I am interested in doing this tour in December. Has anyone had any experience with them? Also with the logistics of getting from the Cruise port to the ferry and then the ferry to Playa del Carmen to meet their transportation. How many hours does the whole thing take and is it worth it? Not only from the financial side. Thank you?
  6. I am looking for the email address of the department which handles dining time problems. I would like to get it resolved before sailing and not wait to embarkation day. Thanks
  7. Royal usually supplies the items as mentioned by Cruisegirl1. Depending on the ship there can also be full Reform or Conservative Prayer books. The service itself is self led and can be of any denomination depending on the leader and the makeup of the group.
  8. I few years ago I took the helicopter tour in Skagway . There was only one company, and the ship of course used them There was only a $10 difference between them and the payment terms were better from the ship so I used them
  9. Can I have the contact information for Victor now that he is no longer the CD? Thank you
  10. The food looks very delicious and I am glad that you enjoyed it. Did you happen to ask the staff if the food was cooked in regular pans, fryers, oven etc, or in special vegan dedicated ones?
  11. Yes, I have seen threads go awry and I have been here longer than is listed. That's the reason that there is a 2 by my name. There were problems with my account after a few years and it had to be restarted. But anyway, nice chatting with you and let's keep cruising.
  12. It is exactly because the topic here is "group travel and venue closing on cruise ships" and not "Judaism, modern or antiquated?" that I said that this is an inappropriate forum. I would be happy to discuss the subject with you anytime in a proper setting.
  13. How would you get from MIA international Arrivals (Air France) to the tri-rail station?
  14. Shavua Tov Dani IMHO I don't think that your reply is pertinent to the topic.
  15. As I mentioned above there are many Kosher rules. Plates, pot and utensils that were used for non Kosher food especially if heated cannot be used by strictly observant people. Therefore, all pre prepared Kosher meals are served with disposable plates and utensils. They can be "Koshered" and become useable by following various procedures, and that what was done by the supervising Rabbi at the Solarium Bistro. Once that was done any non-Kosher food that comes in contact with the Kitchen equipment would void the Kosher status, hence the need to close the SB to outside non kosher food.
  16. You are most probably correct. The Sabbath is a day for longish morning prayers (2-3 hours), long meals, bible study and family time. Swimming is generally not done but lounging around the pool if there is spare time is acceptable
  17. On the specia lYeshiva Week sailings they sometimes use part of the Windjammer for the overflow from the Bistro and yes, they would get the same fresh Glatt Kosher meals food.
  18. If you look at the small print in the ad you can see that there are really two types of Kosher options. The first is the "Fresh cooked onboard" option which costs $60 per day per person extra above the regular fare and is served in the Solarium Bistro or another closed off location. This is only offered on special group or Yeshiva Week cruises. The second option is the frozen precooked meals which can be ordered in advance without extra cost and are served in the MDR or sometimes the Windjammer, with disposable plate and cutlery. This is a year round service. That is what your saw.
  19. The address for any ship would be good too as I could probably figure it out from the format.
  20. What would be the email address for the Cruise Director on the Jewel?
  21. It is true that there won't be any traffic at that hour and the trip would take an hour and a half to two hours, but there won't be any real time at the hotel either. I would think that they would have to "get up" and organized around 1:30 AM and depart at 2:30, so not too much sleep. I think that it would be better to book a room in Tel Aviv at a decent and not overpriced hotel, rest up walk around the city, have a nice early dinner and get going around 3:30- 4:00
  22. I keep strictly Kosher and have been cruising with Royal for over a decade. All the staff goes out of their way to do everything possible to make sure that you are well fed and comfortable during the meals. I never went hungry.
