  1. Our cruise out of Southampton is in two months. Today I was able to add our flight info "to" the port but not "from" the port after our cruise. The reason I wanted to is because I want to do self-disembarkation since our flight out of Southampton Airport (about 20 minutes from the port) is 11:20 am. We are scheduled to dock at 7:00 am (but I think that might really mean the first people off can leave then). It does say that if the flight time conflicts with the ship's arrival/departure times that I will get an alert. So I'm wondering if Princess thinks that is not enough time. (Obviously it's not for Heathrow/Gatwick) The error is on the flight number, I played around with spaces between the letters/numbers and some other things and it still would not go through. So the only reason I wanted to do this is to be able to self-disembark and I thought with an early flight that I could do this. Can I just go to customer service while on the ship? Or call Princess? (I haven't called them lately but have had some really long hold times). Or can I just show up with my bags and get off when they get the all clear? I never really paid attention to this since I like to be one of the last off the ship. Thanks!
  2. We will be arriving back in Southampton on a Saturday morning in June, we are scheduled to dock at 7:00 am. That seems a little late to "dock" rather than to start self-disembarking but that's what our info says. I'm thinking of getting an EasyJet flight to Glasgow that leaves at 11:20 am. Google says it's about 6 miles/20 minutes to the airport. So if we can self-disembark 7:30-8:00, be at the airport about 8:30, it should work, right??? Thanks for any info.
  3. I've never done this but I won't turn down an 8% discount. Are these electronic gift cards that I can use pretty much immediately? I've got my final payment due soon.
  4. About how big would you say the Galapagos tortoises were that you saw? It's hard to tell from the photos.
  5. I'll be on the 8/21 Apex sailing with an overnight in Copenhagen. I'll just be glad to get a shuttle whether it's free or $20. From what I have read, taxis are very expensive --like $50 for a 15 minute taxi ride-don't know how accurate that is and they don't have Uber there. Even though the transportation there is supposed to be excellent, I understand that you can't just tap your card and go--you have to buy a ticket or download the app (which you can't add your credit card until you get into Denmark), plus I've read that buses only take cash. I hope I am wrong on some of this info but this is what I have recently read.
  6. I'm currently booked on Apex with an Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda and considering making an offer to Moveup. It seems like some of the "upgrades" really aren't much. So at what point is there really a difference in the room/amenities/service? We are already all inclusive drinks/wifi/tips. It appears that Concierge and Aqua Class aren't much of an upgrade. Is that correct? How about Sky Suite, Sunset Sky Suite and Aqua Class Sky Suite. Which would you choose and why? Thanks!!
  7. Following as we will be on the Apex August 21.
  8. Good to know. I just booked that hotel pre-cruise!
  9. We are on that one! as long as it's the one that arrives in Amsterdam on September 2.
  10. OP update! I called first thing this morning, no wait. The guy saw the problem right away; I had bought the tips/wifi/drinks package but they charged me for tips again. He fixed the problem right away and sent me a new zero-balance invoice. I was on the phone a total of five minutes! YAY!
  11. OP here. I did call them but my hold time was estimated to be 94 minutes.... I'll try tomorrow. But I did go through it line by line to try to compare the original vs the "additional $420 owed." When I booked there was the total cost including the drinks/wifi and tips package which I bought. There was no choice to pay less than the total amount due and I was fine with that (I think that was a requirement since it was less than 90 days out??) There's a bunch of extra plusses and minuses on $420 balance owed confirmation which is confusing. There is one for tips for $420 so I think I am being charged twice for that since it was already included in the tips/wifi/drinks package. I'll update when I get an answer.
  12. I booked a Celebrity cruise on 5/25 for August (less than 90 days out) paid in full, received confirmation, zero balance, no problem with credit card etc. But today I received a 2 am email stating a balance due of $420 or they will cancel my cruise "by the due date below" but there is no due date mentioned. I tried calling them but they are closed!! It says they are open from 9 am on weekends but not sure if they will be open because of the holiday... I haven't traveled Celebrity in nine years and this is not a good start. Anyone have this happen, was it a "glitch" or what?? Thanks!
  13. Following this. I'll be on this cruise in August. Just booked yesterday.
  14. I did it a couple of weeks ago. I went to guest services at the Denali Lodge and wanted to change to the Tundra Wilderness tour that was scheduled for the next day. She couldn't get hold of anyone there at the time but called me back about an hour later and said there was no availability. I went there again a couple hours later, spoke to a guy who called and really pushed for them to "find a seat for us." He did! And it was a better time for us; the first was about 8 am and the one we got was about 2 pm so we didn't have to rush in the morning. It was something like $35-$50 more per person.
  15. We did the upgrade less than two weeks ago. It cost $35 extra pp. But we didn't do it until we got there. Went to guest services, they couldn't get hold of the vendor so called me back and said nothing was available for the next day. I then went to gs and spoke to another guy (who happened to be from the same city as me-so we had something in common)--anyway he really pushed to get us on the upgrade and they "found" two seats. Plus it was a better time. The original was about 9 am and this was about 3 so we could sleep in a bit.
  16. I just got back from the cruise then land one on the Grand yesterday. I chose the cruise first because I like to work from closest to furthest away. We stayed three nights in Vancouver pre-cruise. I did the Grand just because it seemed like most people recommended that. I'm used to the "mega ships" so it was a little different and those giant ones can't get into Glacier Bay. I would not do the included meals on the land tour. I like to be able to choose what we want. Denali had a few non-Princess restaurants across the street-one called Moose-aca was really good! The food at McKinley and at Denali were average at best--only a few choices for breakfast. And at McKinley I ordered one of their omelettes (I think there were only four choices for breakfast) and asked for it without cheese and she said it was already mixed in so I couldn't get it. And things closed really early. Walking around the grounds at Denali (really nice) was like a ghost town on Saturday night at 9 pm! But the employees were extremely nice--mostly college students, great personalities/very friendly. But warning!! Don't book Denali Princess on your own. I was at guest services and the guy next to me went to check in DIY (non-cruise passenger). They had cancelled his reservation and he never was notified!! They said maybe there was something in Healy 10 miles up the road. I would have been beyond livid-it's not like I-95 where you can find another hotel.
  17. Flying out (hopefully) tomorrow morning to board the Grand on Wednesday in Vancouver. I will test with a proctor on Monday. So I tried to check in with United today and it says I need a negative covid test to fly to Vancouver so it won't let me. I'm fully vaxxed, up to date (2 shots + 2 boosters). I've completed ArrriveCAN and received the QR code/receipt. United says I need a negative Covid test to fly out( tried on desktop and their app) so I can't get a boarding pass. Any idea what is going on? I'll just have to get in line at the airport very early.
  18. Following... I'll be on the same cruise northbound in two weeks.
  19. I'll be on the Grand in a few weeks so I'm following this also.
  20. I have Medjet annually for medical evacuation. It's one thing to lose what you paid for a cruise-- whether it's $1000 or $20,000+. But if you are severely injured or have a health emergency, it can cost literally 100K+ to fly from Europe, etc back to the US. Medjet costs about $400 per year for two of us. We usually get per trip coverage for our regular medical which is secondary to what we have.
  21. Following... We're on there early June. On another site people are saying there are some issues. I sure hope this gets fixed soon. I specifically chose this ship because it was smaller and supposedly can get into better areas. Maybe I should stick to the RC giant glitzy new ones... time will tell.
