  1. I saw a few but not many. I really didn't go looking though.
  2. This is what I saw on Discovery on Halloween 2022. I saw a few of the crew dressed up but not too many.
  3. My experience was the taking the picture inside the app did not work for me. I took a picture outside of the app and then used the app to upload it. It took princess forever to "approve" it but eventually they got around to it.
  4. Not sure about a "live", but I am a photographer wannabe and will be on that very ship, that very day. I will be taking pictures and video all over the ship, or trying to.
  5. I have been on NCL and Carnival. I have not been in any solo cabins on Carnival but I have booked a solo cabin on NCL. The lounge was only okay. It is largely empty for most of the day. They have a crew member hosted solo meetup right before dinner to get a count of people that would dine together. You don't have to go if you don't want to. They have snacks in there and the bar is manned for about 2 hours during the evening. In my view it was hardly worth it for just that. I probably wouldn't do it again. Most ships have a solo meetup that may or may not be hosted by a crew member. I have actually never been to one as I never really felt the need to. From what I have heard from other people that have gone said that the meetup was sparsely attended, nothing really happened and was a waste of time. If you want to have company for dinner, just ask the host to seat you at a shared table or tell them that you are willing to share. I generally get seated a table for 2 next to the window so I can watch the ocean go by. That suits me just fine. If you are looking for company on a tour around port, join your roll call and see if there is anyone else interested.
  6. I haven't heard of one but not being in the UK, not surprising. You might have better luck asking in the UK forum. Good luck 🙂
  7. I tried to take a picture of my vax card in the app and it wouldn't work. All I got was errors. I finally wound up taking a picture of my vax card outside of the app and then used the app to upload that. It took several weeks before Princess "approved" it. YMMV
  8. This posting may answer your questions
  9. Sorry for your loss. Traveling solo can be scary. Remember that as a general rule, cruisers are a pretty friendly bunch. If you feel like being around others, then you are free to do so and should feel welcome. If you feel like solitude, you can get that too. Do what you want when you want. The only person that you have to answer to is you. Want donuts for dinner? Why not? Sleep in until noon? Sure, why not. It's your vacation, do what you want. The cruise lines that I have been on have solo travelers meetups. Might be worth while to go and see if you can find an excursion buddy. Take advantage of the excursions. They can be very interesting. Go to the trivia games. A lot of the time you can join a team so it's not you against everyone else. You can sit alone in the MDR if you want to, or you can ask to be seated at a group table with other solo travelers. I usually get seated at a table by the window so I can watch the ocean go by. Take advantage of the shows on board. Comedians, magicians, musicals are available most nights in the theater. Most of all try to have a good time. Recognize that if you need alone time, that's okay too. 🙂
  10. I just went through this. I got the verification email and was really expecting something from Princess letting me know that it was posted. Never got any email. Finally, I went spelunking after a week of waiting. It actually took about 4 days from verification to posting on my account. You can look at your travel summary document, scroll down, more down, almost there. In a section called "Invoice" you should see a line item named "Military Benefits".
  11. Typical "reality" show crap. Long on hype and short on reality.
  12. My experience may not apply anymore with the advances in technology lately but.... The last time I cruised out of Fort Lauderdale, we docked and started throwing everyone off the ship. It was really slow going. Found out later that they only had ONE customs guy manning the gate to try and get 3000 people processed through. It was that way until about 10 am when they finally brought ONE more agent in. Went a bit faster after that. I had a 2pm flight out. I missed my flight.
  13. I disagree. They would rather charge a single person $3000 because you are paying twice as much and only getting half of the services.
  14. I am late to the party but here is my $.02 worth. A fair single supplement is 0%. Anything more is punishing people for traveling solo. Making people pay for non-existent passengers is ridiculous.
  15. Wow. I thought I was the only one that had this experience. I was coming back through customs one time and answering the questions. As soon as I said that I was traveling solo, you could see the resentment in his eyes. That's when it was decided that I needed "further looking into". I sat in their office for 20 minutes before someone came along to search my luggage. They found nothing of course and I was on my way. But still, trying to make into some sort of villain for being single.
  16. The hardest thing for me is the "single supplement". I feel like it's a punishment for being single. The second hardest thing for me is the MDR, like others have mentioned. I have no problem on land because I generally just sit at the bar but in the MDR I have hoards of people staring at me. I take a Kindle with me when I travel so I can read or stare out the window. Now the best thing about traveling solo is the freedom. I can do what I want, when I want and I don't have to try and please someone else. I can sleep in, I can stay on the ship, I can get off the ship, it's all up to me.
  17. Don't know about a taxi. Princess transfers for me were $34 each way.
