  1. Thank you and Haljo1935 for the suggestion of purchasing Club Orange. I decided to do it and we got upgraded to an unobstructed balcony on Deck 7 in the forward section of the ship. My husband and I are looking forward to being able to dine in the Club Orange Dining Room and I am looking forward to enjoying the balcony. Thanks for letting me know about Club Orange.
  2. How is the Rock Room Band? The one we saw at the end of February on NS was outstanding.
  3. Thanks for your input. I agree. We don't spend much time in our cabin. I did book Betoveen Deck, Cabin 4134. I will be happy to be able to go outside and get some fresh air and have natural light. Last time we sailed on NS we were in an Oceanview cabin, so this is definitely an upgraded cabin for us.
  4. Thank you for sharing your experience. Would Cabin 4099, 4101,4103 or 4105 be a better choice in your opinion? Maybe a bit less obstruction due to being by a lifeboat instead of a tender? The cabins are in the same class as 4134. I would like a little less obstruction, if possible. I will be happy to be able to sit outside and see some ocean. We have sailed twice before on Nieuw Statendam. Once we stayed in an inside cabin and once in an oceanview cabin. Thanks again for everyone's input!
  5. Thank you both for your input on this potential cabin choice and the suggestion of adding Club Orange, if available. We have not done that before and I was not aware of potentially getting a better balcony cabin with that, as well. This would be for a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise.
  6. Thinking of booking cabin 4134 Beethoven Deck - obstructed balcony. I know it's obstructed by a tender or lifeboat. Has anyone stayed in this cabin or near it? If yes, would you book it again? Do you get some view of the water? Quiet location? I have searched Halfacts and reviews, but still am wondering if it is an OK choice? It is about $500 more pp to get an unobstructed balcony cabin on deck 8 or similar. And about $200 pp less for an inside. Thoughts, please?
  7. We were on the NS February 25th sailing out of Port Everglades. We were assigned a 1:20 p.m. boarding time for 3 pm sailing. We arrived around 11:00 a.m. (we needed to return our rental car by 11 a.m.) We were given a boarding group card after we checked in at the pier. We were able to board as soon as our group was called which was shortly after 11 30 a.m.
  8. We were on the NS 2/25 sailing. The happy hour 25% drink special at 3 to 4 pm did not entice me to have a drink at that time of day. We did purchase drinks in the evening while listening to music. Margaritas were served in very small glasses (not resembling a normal margarita glass) and I tasted very little alcohol in them.
  9. We sailed on NS in cabin 1024 (deck 1) and felt very little movement of the ship. Southern Caribbean 2/25 sailing.
  10. How was the Rock Room Band? We were on the NS February 25th sailing and the band was outstanding. It was their last week of their contract, so I am wondering about the new band. Thanks.
  11. There is an app. called Shipmate. You can add your cruise under my cruises and click on the tab/button for notify of price change. I believe you will be notified by email by a price change.
  12. Internet is pricier than Princess Cruises. Princess is $5 per day for 1 device (at a time) if you are Platinum or Elite. $10 a day if you are not Platinum or Elite. Considering the cost of Internet on Holland, we plan to do without it for a week. Can you access Internet for free at Half Moon Cay?
  13. I do not get an error message. When I click on Flight Ease - check flights on Holland's website when I am logged in and pull up my booking, it just takes me back to the welcome screen to book spa treatments, pay for beverage packages, etc., and those links work fine. I did check with our travel agent and got a price on a United flight and it was the same price that I got myself on United's Website and 3rd party booking sites. About $350 per person for a one way flight. Thank you.
  14. Thank you. I will try to access potential airline flights on HAL's website this morning. If it still doesn't work, I will check with my travel agent.
  15. Hank, thank you for the information. Our cruise is the end of February. We just booked it in the last few days. I am wondering of I should call Flight Ease or my travel agent to get an airline price quote? I am not able to look up flights on Holland America's website when logged into my account.
  16. I logged into my Holland America Account for my booked cruise. I clicked the look up flights, but I can't access this information. Do I need to call Flight Ease or my travel agent? Hoping I might be able to get a better United fare than on the United website. It is a domestic one way post cruise flight. Worth trying? Thanks.
  17. We did receive our future cruise credit posted to our Mariner Accounts. I saw it when I logged in. I had been checking a few times per week. No notice was given to us that we had received it via email, etc. We cancelled our cruise the end of October due to both testing positive for Covid within 5 days of our cruise scheduled for November 5th. We received our credit on approximately December 22nd.
  18. We purchased an annual policy from Geo Blue this year which covers International travel and medical evacuation, if needed. It was very reasonable cost--I believe under $300 to cover both my husband and I for one year. It is good to know it also would cover us on a cruise in International waters. We have not had to use it, but thankful we have it, if needed. A friend told me she buys an Allianz Executive annual travel policy. She did use it when she was hit by a motorcycle out of the country some years ago and said they were easy to deal with and paid all her medical expenses, including surgery and hospitalization. She said they even paid for a family member to fly overseas and stay with her during her hospitalization and to fly home with her. She says it covers her in internationally, on cruise ships and also 50 miles or more from home in the US. Maybe another insurance option to explore.
  19. Has anyone stayed in a larger interior cabin near the elevators which they would not book again due to elevator noise or folks talking by the elevators? If yes, would you please share what deck and cabin number you had? Thanks!
  20. Glad for those of you who got such a great deal! I logged in and don't see any of those rates. I am only a 1 star Mariner. We really enjoyed our NS cruise in 2019. Planning to book another cruise on NS this year. Thanks for sharing your experience booking great cruise deals!
  21. Thanks for the updates. Glad you both got your fcc. We are still waiting for ours since the last week in October. We did get a refund of the taxes and port charges refunded to our credit card right away. Once we decide on a cruise to book, I will call and see if Holland will apply our fcc we are waiting for.
  22. Still waiting for our fcc to show up in our Holland America account. Has anyone received their fcc for having to cancel due to a positive covid test? If yes, how long did it take from cancelling to receiving the fcc? It has been over a month. I thought we would have received it by now. We would like to book a February cruise.
  23. Thank you. I didn't realize that I was within the final payment date.
  24. I am confused about this also. I am considering booking a cruise for February 2023 which states it includes prepaid gratuities and 40% fare discount, but I did a mock booking and don't see the gratuities listed in the fare pricing. It also says $25 deposit eligible, but after where the pricing is listed it only states the options are to pay in full or do a courtesy hold.
