  1. Thanks. I’m assuming its ok to bring water bottles and granola bars and take it to a port?
  2. Just curious how much buying a soda costs on ship? I think i’d only want it a few times.
  3. Thanks. That's great! Only 2 weeks to go so hopefully it stays away for awhile.
  4. Just wondering if those who have recently been there have seen wildfire smoke?
  5. Hi Coral, Just wondering if they still do afternoon tea on the ship? I don’t recall you mentioning it but i may have missed it.
  6. It looks like they put it in the app maybe a week before as june 11 cruise menus are listed. Is asia night a dud?
  7. Thanks the previous cruise has asian night and i was hoping for caribbean night so i wondered if the theme nights will be the same.
  8. May i ask when menus are posted for the cruise? I know i can look at previous cruises but they seem to vary what theme nights are offered. I'd rather see for my specific cruise.
  9. I’m sorry to hear this. I will say the advantage of these cruise tours are times are designed to work with the cruise ship. Many of these independent tours don’t. I am going on my first cruise ship tour on this tour so i’ll see what its like.
  10. On reflection i think i would go on an independent tour as the quality is better. However, i think i’d feel more comfortable with a 1 hour buffer.
  11. Thanks, the problem is our ship docks 15-20 minutes away so additional time. Anyways it was also a cost issue-600..00 seems expensive for 3 hours. I can go on a trip for that amount of money. I should say the refund was really quick and i was impressed by that. Its wings airways and they are reputable.
  12. Thank you all! I was worried i forgot something. I will print my sailpass too.
  13. This may be a stupid question but is the sailing pass and passport all you need to board, other than filling medical questionnaire the day before? It seems too easy.
  14. Could you bring a bag of nuts in a ziploc bag or does it have to be sealed?
  15. Just be glad you are not on princess. They have eliminated traditional dining on their cruises and there is a huge long thread on it on cruise critic with many dissatisfied.
  16. Thanks Coral. I did email Jayleen, i just have a feeling its too late. Its possible she has had a cancellation though.
  17. However i do think if you are going to Alaska more than one time, you do need to find something else to do so you may end up having to do expensive excursions eventually.
  18. I'm sailing on june 28th and brilliance of the seas gets into port at 1:30-8:00. We are at the dock 15-20 minute walk away so that makes a difference as well. My friend told me she booked a whale watching tour at the port although i'd have to find out where so that is a possibility.
  19. Also wanted to add, am i the only one who likes to shop? Ketchikan had some really nice stores. I'm looking forward to Sitka that has some artsy stores as well. I'm also excited to go to the sealaska store in juneau that someone in this forum talked about.
  20. Sounds like there is a lot to do without spending a lot! My last time to alaska i did the skagway train, and then did my own thing in juneau and ketchikan. This time i'm going to the Bering Fisherman's tour, alaska raptor centre and mendenhall glacier. I like to choose just one big thing and do small things for the other. I think you enjoy the one thing you do more rather than being overloaded with expensive excursions. Also some of these expensive tour are overrated. My sister did the sled dog one and while her kids enjoyed it she said it was over priced. I'm glad to be the type of person who enjoys inexpensive things rather than one that can only do expensive ones to get enjoyment.
  21. This is a good tip. I recall last time i came to juneau it was raining and i chose to go to the alaska state museum instead.
