/Pizza location. You can order a whole pizza to take to your room, if you would like to do so. We have mostly sailed on Princess and we liked our NS cruise even better. The only negative, if there is one, is that Princess has great Broadway type shows in the theater. All the Princess singers and dancers were great.
  4. We cancelled our November 5th NS Cruise due to my husband and I both testing positive for covid. We are still waiting for our fcc to appear on our Mariner account. We would like to book a February cruise. I called our travel agent who called HAL and was told the fcc should be posted to our account in a few days. We were told if we wanted to book before our fcc is posted to our account, we would need to pay for it and then request a refund. He did not recommend doing that.
  5. We had to cancel our November 5th NS cruise due to both of us testing positive covid tests within 5 days of sailing. Still waiting for our fcc to appear in our account. We wanted to book a cruise for the end of February. I called our travel agent lzst week who checked with Holland America and they told him the fcc should appear on our HAL Mariner account in a few days. Still waiting. Hoping to book soon. Any update from others that have received their fcc for testing positive for covid pre cruise? How long did it take to receive it?
  6. Zelker, thank you for the information. I will call Holland America to get their best pricing for the cruise we are considering. I didn't realize that you could book directly and then transfer the booking to a travel agent within a certain time.
  7. We are fairly new to sailing with Holland America. This variable pricing seems confusing to me. How do you know if the sailing is eligible for The Mariner early booking discount? We have only sailed once previously with Holland America. We have booked in the past for cruises with Vacations To Go Travel. Should we check with Holland America by calling for their best pricing? Price with Costco? Do you have to be a member to book cruises through Cosco? We are considering the Feb 25th Southern Caribbean 7 day on NS. Thanks for any input/direction.
  8. Thank you for your reply. The rapid NAAT test at Walgreens is what I scheduled. The types of available tests are confusing to me and I didn't want to pick the wrong one to get.
  9. Thank you for sharing your experience with having to cancel due to testing covid positive and that you were advised you will be receiving a future cruise credit. It makes good sense that Holland America does not want folks that test positive prior to embarkation getting on one of their ships with so many other pàssengers. We will be happy to reschedule a cruise when we are able to do so sometime next year.
  10. Has anyone used the Holland America Covid Protection Plan to cancel a cruise within 5 days of embarkation due to a positive covid test? It is my understanding that a future cruise credit will be issued to be used within one year due to this coverage once the proper documentation is received and approved. If yes, what type of covid test did you submit to Holland America for this documentation? For instance, Walgreens, has 3 covid testing options available at the pharmacy: 1. PCR (takes several days to get results back) 2. Rapid NAAT (results within a few hours) and 3. Antibiody (results also same day). I want to make sure to get the proper testing done for this coverage to be effective. I called Holland America and spoke to a customer service representative and she told me it doesn't matter which covid test is done as long as it is observed by a health professional and you receive a written report documenting a positive result. I would appreciate any cruise critic member's experience they may have had with this situation as to which test is acceptable by Holland America. Thanks very much in advance for your help.
  11. We just did anytime dining recently on The Enchanted. We did choose it pre-cruise. In the afternoon when we decided what time we wanted to dine, we went on The Medallion app. to see what dining room reservations were available and chose a dining room and time. That worked well for us--we were seated right away. I know you can just show up at the dining room and wait, but we did not try doing that.
  12. The best meal we had in the dining room in my opinion was the prime rib (on Enchanted) which was served the second to the last cruise night. They did not have much variety on the dinner menu.
  13. I have had luck with asking for a call back when prompted when calling Princess. I have gotten a return call within about 15 minutes two times in the last few months. Better than being on hold.
  14. We ate at Gigi's one night for dinner on The Enchanted`s 10/15 to 10/22 sailing. They had salads, minestrone soup, a few types of pizza, calzone, a rolled eggplant dish and tiramasu on the menu (that I remember). We thought the food was good and it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
  15. You may be sailing from Manhattan Cruise Terminal, not Brooklyn. To my knowledge, Brooklyn cruise terminal is used by Princess and Cunard Lines (at least currently). I would check to confirm what cruise terminal MSC is using for your sailing.
  16. We disembarked the Brooklyn Cruise terminal this past Saturday October 22nd around 9:45 a.m. We stayed on the Enchanted Princess as long as possible because we had a later (2 pm) flight out of Laguardia. There were some taxis, but there was a very long line of folks waiting for a taxi. There was another long line of folks waiting for Ubers. We ended up taking a private car (black suv) to Laguardia. There were 6 of us that decided to ride together and the charge was $20 per person. There was a lot of stop and go traffic to the airport. Vehicle was newer, very clean and driver drove safely. I do not know the name of the car service, but they had several vehicles available for pick up at the port to go to the airport. I did notice on the taxi ride from Laguardia to the ship, there was a sticker on the side of the cab with the name of an app. on it. Our taxi driver said to download the app. and use it to get a taxi from the port to the airport, but I forgot to write down the name of the app. Taxi from Laguardia to Brooklyn cruise terminal was $38 plus tip. There is a taxi stand outside baggage claim area and there were plenty of taxis available. I did check with Dial 7 Car Service and they quoted me $190 for 4 people from Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to Laguardia. Good luck and I hope your transportation from the cruise terminal to the airport goes well.
  17. Thank you. I will definitely check out the on-line patter version on Ocean Concierge once on board. That will be helpful. The Medallion App., Journey View, schedule prior to boarding does list the days, times and names of the Broadway shows, two indivudual singers that are scheduled to perform and the comedian on the schedule, so it is helpful--just difficult to read because of the scrolling/moving of the screen.
  18. Our cruise departs tomorrow and I have been able to view the schedule on the Medallion app for a few days. I find it difficult to view. I click on a day or time to view and the screen scrolls too far and too fast. I wish there was just a list by day you could look at or by the entire week.
  19. Am I able to to use my phone using wifi calling for texting and phone calls while on the ship without any cellular charge (if on airplane mode)? I have used my phone this way when out the country and it worked great with no extra charges, but I do not know if it is the same on the ship? Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks for the responses regarding MUTS. It is something we have enjoyed on warm weather cruises. Movie selection was generally not great, but we have seen a few newer movies that were pretty good. Popcorn, although appreciated, is generally not great either.
  21. Are MUTS shown on the NE Canada Itinerary? Is it too cold to watch movies on deck? Sailing on October 15th on The Enchanted. If they do show movies, what is being shown now? Thanks for any recent experience.
  22. You can call Princess on the phone or chat with a customer service rep. Give them your booking number and which passenger needs a wheelchair and they will add a wheelchair to your embarkation and debarkation. I did it through their chat option on the Princess website . It will then be on your travel summary under your personalizer when you print it.
  23. I tried to buy the Medallion internet today on the app for 1 device and the purchase price showed the full price ($69 and change I believe) and said I would receive a 50% discount for being Platinum in obc on board. I couldn't get the purchase to go through(received an error message)I chatted with Princess and they said I need to call back tomorrow for assistance.
  24. We will be going there soon also. I don't know how long your anticipared itinerary will take, so hopefully someone else can answer that question, but I did read there is a free hop on hop off Trolley and the #67 line will take you to the Cliff Walk and Mansions. I think It is RIPTA and it is called Bellevue Trolley. They have a website with information. Had anyone used this free trolley? I am interested in information also, but wanted to share the free Trolley option which we plan to use.
  25. Reps23, sorry to hear that Carmel Limo cancelled your return trip from the Brooklyn cruise terminal to Laguardia. Was it difficult to get a taxi and what was the price? Thank you.
