  1. Counting the cruise from last week we've made (30 on Carnival) 8 in 26 months and here's my observation:

Wear what you want as long as it's not shorts on Cruise Elegant. I wore a suit and no tie the first night and khakis and a Tommy Bahama shirt the second. All other nights it was khaki shorts and a polo, boat shoes in check.

Our dining companions at the next table had a Doobie Brothers t-shirt and cargo shorts on Cruise Elegant night. They saved their hats for the other ones. Their table mates had football attire and flip-flops.

Please don't be fooled by posts on here, I saw one exception at dinner on the Triumph where they turned people away in shorts downstairs. This guy went up to deck 4, entered the dining room and then went down the stairs to his table near us on deck 3. The shirt with a collar thing is toast, it has been for a long time. T-shirts from the port we visited from Ron Jon were the norm last week.

This isn't from one snapshot, this is 196 days going back to the Mardi Gras. If you want to dress up, go ahead. But you will get passed on the promenade as you walk to dinner by someone with no shirt on and a swimsuit. It happened last Thursday.

Formal Night and Cruise Elegant, RIP.

    .

Amen. Time to stop these absurd discussions.

  2. So we currently have a cove balcony booked on the Dream. I've never had a cove before, so I want to try it. I love the idea of being that close to the water, but I don't love the idea of being on deck 2 (soooo far from everything, except getting off in ports). I also made sure we booked a cove that's not under the galley.

I believe with ES, you can make a one-time change to a guarantee rate. Is this correct? Obviously you would then be giving up the chance at any future price drops. Right now, we can save a small amount ($50) and keep our OBC if we switch to a balcony guarantee. Wondering if I should take the gamble. It's not about saving the money; I've only done a guarantee once and it's more about taking the gamble and seeing what you end up with!

Unusual, it's almost always about the money

  3. We can only fly into FLL from where we live for a reasonable price, so when we were cruising out of MIA, we researched shuttle services, and decided to try SAS shuttle. What a good experience we had. On time, reasonable price, and personable drivers.

Moral of the story: don't pay for overpriced ship's transfers--SAS will be our go-to service in the future.

They have been the #1 transport between FLL and Miami for years. Your experience is very normal. We've used them many times

  4. Sailing CCL and then next going to NCL is like having dinner at McDonalds and then next going to eat at Ruths Chris.

You have to be kidding! Been on 5 mass market cruise lines, including the two being discussed, and you are way off base. One can debate their favorite lines, but they are all very similar. Since you have probably been to McDonalds, I would guess you have never been in Ruth's Chris. This is a misleading post

  5. It shouldn't bother you that I mentioned the Fantasy. I realize it is fleetwide. I don't like asking questions on here because you never know when someone will question me for mentioning the Fantasy or something that doesn't mean a thing to you. If you don't like the words I use.... Keep on scrolling!! BTW, Happy New To You!!!

Some people are too sensitive, just relax, it's an online chat board.

  6. What's the point of this post? Nobody has seen any suprises. Share with us what you got. The only thing in my inbox was a very nice happy new year message. Was that the surprise you're referring to?

No point, some people have too much free time
