Thanks, even the times all booked didn't work well with my cruise. I decided to contact Jayleen, although it is a long shot. Juneau whale watch and juneau shore tours were full, i just didn't book soon enough. There is a large celebrity eclipse cruise ship almost at the same time as our cruise ship which doesn't help. I'll come to alaska again so i can always go at that time.
I confess to not reading the whole thread but i see the gist of it is people are unhappy traditional dining is no longer available. May i ask how food has been since the restart? The menus posted for crown princess live thread looked good
Perhaps i should be embarassed to ask this, but sometimes nature calls. Are there any public facilities at any of these ports? I assume at Mendenhall i could go at the visitors centre and possibly at raptor centre in sitka.
Thanks for posting, Coral. You have helped me before in Alaskan forum. I am having pangs as i booked a royal caribbean cruise as i had a cruise certificate but this cruise looks great. I like the amount of seafood on the dining menu and the waffle bar sounds so fun! Definitely i want to go whale watching in icy straight another time. Just a note for those starting at vancouver that there is a steak restaurant called chops steak house that is about a 5 minute walk from Canada Place near the convention centre. Miku sushi is also lovely. If you are going solo make sure you dine at the huge bar! Enjoy your cruises everyone!
Just to clarify, re: alaskan cruise i am a canadian from vancouver. I tried logging in and i still get the low single supplement showing for crown princess.
I am happy as i was just able to get mytime dining reservations and get the times i wanted! I assume you can can cancel and rebook. Cruise is june 25 but it could be us canadians don’t know what we are doing.
Thanks everyone. It appears the time harv and marv and juneau whale tours start doesn’t work with the ship i’m on. I think i booked too late. My friend was able to book at port so thats a possibility. I couldn’t find the gastineau one,
On my cruise all the reservations are gone for mtd and i’m worried about waiting in line. I feel bad i’ll only be in mdr 4 nights out of 7 due to late port days but hopefully others will miss it as well.
I’m wondering when my time dining opens up for reservations. My cruise is on june 25 and there was no reservations showing last week so i switched back to traditional dining. If i am unable to make reservations can i still get seated? Also as a solo am i more likely to get seated because there may be an odd number of people.
Just a comment though for newbies that you should really watch the refund policies on the independent excursions. I was lucky as mine was 24 hour cancellation.
Does anyone know of a cruise company that only has 20 passengers for whale watching? I am finding i am too scared to go in Jayleen's small boat but on the other hand the cruise ship boats are too big.
