  1. Wow! Your photos are great. It sounds like its possible the wildlife and otter cruise may be the same as yours as its also 3 hours in sitka sound, but you did the raptor center and bear rescue too. I may try and do the raptor center on my own. Sorry to diverge from silver king lodge thread, i think its related as you want to think about how tours compliment each other.
  2. Thanks again to crews news for posting the review. I still don’t understand why there isn’t more people who have done it posting. I’m feeling a little torn as i was also thinking of going on the sea otter and wildlife cruise in sitka and wonder if 2 cruises is too much. But it sounds like on one you see eagles, deer and seals and on the other otters and maybe whales so maybe thats ok. I’ll think about it. It sounds like the food and forest walk is nice too.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I’ve seen a lot of positive comments but they seem to be 10 or more years old so i wondered if there is still as much wildlife there.
  4. Thanks Crew News. Great pictures again! Are your pictures of hubbard?
  5. Wow! Thanks for pictures and everyone for your comments. I wouldn’t really call myself an adventurer but if theres a nice walk that would be nice. If anyone has been to dawes glacier and hubbard glacier i’d appreciate a comment.
  6. Thank you for your comments. Yes thats good to hear there is nice scenery at icy straight point. I thought i heard some people weren’t impressed with it.
  7. I should have said i’ve been to glacier bay before as i know some people will say to go there.
  8. How does dawes glacier compare to hubbard glacier? Is dawes glacier like tracy arm where you can have trouble getting in if you go early? (I would go in may). Also are their small boat excursions to dawes glacier? I’m also wondering if there is much worthwhile to see at icy strait point. One cruise i’m looking at has hubbard glacier and tracy arm (i’d go in june) and other goes to dawes glacier and icy strait point (those are the different places) one is princess and one royal caribbean but i think i’m more concerned about ports.
  9. Could the cruise ships come if they are tendered? I note the celebrity cruise i’m looking at next year is tendered. Maybe the cruise ships could coordinate to keep below the number of visitors.
  10. I’m wondering what port bar harbour will be replaced with. Its a popular port. Some cruise ships already go to portland.
  11. Thanks, i did wonder if the saguenay stop was worthwhile. I’d love to go to newfoundland!
  12. Thanks, the excursions would be very important to me but you are right to look at some independent excursions. And some are in canada i assume they’d be in canadian dollars. (I’m canadian.)
  13. The cruise lines all go slightly different itineraries. Is there one that is considered preferable? I know i’d like to go to charlottetown, being an anne of green gables fan and perhaps halifax, but other than that don’t have a preference.
  14. It seems like my question got lost, so i’ll just focus on excursions. What is the quality of the excursions on msc? Just to add i’m interested on going on a canada new england cruise but i’m sure reports from other cruises would be fine.
  15. I’m interested in potentially going on a canada new england cruise on the meraviglia and have a few questions. How do deposits work? I note bella says its one free change. Does that mean the deposit is refundable? How much is it? What are the quality of excursions? This cruise is port intensive so i’m quite concerned the excursions are good Are there a lot of studio cabins on this ship? It seems like there is a lot so i’m a little confused if there is or i’m misreading it How is the food? How is the ship? Is entertainment good? To be honest my main concern is excursions since very few sea days and i’ve wanted to go to maritimes a long time. Ports are the attractions. Not sure whether to risk going on msc.
  16. Thanks, the last cancellation took about 5 days for the refund, but i guess it varies. I’m not convinced black friday will be that much cheaper, anyways.
  17. Thanks, i am booking an excursion but i am booking quite early so i should be ok.
  18. If you cancel something in cruise planner are you able to rebook it right away? Thinking of booking something now when its 10% off, but i’m wondering if it would go for 15% black friday in which case i would want to cancel and rebook right away.
  19. Are permits expensive? Could that be the reason?
  20. Just a note right now holland america has a special where you can get the railway excursion for free. OP seems to have left the thread though.
  21. Thanks. They must have posted more since i last looked. Holland america is also a good option though. Also i know some people just recommend going to seattle the first time but i’m from vancouver so biased.
  22. Time4u2go’s post reminds me that there is another reason to go royal caribbean-royal caribbean sails the scenic inside passage out of vancouver while princess has very few roundtrip vancouver cruises. Note i didn’t say none, just very few. For my first cruise i sailed holland america which sails glacier bay but also has more vancouver roundtrip sailings. Still i’m not familiar with northbound or southbound routes-princess sails those from vancouver.
  23. If anyone knows of a cruise that goes to those 3 spots-hubbard, tracy arm and sitka-on the same cruise then please post-i never found one. Royal caribbean is unique in that regard.
  24. As i said, i challenge you to find a princess cruise that goes to sitka, tracy arm and hubbard glacier on the same cruise. I’m going to alaska for the second time and want to maximize new stops. Also, just a reminder this is a royal caribbean topic. I’m posting why you may want to take royal caribbean.
  25. Royal caribbean is the only one i know of that goes to all 3 on the same cruise. I’m going on brilliance of the seas.
