  1. It seems to me with a cruise you can go for a day and then decide if you want to go back and spend more time there.
  2. So is there no covid testing when you leave anymore? I’m leaving from vancouver on a cruise
  3. It seems that the short cancellation policy is an advantage of booking on the cruise ship. I've seen some booked direct where the cancellation policy isn't great.
  4. When is the deadline to cancel an excursion? Can you cancel it when on the cruise ship?
  5. Thanks for the response though. I agree the 5 glacier plane ride doesn't seem worth it.
  6. To be honest, i really dislike that a focal point of both taku lodge and the bering fisherman's tour is the feeding of animals. I'm from BC and we are taught never to feed animals or birds and most definitely not bears. Both bears and birds can become habituated to eating human food. In the case of bears, they can become aggressive if habituated to humans and i'm really surprised taku lodge hasn't had an incident. They shouldn't be feeding them scraps from the barbeque. Sorry to lecture but this really bugs me. For me, i'd like to have a real encounter in the wild with an eagle not an artificial one with tossed fish as for bears i guess i've seen them already so i could do without. Maybe a reason for me to take the misty fjords excursion.
  7. Thanks. This cruise doesn't go to Haines or Skagway. If anyone ever goes to Vancouver i would take the flight to Salt spring island. Its beautiful. I think part of the problem is as its my 50th i'd like to do something special, but taku lodge flight comes to 580 canadian and thats pretty steep. The wings airway flight seems more reasonable but the plane seems awful small if its a 6 seater.
  8. I don't know why but i am having trouble getting excited about the bering fisherman's tour. I got a really good deal at 172 canadian yet still. Misty fjords seems like a good price for 2 hour flight. Not sure if i should do deadliest catch this time and then leave misty fjords for another visit.
  9. Thanks, how does taku lodge compare to the misty fjords tour in ketchikan flewn by island wings. It seems like its a longer flight at 2 hours but no dinner.
  10. I am looking at booking the taku lodge or flight excursion directly from wings as the cost through royal caribbean is a real rip off. Cost of just the flight is 290 us vs 430us for taku lodge. Is going to taku lodge really worth it vs. just the flight? Cost is quite a bit higher. Also wondering from people who have done taku lodge and deadliest catch tour wnich you’d recommend. Unfortunately due to cost i can’t do it all. It is my 50th though so may be time to splurge on the flight. I’d be going end of june.
  11. Thanks. I’m from vancouver and i’m wondering if they’d be more likely or less likely to target regional fares to us. I would love a no exchange rate deal!
  12. Thanks. There is an april 30th alaska cruise. Does that mean it would show up about a month before?
  13. Just wondering how early princess posts drop and go deals. Are they usually a good deal or not that much price difference? Was thinking of looking at spring alaska drop and go cruises.
  14. There is a sapphire princess cruise a great price but it goes to hubbard may 2nd and then glacier bay may 6th. I’m wondering if we will be too far away to see hubbard that well. On the other hand, last time i went to glacier bay was in september and i wonder if it will look different with its snowy peaks in may.
  15. I think not all of us want to take expensive excursions on our alasks trip or are being selective. The only expensive excursion i’m doing is the deadliest catch tour. If you have other inexpensive juneau excursions to share, please do. I’ve already been to alaska state museum. Should be salmon spawning in the summer.
  16. Just to add i agree with people that you should focus on the price and not sale. I see taku lodge is 15% off but 736.00 which is more than it was! As an aside americans have no idea how lucky they are that they are paying in american dollars and not canadian dollars. Sales just really help with the exchange rate.
  17. I don't remember the exact cost of the taku glacier lodge at the time. I know right now its over 600 canadian. However i do know i paid 172 canadian for the deadliest catch tour and it is now close to 300.00 canadian😬 I think i know when i've got a good price. Great to know march is a possibility!
  18. Thanks. People who weren't offered that sale don't realize how good it was. It was definitely a real flash sale and hard to make decisions in the moment. However i should have booked it knowing i could cancel it later.
  19. My cruise is in june so i guess its less likely there will be good sales since closer to cruise date?
  20. Sorry the 35% off was a very good deal as i can see how high the prices are now. In one case the excursion i booked is 120 more now. I want to book a taku lodge flight excursion and it was definitely 35% cheaper then it is now.I missed the boat.
  21. I booked the mendenhall glacier and salmon hatchery. Is the hatchery worth seeing?
  22. I’m just wondering if in the spring there is any day where cruiseplanner items go on sale? Our ship had a pre black friday 35% off but there is something i wished i booked but didn’t.
