  1. dont worry about it, they rarely (if ever ) check your boarding docs for the check in time. consider also, the earlier you check in and get on the ship, the longer you will have to wait until your cabin is ready. if by any chance, however, you are platinum or above, or staying in a suite or haven suite, you get priority check in regardless of what your docs may say.
  2. hey laszlo, yes, but (1) would your recognize the songs (2) what if you anger travis kelce?
  3. i would just like to address your comment on "songs people know" please consider that people of different age groups "know different songs" i know doo wopp songs from the 50's and early 60's, sung by some groups people have never heard of. I'm also 76 and even if she's probably the most visible entertainer in the universe right now, i wouldnt know a taylor swift song if she were sitting on my lap and serenading me. in 1972, when i was 22 and my nephew was about 11, we were discussing one of his school projects involving music, and he had no idea who the DOORS were. also, i understand many people around the mid 70's had no idea paul macartney was in a band before WINGS (hard as that may be to believe). consequently, it's probably impossible for any musical act to play songs all "people know" . With a few thousand people on board, im sure any cruise line will have to select many of their offerings to appeal to the largest amount of passengers. as rick nelson once sang "you cant please everyone" we were on the star this past april and it was our 30th ncl cruise. out of all of them, this was the most disappointing, the food was horrible, although i cant complain about the service probably unlike most cruisers, the onboard entertainment is completely irrelevant to me. as for 2+ hour dinners, 1st off, im not in any particular hurry, and trying to feed a few 100 people in specialty restaurants, or even greater numbers in the mdr's will take some time. so while i am truly sorry you were disappointed i the above, i hope the itinerary, your cabin choice, and the price you paid offset the - aspects
  4. while it's easy to throw stones, you cant make ncl a target for this one. they have no ability to control the itineraries of other cruise lines/their ships. even if one of their smaller ships is in santorini port, it's still a massive hassle to wait in line for the cable car down. we were in that line a few years again, and i can swear my 1st marriage didnt last that long
  5. if you log on to your reservation, you can even elect to buy the starbucks package, giving you unlimited coffee options
  6. while i cant speak directly about the prima, i can tell you that on most ncl ships, if they have both a haven complex, and a "suite" the rooms, services and almost totally the same, except the suites are about 2- thousand dollars cheaper and if in a suite, you dont get the specific haven amenities, pool, bar, lounge and restaurant. personally, i can forgo those and save the money. On other ncl ships if booked into a suite, breakfast in moderno, lunch in cagneys's , but i understand there is no moderno on the prima. as an aside, let me travel, are you sailing on the sept 26th departure from reykjavick
  7. you are 100% correct, i'm looking at various destinations on ncl for 2025, and currently the prices are (imho) outrageous
  8. back2cruising1. we were onthe ncl star last month, and on he 1st day, the concierge came to our cabin with a list of all the specialty restaurants and all we had to do was fill out the dates and times we wanted to go to each one. done deal. whats even better, if youre staying in the haven complex you should have no problem getting reservations. again, talk to the concierge. depending on the length of your cruise, and which specialty restaurants are onboard, why dont you try and avoid the hassle, and each dinner in the haven restaurant,
  9. ok, im not sure this will work for everybody, but whenever we're in the buffet, if we want a drink (soda, beer or liquor) we ask one of the many busboys working there, and he/they always bring a drink ( tipping $ 2 for this service). when we were on the star last month, there was also a small bar set up where you could get beer, wine and coke by the can. worth anther $2.00 tip
  10. grouchomarx i wouldnt recommend dinner in the buffet every night, but depending on the length of the cruise, i would give it a shot at least once. there are so many choices available in the buffet, that you really cant go wrong, and you certainly wont leave hungry! we just got off of a17 day cruise on the star, and after 28 cruises all with ncl, this was the most disappointing. we had lunch one afternoon in versailles and and a dinner in aqua, and both times they were deplorable. as a + however, you can get crepes for dessert at the buffet
  11. fyi, i was looking for special treatment of any type, i didnt offer my usual vegas handshake, all i wanted to do was treat the other couple to dinner. it didnt seem to be a problem, and it wasnt difficult to accomplish. maybe you are all correct, and i just got lucky
  12. hey chief, the invite is always open. we're in the haven on the prima sept 26. i bought the premium drink package (for the 1st time) so we can drink all the single malt scotch or guiness they have available
  13. they didnt lose anything, the meals were already paid for so why would they even care if we ate or didnt eat, and the other couple didnt have anymore freebies, and would have probably eaten in either of the 2 mdr's or the buffet, it was just like treating y our friends for dinner, same same
  14. we booked a privatesea previously, and NEVER AGAIN. i didnt fully understand what it actually was and when we got into the cabin, it was a major disappointment. i felt boxed in.
  15. i believe if you log into your reservation, photo packages and photo options are listed among the choices for food, beverage packages etc. and everything else available
  16. it's my impression (and only my impression ) that as long as the dinners are paid for, why would ncl care who is using them. we got 3 because it was a 17 day cruise, 2 because we're diamond, and the other 5 we paid for. ncl lost nothing by letting us use the last free dinner for the other couple.
  17. on our last cruise, it was 17 days rio to lisbon. we bought the 5 extra dinner package giving us 10 for the cruise. we met a nice couple in rio who was sailing onthe same cruise. on the next to last day we still had 2 free dinners, we asked the maitre'd and the concierge, if we could use the other 2 dinners for this couple. there was no problem, so the 4 of us went to cagneys with no charge
  18. the meat comes on a long skewer to be carved at your table and if youve never dined at a brazilian steak house, be aware that in moderno, they slice it right off the skewer. sometimes if you advise the server how you prefer the meat, he might be able to slice a few pieces according to your request. sometimes he/she can go back to the kitchen and ask for the meat be cooked as per your request. regardless, you only get a few thin slices of each. if you were expecting a regular sized steak, go to cagney's . i will add however, that i agree with some posters, that the quality of the meats has gone done considerably, so unless youre going for the experience, moderno (imho) aint worth writing home about!
  19. if you're willing to pay for it, expedited service will get you your passport within 2 weeks or less
  20. chiefmate. i always tip the chef making my crepe, as well as the one making my omelet, and the one making my pasta
  21. cruiseagona without beating this question into the ground, had you just asked "can you get freshly made crepes on board the ship. im sure anyone who has sailed before would know exactly what you meant. there are many types of crepes, the ones being made are dessert crepes with assorted fruit fillings at a station at the dinner buffet. i see that cruisen4 life also understood the question.
  22. we've cruised to all the countries mentioned and NEVER had a problem with mosquitoes. we were on the star last month beginning in RIO, and were warned about mosquitoes so we bought repellant prior to leaving the states. No mosquitoes whatsoever
  23. how can the crepes be "homemade" if you're on a cruise ship? isnt homemade usually made at "home" LOL. we were on the star last month, and crepes were available ( and being made right in front of you) at the dinner buffet
  24. that is incorrect, buffet has a variety of choices, none of which coincide with either MDR
