  1. We are taking this cruise on the Sunshine Feb 11. If you can wait until then I will post a review with fun times.

St Kitts -we are taking an island tour and then going to discovery beach bar. It is a new bar on a black sand beach, just down from the expensive cambriola club. Our tour agent said it wouldn't be very busy, had good food, and a view of the sunset since we are there until 8pm.

The Carambola club is not expensive but it is very nice

  2. Main Street has a lot of shopping too and it would seem way more convenient for you to go there instead of making your stop at Havensight. Just a thought.

    Anyway, enjoy your trip!

Agree, best shopping is in town. Havensight is also nice but it's main draw is its convenience for cruisers docked there.

  3. Hello,

I'm wondering about the best Carnival ship to choose and best "upgrades" to make a Carnival cruise more of a premium brand experience- obvious thoughts are suites, specialty restaurants, but not sure of the other possibilities? Doesn't seem like there are many suite perks available. Are there beverage or dining packages (such as on Norwegian or Celebrity?) There is nothing like the Haven I could find except Havana and then our kids can't be in there, right?

We are traveling as 5- 2 adults, 2 kids, and our nanny. Probably looking for a suite for us and then an OV room for the kids + nanny. Carnival offers the most options for the very specific time we have available and a reasonable cost considering the number of people we are taking. But we would like to enjoy a more premium experience (and to a degree willing to pay for such) just not sure how to do it up right.

(I sailed Carnival only one time in the past, on the Legend.)

If you want a premium cruise experience, don't book on the lowest cost cruise line.

  4. Hi everyone!

I'm looking at a Carnival cruise (possibly) for next March for a B2B of sorts or to replace my current cruise on Royal. However, Carnival is so expensive for me!

I booked a five night on a large Royal ship, with three guests in a balcony and two in an promenade (interior with a view) stateroom for $2900. This is over our spring break, so a little expensive.

However, when I look on Carnival for a cruise (preferably on a Conquest class or Magic), everything is really expensive for our same setup. Like, in the $4000 range for a six night on Conquest. And I can't find any rooms for five unless I look at Victory (meh) or a Fantasy class (been there, done that).

I really want to go on Carnival again! I enjoyed the zany design and the food. But why is is so expensive? Or am I just not looking in the right spots?

The $2900 on RCCL is cheap. 5 people for 5 days for all food, nice rooms, entertainment. Not sure what you expect.

  5. I admit I only did a brief search, but has this idea, or a similar one, been in any of the forums? ....on any cruise line? :)

    Elegant Night

1st seating in MDR; Cruise Elegant??

2nd seating in MDR - Cruise Casual??

Or some version in different dining venues?

The reason I ask is that most of the cruises I have been on, the MDR always seemed to have a mix of each at both seating's:confused::)?

Really a bad idea for many reasons. Have you been on a Carnival ship lately, they can't even enforce one dress code.

  6. While it is true that the majority to hotels only do once/day service, and in many cases, will not clean the room until late afternoon, the fine hotels that provide themselves with above average service do the rooms with a bed turn-down twice/day.

We can make excuses, and even say it doesn't matter, but taking into account the decrease in quality in their shows, removal of table clothes from the MDR, increase in number of passengers/ship, it is all part of Carnival's "Race to the Bottom", Carnival wants to provide the cheapest cruise with limited service. Price is paramount before quality.

Can't compare fine hotels with Carnival. How many Carnival cruisers would pay $400 or more per night for a hotel room. "Price is paramount before quality" to carnival cruisers, therefore, that is where Carnival is being driven.

Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

  7. IMHO this is the effect of prepaying gratuities for services not yet rendered. There is no incentive to go above and beyond as they know they have already been tipped. I've never been able to wrap my head around this concept. I will pay them in advance (as I already have) but it goes beyond all tipping logic.

100% agree. It seems so obvious but many don't get it.

  8. I expect room service twice a day as usual. I also would like ice delivered to my room every day. I hate that the stewards are working so hard. It is unfair that Carnival gives them so much work. We always give our room steward money the first day for the extra work that we ask for. I think it is unfair that we feel like we have to pay extra for services previously offered. The price of the cruises has not gone down. We do love cruising Carnival as we do feel we get the most for the dollar, however, we will not hesitate to seek other cruise lines.

Disagree. The price of cruising can be very cheap. How many cruisers are paying less than $200/night/couple for room, food, entertainment, etc. I know the suites are paying a large premium but that is a different issue. As cruise line increase capacity, fares will need to stay low to fill the cabins so services will continued to be cost-reduced. If you want more luxury, they are forcing you to go to the premium lines. Even the higher priced mass market lines like Celebrity are cutting services.
