  1. OK, so is there one overall tour director? I was thinking there might be several, each leading a group. I guess it is obvious that I am going to by our experiences with Gate 1 land escorted trips. Sometimes there were local guides, but also our overall director/guide.
  2. We have used Gate 1 twice for escorted tours, both times they were limited to 40 people. At that point they were sold out. Our ship obviously holds more then 40 passengers. I asked and was told that the tours were 40 at the most. Could anyone who has sailed on a Gate 1 River cruise tell me if you are touring ports with the same 40 or less passengers, or do the groups change every day, sort of first come, first serve. I know over the course of our escorted tours with Gate 1, we bonded with others on the tour, and would hope they are doing it the same way on their river cruises.
  3. Yes, For What It's Worth is a classic written by Stephen Stills.
  4. 🤞, not too chilly. And wet is better than too dry as we are doing a river cruise, and if it is too dry, we end up on buses. Thanks for the reply.
  5. Yes, yes, yes, to Fox's U-bet. Once while filling in at a soda fountain, I made a lime egg cream. You had to drink it real fast before it curdled. 🤣
  6. I know on the Prima last summer, after we ate our entire meal including dessert, we were given a cake on our anniversary. We each ate a little, and then brought it back to our cabin. This was in Hudson's the MDR.
  7. Thanks for the information. i agree no bathing suit, even for DW who is definitely a swimmer.
  8. Not just California. And a truly nasty drug. 😒
  9. Makes me glad that I'm not the only one. 😊
  10. 👍, that really says it all. In general, those who are late are late because they do not care about anyone but themselves.
  11. We have booked a river cruise there from late March into the very beginning of April.
  12. 🤦‍♂️, I often try to remember if I brushed my teeth and did I take shower.
  13. Always good to hear from someone who actually knows as opposed to most of us who just often give opinions.
  14. I originally asked about Viking, but then got an e-mail from Gate 1. We had in the past gone on Gate 1 escorted tours (Central Europe and Peru), and thought highly of them. We ended up booking a Gate 1 river cruise for this March. (I was actually looking at March 2025, but DW picked a date for this March and when I found a couple of cabins available for that date, booked one of them for us.) I believe they also do that egalitarian dinner. Can someone confirm that? Also is there a buffet option instead of dinner. I sometimes want to eat earlier, and DW on all of our ocean cruises has said she gets tired of being waited on and also likes to make her own salad in the buffet,
  15. You should also post your question in the following cc forum. Northern Europe & Baltic Sea - Cruise Critic Community
  16. Would informal be a better term? Actually, I did not only wear tie dye tee shirts; I also wore a Bob Marley tee shirt I bought in Jamaica at a cruise stop. 😉
  17. My DW actually likes Thomas Kincade. 🤦‍♂️
  18. Is it as relaxed as NCL where I wore tie dye tee shirts all the time including dinners?
  19. And we are booked on the Monarch Empress in March 2024.
  20. That makes sense to keep the line moving. But, I would think the potential passenger would realize something is not right when you move him or her to another place instead of getting them onboard the ship. Are you sometimes asked what is wrong?
  21. Our TA once told me that if there were issues like this, don't let it ruin your cruise. Instead have him deal with it post cruise.
  22. And there is also a foreign tax credit if a US citizen pays income taxes to a foreign government.
  23. When they start screaming at you, is the next step to get a supervisor?
  24. Thanks, but LOL, I wanted to respond to that post letting others know we had booked the river cruise in question, but it turns out the topic was CLOSED. 🤦‍♂️
