  1. I wanted wifi with streaming, extra $10 a day per person. My reasoning for getting this is to use wifi calling while on the ship. I had unlimited with streaming on my cruise in May and it worked perfectly. My son just had regular unlimited and it really didn't work for calling and was pretty slow compared to mine. While I wish I didn't need it but it makes me feel better that I can check on my family and dog at home. The other reason is the $9.95 calling and texting feature on the NCL app is useless and now I can stay in touch with my husband on the cruise when I wonder off alone while he is taking a nap.
  2. I agree with you 100%. I will let you know. I will probably wait until tomorrow to check my account and call if I don't have my confirmation.
  3. There is no way to upgrade the extra $50 shore excursion credit so I know that is not the case. My account shows I have 1 as the regular free at sea promo and 2 more that has to be the plus promo. My guess is she forgot to send me the confirmation email and it may take a day for all changes to show up in the my account. I do want my confirmation email so if it is not received soon I will have to call and request it. I book through CAS so I do not know if I can do that through the chat function.
  4. Sorry my brain is kind of fried today after being on hold with NCL then a long work meeting while I was typing my update. You are correct, free at see plus. The interesting thing is that she said I would get a confirmation email. It has been over 3 hours and no email. I can see some updates on my account and the price and my cabin changed, I now have 2 $50 shore excursion credits (actually it shows 3 but I am sure one will disappear), my 2 extra dining shows up but my beverage and internet have not been updated yet. I also noticed my bogo flight went down from $298 to $249. I really don't have time to call again today so I am hoping I get an email and don't end up on hold again!
  5. I called today and upgraded to perks plus with streaming at $59.99 a day/pp and we do have the air promo so that was not an issue. I am on a port intensive cruise on the Escape in September 2023 and had a spa club booked. I have been meaning call to change the room to a MA since we would not get use out of the spa with only one sea day. When I called to make the change I added the perks plus promo. Yes, $59.99 a day sounds expensive but I was going to add 2 specialty dining's and streaming wifi which would have been $498 but the extra $50 per excursions ($300) for guest 2 basically on cost me approx. $42 for the premium plus beverage package. It may not make sense for everyone to pay extra but it did make sense for us. The bottom line of changing my cabin and adding the package only cost me $230 so for me it is a win.
  6. I would say it depends on how you view your cruise. If you are good with the free dining and drink options and no internet then do not take the free at sea. Personally, I like to have several drinks a day when on vacation so it works for me. I also enjoy the specialty dining and even upgrade my internet so it works out. I have cruised on carnival and royal many years ago and my bar bill was a shocker to me. I don’t like surprises so I prefer to pay upfront even if it is seems more expensive it usually ends up saving money in the long run for me.
  7. I had the Starbucks coffee after ever dinner on the breakaway in May and no extra charge from the regular drink package. The coffee was listed as $10 on the menu so there was no charge.
  8. Trust me there would be complaints about that too. I will admit I am a smoker but non smokers and ex smokers complain even when you follow all the rules. I do understand it is a filthy habit but even when you smoke in a smoking section of the ship or casino you will see people judging you. I am a polite smoker and try to not cause any issues but you always get the face fanners that give you a dirty look.
  9. I have a club suite spa balcony booked for September 2023. I will say the price went down from last promo but it is still higher than when I updated my booking in June. I booked over a year ago and rebooked several times as prices went down. I rebooked in June due to a CAS discount from my last cruise so now prices do not help me since I am just paying the upgrade fee (plus of course all the fees) so as prices for my room go up or down so does the room I qualify for through CAS..
  10. I had travel insurance but not for the flight. Lesson learned about using NCL insurance for the cruise. I can afford the loss but it opened my eyes for the need to insurance outside of NCL when they don’t book your flights . Decline their insurance and buy your own if they are not booking your flight.
  11. The only thing I don’t like about Miami is the airport but I was stuck there for a day over Memorial Day weekend due to flight cancellations. To fly in and out it is fine unless you end up sleeping there. i ended up paying double to fly home from Ft Lauderdale just to get home 2 days late. If I waited for a flight from Miami it would have been 3 days late. Between hotels, food, and clothing ( once you check your bag you can’t get it back regardless if your flight is canceled) I spent an extra $1500 for 4 of us. I swear I will never go back to the Miami airport. I am going back in November but flying to Ft Lauderdale.
  12. Power strip (without surge protector), Bonine or Dramamine, travel clothes hangers, mesh laundry bag (for dirty clothing), wrinkle release spray and magnetized hooks. Also emergency medical kit (cold meds, cough medicine, pain reliever, band aids, etc.)
  13. I hate to say this but I agree they are charging too much especially if you want to book the Haven. Personally I can’t justify paying Haven prices when I can do b2b2b for the same price in a balcony and sometimes a club balcony as doing one cruise in the Haven. I still work for a living so I can’t do last minute cruises to price watch and I also like to do a couple land based vacations every year so the Haven may just be a dream until I retire.
  14. As long as you are not after final payment and of course if you are using FCC which would make a difference you are free to do whatever you want. You have to call and make the change, can’t do it online.
  15. The bathroom alone is worth the upgrade price to me.
  16. I hope it stays that way and DH is doing well. Everyone in my group have cold like symptoms so it is mild so far. I had Covid in October so I am hoping I have a little extra immunity and will stay negative!
  17. I was on the same sailing and I agree that getting on and off the boat was a definite problem. I enjoyed the cruise but found that getting seats in the MDR was an issue with one closed and getting drinks was also a problem at times. There were many good things such as Six and Burning the Floor and some bad with the over crowded pool deck and the early morning short stop in Tortola. While Covid was never really mentioned on the cruise 3 of the 4 from my group tested positive upon return. I am only one that has not had a positive test so far. We knew the risk going in so we are not complaining about it but I think there were a lot of people who came home with a Covid souvenir.
  18. You did what you thought was right and honestly it was but unfortunate they quarantined you for no reason. I am leaving Sunday on the breakaway. I have my Covid tests packed and enough meds to make it through in case of Covid. I had Covid in October so I knew what to bring. Only problem is I have 5 pounds of meds in my suitcase so had to remove some clothes to make the 50 pound weight limit! I am fully vaccinated, breakthroughed, and double boosted (last on being 14 days from today) and hoping for the best. if I test positive on my Covid test I will let them know and do the right thing and quarantine.
  19. I assume they probably wait until the last minute in case of covid cancellations.
  20. I had this problem also. They are looking for how he is paying for his cruise expenses.Just include them in your account. They not are trying to make you pay more for insurance. It is just the card you are adding to your onboard account. You can straighten that out at check in. Don’t stress it will be fine.
