  1. Oh-oh. My mistake. It's "Jeff's" cheesesteak. Scrumptious nonetheless. 😀
  2. The bun is far from low carb, but I allow myself one of these on the first day (and maybe several other days; and then maybe some ice cream too 😇) and then I workout like crazy when I get home. The problem this time is that it is only about 7 weeks between our cruise on Sea in March and then back on Sea in May. That's a lot of sweating lol..
  3. So this is just my opinion, but in a place like Venice I would not book the pre. With the pre, you're on Viking's schedule if you are depending on them for transportation. In Venice, our experience was, if you want to get photos anywhere near comparable to the beautiful photos you posted here recently, you will have to be on your own timeline and that will mean being out there at first light before the hoards of tourists. I would definitely do Venice on your own. It's very easy.
  4. Personally, I’d be happy with either of them, but you can cancel the pre extension up to 30 days out. You could book the Hilton on your own if that’s the location you want. I think it’s less expensive than the Marriott.
  5. I think it's a 15-20 minute ferry ride and the ferry runs several times an hour. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Hilton is also on an island and runs a shuttle. Either hotel would be very nice, imo.
  6. A cheesesteak is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak and melted cheese in a long hoagie roll. I get it with mushrooms. It's really lovely.
  7. We were on Jupiter last May. We informed Guest Services one day that the testing was botched up and we received someone else's vials. We weren't nasty about it at all, but we told them that we were going to go on with our day -- gym, breakfast, etc. That evening there was a letter in our room from the GM -- I can't remember his name -- apologizing for the error and said it wouldn't happen again. It happened again the next morning to us and several others on our deck. We weren't against their testing policy, in fact we supported it. But after experiencing it and chatting with others on board, we decided it was ineffective.
  8. That's great! Have you joined the Roll Call? How are you getting to San Juan? We have a lot of credits to use up with a certain airline with the initials "AT" 🙂, but they cancelled our flight. So now we are flying to FLL with them and staying over and then on to San Juan with JetBlue.
  9. That's true, but in our case we will be touring the Galicia region of Spain via train for 10 days before we join our cruise in Barcelona, so just having carryons for that bit of the trip is very convenient. It is expensive, even with Viking's 20% discount, but it beats getting on and off trains with heavy luggage. Been there done that many, many times over the years.
  10. But in this scenario, wouldn't this affect all cabin categories, not just PV? Or am I misunderstanding your example?
  11. Here is an earlier thread on that topic We have booked to use them in May. By all accounts it's very efficient. My only concern is sending luggage unlocked. But many people have done it with good results.🙂
  12. The last few reports from recent cruisers have indicated that there are no pistachio buns to be found. On our last cruise this past May, I was able to find one on the first morning, but never again after that. We cruise again next month and I'll be looking for them!!
  13. Beautiful photo worth framing. Thanks for posting it. Enjoy the rest of your World Cruise!
  14. Whenever we’ve brought anything onboard, they’ve always made sure it had an automatic shutoff.
  15. We always head to the Pool Grill. Love their philly cheesesteak and salads. We board in San Juan next month for the transatlantic to Barcelona. We can hardly wait. 🙂🙂
  16. I think there is a train that goes from Venice to Chioggia Sottomarina with a change in Padova. It takes less than 2 hours and then it's just a few kilometres over the bridge to the port. The cost is around 10Euros each + a short cab ride.
  17. Post #12 on this thread could be the one Linda was referring to above.
  18. And that's the beauty of it. 🙂
  19. The only low carb dessert I had was the sugarless ice cream. But they will probably come up with something for you, especially if you do what MSEm suggested and talk to the chef or your server.
  20. MyVikingJourney > Onboard Experience > Preferences > Dietary Restrictions
  21. I eat low carb and if you check the box that Linda above indicated, they will send daily menus to your stateroom.
  22. We were watching Viking TV the other day and something we didn’t know is that Torstein Hagen and Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, the former owner and Chairperson of Silversea, are close friends. He helped design Manfredis restaurant and that is who it is named after. An interesting tidbit. 🙂
  23. Great photos. Thanks too for the sail away videos from the aft cabins.
  24. Thanks much for this information Andy. We are using Air Plus for the West Indies with Viking next January and I wouldn't have know to do this if I hadn't read your post.
